    The one thing that never gets mentioned except by local TV is how Caitlin works tirelessly to insure that she inspires young girls. She takes as much time as possible to interact with all of the kids in the stadium and where ever she goes. She carries herself with class and is a someone that they really should admire. Maravich ALSO averaged 38.1 shots per game, compared to 19.6 shots per game for Caitlin. So she needed exactly HALF the attempts to score more points than Maravich. That stat makes HER record much more impressive to this objective viewer. As for the "there was no 3 point line in HIS day" argument, not Caitlin's fault. I value a 3-pointer ten times more than an easy layup. Also, in future, when both NCAA and NBA introduce a 4-point line, we can then argue how many MORE points CAITLIN would have....had the NCAA had the 4-point line in HER day--since she often shoots the ball from Mexico City. See how that works?

You used to get beat down by older kids and have to work your way up on the playground, there was always some old guy who could take you apart until you got old enough to challenge the best. Now with organized ball separating kids from older competition, and AAU ball, these kids think they are stars and become primadonnas at age 8 on up, thinking they are the best that has ever been. Back in the day they would still be getting taken to the woodshed by older, bigger, stronger, faster player. Now they separate by age from the get go and these little kids actually think they are stars. This mindset filters all the way up to the NBA.

    • @leeboy7139
      @leeboy7139 Месяц назад

      @DaryMatera : Except for Becky Hammond, the average WNBA coaches make 1/10 the amount of money of the 25th highest paid NCAA women's coach. If the WNBA coaches were better, they would be coaching at a top 25 college, not in the WNBA. Why pay someone $750,000 a year when you can get a "better" coach for $75,000 a year. Better yet, why coach someplace for 1/10 of the money you would get from someplace else. And just because a coach played in the NBA, it doesn't mean he's a good coach. On top of that, many, if not most of the top 25 NCAA women's coaches, played in the WNBA or were assistance coaches in the NBA.
      Again, Becky Hammon was the first WNBA coach to receive a million dollar contract and she immediately won back to back championships: the first in 21 years. If that's not enough evidence to convince you that the WNBA lacks high-level coaches, I don't know what else will so it' doesn't matter to what your opinion is.

    Wait, “Pistol Pete” only played 3 seasons at LSU and had no three point line! Record shows that if there was a line, he would average 13 threes a game making his overall average 57 points per game. He played only 83 games in college. Let’s just say the three point line was present during just 3 seasons of his college career. He would have had roughly 4731 points.
    Caitlin played 135 games and made 3830 points in 4 years.
    Pete playing 135 games even with no three point line would roughly be around 5967 points. (Not including three point)
    But for the fun of it let’s include the three point average in 135 games.
    Pete playing 135 games with a three point line. Pete’s rough total points would be 7695.
    Caitlin 135 games - 3830 points
    Pete 135 games - 7695 points
    Caitlin is a great player and fun to watch and did break the record. But let us not compare the greatness of Pete Maravich to the greatness of Caitlin Clark.

    I love watching our Hawkeye women every game. Caitlin's success seems to be the best when she misses her first few 3's. Once she hits one, that is all it takes for her to keep hitting them, and by that point, she's already feeding her teammates for assists. She can't be guarded very easily. Watching the looks on the faces of defenders who've been given the task of guarding her will look at their coach with their arms questioning what they should try next because whether she's putting up a logo 3 or going straight down the court to the basket, she can stop or spin on a dime leaving defenders wondering how to defend her. I will miss her next season, but I think our team is still going to be competitive with the new recruits coming in. We still have Syd, Taylor, Kylie, and especially Hannah!! If we can continue to bring in players who are willing to give assists as well as score, Iowa could continue to be dangerous.

Duke, coach K career, Dean Smith career, Roy Smith career, Duke, rivalry Carolina, NC state 1974 NCAA championship and 1983 NCAA championship all NCAA championships for Duke mens Virginia, and North Carolina Tarheels she is the female version of Caitlyn Clark.

    Women’s D1 college basketball is a different sport than men’s D1 college basketball. Caitlyn Clark holds the record for women’s D1 college basketball. Good job Caitlyn. Pete Maravich still holds the record for men’s D1 college basketball. it’s very similar to saying the softball records should also apply to Baseball. Let me say it one last time-- you are comparing two different sports

    She's gotten such an insane amount of press (from the media cashing in on her) that now she's got a zillion haters, and will enter the WNBA with the world's biggest target on her back. Take all that press out of the equation, and remember she's just a college girl playing her game. I'm sure she didn't want all that hype.

      @@keyfield8967 Clark will cleary rise to the occasion. She's been playing under immense pressure as the Next Big Thing for two years now. Plus she's in the Final Four with the eyes of the world on her. The thrives under pressure. Cue Bowie and Freddie.

      There are a whole lot of tougher WNBA players who didn't get the attention this Clark gal gets. They probably resent it and as a result, they will go 'extra' at her and she won't be able to shine. She will still make alot $$ just because....@@DaryMatera
