- Peebs reacts to the funniest video game deaths Toasty could find. If you laugh, you're a bad person. This video was quasi inspired by the old PeanutButterGamer series, To Kill an Avatar. I've been weirdly obsessed with video game deaths ever since I was a kid. Is that disturbing? Probably. We've got stuff from Resident Evil, Spiderman, Borderlands, Super Paper Mario, the Jurassic Park Telltale game, The Elder Scrolls Oblivion, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mortal Kombat, and more!

The part that gets me the most isn't just the "I'm going to die" line, but it's just the fact that Spiderman didn't groan after hitting the floor. His soul just left his body.

It’s one of the best games in the series, and the cutscenes are pure meme material. Megaman 8 has very similar funny cutscenes

4:57 Honestly I feel like this line is on par with "What am I fighting fooooooooooooor?" in terms of voice cracks, bad acting and meme potential.
IMO old-school adventure games had some of the best deaths. The variety of horrible/funny ways to kick the bucket was part of the experience.
I agree. I loved/love the old Sierra games (& others like them) for that. Like trying to pick up a piece of metal in Space Quest 3 which turns out to be extremely sharp, getting cut and then bleeding to death. Just some crazy stuff. Now that I’m thinking about it, some old Choose Your Own Adventure/-type books are like that, too, I think?
The Nancy Drew games from Her Interactive had some pretty damn funny game over sequences. Being eaten by a large carnivorous plant, being pecked by an aggressive chicken, flying off your bike without a helmet, etc. They were golden. Lol
I'm convinced Toasty is the best editor on RUclips rn and no one can tell me otherwise.

Am I the only one that chuckles whenever Sephiroth appears out of nowhere and turns off Aerith's life, like dude literally enters from the shadow realm and none of the party members see it coming, I like to think that he jumped from like a football field away and landed perfectly. 🤣

There's a really good one in Return to Monkey Island but it takes some setup. The framing device of the game is that Guybrush is telling his kid the story of one of his adventures. There's a part where you have to go under the water and if you purposely stay under past the time limit, Guybrush will say that he drowned and laugh. It will cut to the present and the kid will say that's not how it happened and tell him to say it right this time. You can do it again and get a similar result, but if you do it a third time the game will cut to the bench where Guybrush was telling his story but nobody's there and you get a game over.
I love Megaman so much, nice to see a fellow fan.

I don't know what's funnier between Spiderman's splat and that abysmal Rockman dub (because, let's be real, it's the dub's fault here).
Also the "bro" at the Morinth scene was priceless.
The Pompeii part though... Chef's kiss.
I remember that old text based adventure game (the sort where you have to input your actions) that had the stupidest deaths. Like for example you could use a lock pick to pick your nose (yes, truly), and if you did it too much it reached your brain and you killed yourself. Or another one where you threw leaves in the air or something, and you ended up falling backwards and killing yourself because of that I believe? It was amazing.
Ah Quest for Glory, the funny thing is if your lock picking skill is high enough you don't die and actually "unlock" your mind and get experience lol.
15:40 that happened to me and I remember it scared the crap out of me (especially because it was night and I had already watched something scary)
speaking of nier automata deaths, one that is alos kinda funny is, that you can blow up the space station you wake up in after the "tutorial" by self-destructing yourself (if i remember right)

Yeah, Mortal Kombat always tossed realism out the window for its fatals to some degree, but there's always at least some amount of logic they're trying to follow. MK Trilogy on the other hand, they were just like "screw it, go full comedy" on that one in particular.
My contribution: Mega Man Legends. If you don't have your helmet equipped and you jump just right in front of a moving school bus, you'll do a flip and land on your head, instantly dying.
The funniest one here has to be the Mario Maker death that essentially goes full Looney Tunes. I thought there was one where Mario, after falling, gets frustrated with the player and we hear him drive off in a car that happens to be down there. XD

I love how in uncharted 1 there is a chance where if you die Sully calmly says “Oh no.”
so disappointed they showed mortal kombat deaths and Toasty didn't even use the Toasty fatality as a clip.
I'm happy we all have that 4:20 for this right now.

That Paper Mario TTYD one is even worse in the Japanese version, cuz after you agree to be her servant, Mario's eyes zone out and he's hunched over like he's possesed.
Its okay Peebs, we all try and see all the ways we can die in videogames, and of course laugh at the goofy ones 😂
Fun fact, an impressive amount of people did manage to make it out of Pompeii. There was a really well-managed evacuation effort.

My funniest death so far in Tears of the Kingdom: skydiving down to the doorstep of the Temple of Time and forgetting I don't have the paraglider.
(Also, I remember playing that Spider-man game as a kid and thinking the graphics looked amazing)

Ah yes the famous game over in super paper mario where if you refuse three times at the beginning of the game. I tried myself and if you get a game over here you need to rewatch the opening intro again which is very long and the dialog are slow.

Something thats sometimes pretty amusing in rpg's is going back to early game areas wearing high end stuff and getting yourself killed by the weakest thing imaginable because of how stupid it looks, of course I'd make sure I'm already pretty low on health beforehand otherwise it'd take forever.

The X4 death is a bit more tragic in the redub with the X8 voice. The writing is still the same, but Lucas Gibetson's is chilling with how believable the grief is.
One of the funny death I laugh at that was not in the video because of how dumb it is from a horror rpg game call Misao where you get kill by phone just unexpectedly rings

I love how the paper Mario games give you the option to screw yourself over. It’s super funny. I remember my brother playing super paper Mario, declining the pleas to save the world, and then getting annoyed by how you have to watch the whole intro cutscene again

Here's a fact about Iris from Megaman: She's fated to not have a happy end for her, regardless of the universe of Megaman she's in. Abit of a spoiler for one of the Battle Network games, but I'm not saying how or which game. She's basically the Leomon of the Megaman franchise, except, less frequent as there's only two universes of Megaman currently. Now, for those who are not familiar with Digimon, in the Digimon anime, whenever Leomon is present, he always dies at some point, sometimes immediately. For example, the Leomon in the movie X-Evolution, he dies in the intro segment, but the movie never explains why he died there. Pretty much one of the most bland deaths of Leomon, as he didn't really get to do anything. Sorry, went off a tangent there.
If you like silly deaths, try looking into Shadow of Destiny you die to some... strange things sometimes in there
