that shot of Thor yelling after realizing he’s not worthy anymore is actually heartbreaking. bc of the later movies i’ve definitely been sleeping on chris hemsworths acting ability
I don't think he was worthy before. It's just that Mjolnir didn't have the worthiness enchantment until Odin banished Thor. Odin created the enchantment in that very moment when he whispered to the hammer.
@@UltimateSpinDash okay wise guy
It’s not so much that he realized he wasn’t worthy anymore (given Mjolnir didn’t have the enchantment until after he was banished), but rather I think the mortality truly kicked in for him in this moment. Until now he thought he could easily regain his powers if he just found Mjolnir again, and return home. But once he couldn’t lift it, reality hit him that he truly couldn’t go home and was just a man now. And it was this that really lead him to learning humility.

@@TheStraightestWhitest Lol nobody agrees with you. Ragnarok injected a new vibe to the franchise without changing the fundamental characters or arcs. It worked. It bookended to the Thor trilogy that called back to Odin & Thor's development in the original, and salvaged the franchise after the deservedly dismissed Thor 2. In traditional Norse mythology you don’t have to be worthy to lift mjolnir, it’s just so incredibly heavy that only the god Thor can lift it.

If traditional rules were applied in the movie, then we wouldn't have gotten the amazing endgame scene where cap makes an entrance with mjolnir.

Bro, the first “Thor” was so underrated. The people that hated on this movie so much must not have missed the true meaning of the movie. This movie isn’t all about the action, which is what everyone wants to see in sci-fi action films nowadays. What it’s about is Thor learning how not to be obsessive in starting wars with others and not be so arrogant and reckless and instead, gain a sense of humility and selflessness and learn how to be kind, caring, and considerate of other people in order to gain his worthiness back. This movie is a well-developed story of how Thor becomes more heroic. That’s why he decided to sacrifice himself by leaving himself to die at the hands of Loki and The Destroyer on Earth when trying to protect Jane, her friends, and his fellow Asgardians, Lady Sif and the Warriors Three. That’s why he also made another sacrifice by attempting to destroy The Rainbow Bridge that connects the Bifrost to all Nine Realms including Asgard and Earth so that he could prevent Earth from experiencing any more danger than it already has. In my opinion, Kenneth Branagh did an excellent job telling the story of how Thor became a hero.
That doesn't make it a good movie.
Andrew P. Stewart That’s what I love about these kind of movies, if there isn’t a whole lot of action then I’m fine with it.

They just point blank refuse to allow him to be King thanks to them ensuring 'King' Valkryie the enslaver is. They have now regressed him to a drooling, bumbling simpleton, an airhead jock who every character finds utterly insufferable because he's written like a walking catastrophe. And now they've regressed him further to make him the God of Hammers yet again, despite Taika's very last movie's entire point being that he isn't. They have to make Thor King or kill him off at this point. The idea he ended ANOTHER movie now just fucking around instead of taking up the mantle is unbearable. Remember when Valkryie enslaved Thor for the Grandmaster's games and twice refused to help her own people when he was all but begging her? Yeah, she'd be a better ruler for those people than Thor. Thor is underrated for real. Damn how mad would you be knowing your not worthy at all

Well, there is a whole comic series called "Odinson, The Unworthy Thor". As "Thor" in Marvel is more of a Title than a name. As his real name is Odinson (as he is the son of Odin...yes Norse were not that creative). It talks about how Odinson traveled around trying to become worthy again and to get his hammer back. As he admitted that deep down. He was scared of his hammer. He was scared that one day he could wake up and he could never be able to pick it up to wield it. He always thought deep down. He just had doubt in it. Yet also having the hammer was kind of a drug. He loved the power it gave him. Even though he himself is nearly unstoppable but he still can be killed (Norse God thing).
Though this series was also around the time Jane Foster (kind of Odinson's love interest) ends up being able to pick up the hammer and being the new Thor...and really fans are totally mixed about it. Even though in her normal human form. She is dying from Cancer and each time she transformed into Thor. All the Kemo she undergoes. Well, it is cleaned out of her system and the cancer is still there. As even being Thor. She is still dying. She could end up dying to cancer. Even as Thor. Really it was an interesting concept.
Really Marvel went so far to be very Meta. Even had Odin and most of Asgard hate on Jane Foster being Thor. Calling her a fake. All to show that they were listening to the fans and just added more to her character.
Qardo you're partially right, Thor is both a Name and a title. Odinson is just literally referring to his father which is why he call Phil "son of coul" because his last name is Colson. Think of it as Asgard, it's both a place on a map and somewhere physical, kind of like New York and New York.

He didn't have his hammer, and a lot of his strength comes from the power of Mjǫlnir
@@JonahCEmerson asgardian armor dude also thor only real power is super strong and super tough
I think odin took his powers in this movie, so he could only get it back when he grabbed the hammer
Thor is cursed by Odin to be as weak as a human version of himself. It's pretty much the main plot point of this film.
yeah but in ragnarok, Odin tells him he doesnt really need the hammer. he has the power inside himself. point is, the guard dude should get a raise. Or an invitation to join the avengers
that guy that said ''better call cause I'm starting to root for this guy''
he's fucking hilarious!!!!!
"That" guy is Clint Barton, Hawkeye.
sorry haven't seen the movie
I have no time
but he's still cool!
He's an Avenger. He's in most of the Marvel films.
wtf who is this guy lol does he live on earth?
Pill Paxxton Yes, but he has no time watching the movies. Can't you read?
Back when the MCU wasn't cracking a joke every 5 minutes.
In an alternate universe Thor gets shot
Yes lol, that was funny
I understood that reference.
Marvel fight choreography has really gone a long way
This was essentially made by somebody who had a very shakespeary vision for this film. Even Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk had much better choreography.
Not after Captain Marvel, Spider-man: Homecoming, and Black Panther.
Civil War had the shakiest cinematography I’d ever saw!
Winter Soldier was peak choreography for the mcu
Daredevil still has the best fight choreography. In my opinion.
Isn't anybody talk about the amazing acting Chris Hemsworth has done here? How he looks up and screams, when Thor knew he couldn't lift Mjölnir, it showed emotions and pain knowing he wasn't worthy anymore
Hemsworth was massive!!!
i love how it references a ton of other characters like hawkeye and sitwell
Send cap from 2023 here , he'll show how it's done
why would probably break his bones trying to pick it up y'know considering he's a old man
