This video from griff was the entire reason i was able to learn air roll. nothing clicked for me until i saw griffs way, glad you're making a video on it now luke!
For everyone reading, here it is worded in a way that makes sense to me and hopefully a couple other people that are still looking to turn tutorials into skills. Im currently learning air roll and this is what it boils down to simply: As soon as you’ve viewed Griff’s and others’ tutorials covering what the different stick directions do for you when you are rolling, you have everything you need. The part I figured out on my own that I felt wasn’t covered in enough detail is that your goal is to be able to recognize how the instantaneous orientation of your car in a given moment can be influenced by the stick directions which you’ve already learned. That is, you’ll be required to know to use say stick up+right in a situation where your car hood *isn’t* facing the camera. Put even more simply, you’ll have to know when and how to use all of the basic directions inputs in any orientation. This is difficult as the rolling makes the resulting movement non-straightforward. It’s also important to know that if you roll the left stick at roughly the same angular velocity as your car is rolling, you will continue the adjustment you made until you input another adjustment. Example: I use air roll right on circle/B, if I input up when my hood is facing the screen, and continue to roll the stick to the right, I will nose down and essentially do a front flip and wind up with my nose pointing down (while still rolling) until I input another small adjustment or let go of the stick. And you can start this circle with the left stick on any point in a rotation, from any point on the left analog. Hopefully this makes sense to some of you. I’m doing my best to relay 15+ hours of rings and freeplay practice. And if it helps even just one person understand or makes something click, I’ll be satisfied.
I also noticed that this works the way you just described, but yet I didn't manage to incorporate this into my navigation in the air. Maybe the tiny things of knowledge that you just added there will make the difference for me. Thanks man!
It’s so difficult understanding what your inputs are gonna make the car do, In my opinion, tutorials have to be in slow motion in different situations. Like ground to air dribble and let us see in slow what movements they’re doing. Or wall to air, I didn’t understand if I have to do rotations with the analog stick or keep it up or doing circles.
i know its old but losfelts method kinda helped me work around learning all the different axis of movement one should take into consideration when air rolling. Basically all a question of building a rythmic pattern with joystick circles and adjusting by holding or spinning it reverse. It'll take some time but eventually you'll start to feel the car responding to your constant inputs and thus make changes according to what feedback is constantly being given
honestly best video that you have made tutorial wise honestly W like i watched that video but your knowledge + his knowledge is amazing because i took many things from griff's video and did good in rings maps but now this video has small things i didnt know or didnt understand PLEASE do more of these
kbm player here with 3k+ hours, just find it funny that flicking your joystick around randomly was mentioned cuz I never did anything analogous to that when I was learning it. I started with just q+s and then q+w and then later q+w+d, q+w+s, and recently I've been practicing more using q+a combinations. Now I just watch my fingers sometimes and think how crazy my fingers look and how random the inputs seem even though they aren't random at all haha. Anyway great video luke and griff as well.
Can you make a Video about what is the best Controller/Controller Layout gor playing Rocket League. And maybe ad a Controller Settings Tutorial , But with backbuttons
Arent you just creating a substitute for Griffith’s video? Like there is no reason for me to go back to his video because you are reacting to it and you give extra info. I think you should have made an actual tutorial instead of just giving commentary on someone else’s video and then call it the fastest way to learn air roll.
Luke my man, I am shocked that you talked about this! I got this video recommended to me and shared it on rl's subreddit saying the same exact thing as you! Lol, i even asked everyone to go support him. Do you need help with vid ideas? It seems we think alike lol XD
I learned by throwing paint at a wall. it took months of solid practice. and one day it just made sense. I can flip reset, but i can't always control direction with it yet. I can air dribble (could do that before directional air roll though) I chose air roll left. Right just feel awkward and clumsy to my brain. but some day i hope to know both inherently.
I try the Grifflicious way and SpookLuke way and nothing :( but I skipped the part of learn how fly back and both side of the car, maybe is that, I will start again with this part to see if Im improve
i’ve noticed that everyone i play with on here doesn’t realize there is a learning curve when starting out so they get so upset when i mess up. It. makes me nervous and more timid which leads to more getting yelled at - sad
I think next gen consoles should be able to have the rings map. With the new consoles being powerful i dont see why not. Even then the devs could add it in
Im c1 and it literally feels like i have 0 control over my car using directional air roll lmao. I only use free air roll bc i can not figure out how to control the car using directional air roll🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
I can do neon height rings but Im trying to learn how to barel roll and not just turn my car I want to attualy learn how to turn my car twards the rings and not just flying left or right...
Yes bro everybody else just says tornado spin yadayada and Losfeld goes in depth on how to actually fly straight with directional air roll and everything and I havent even finished the video and it has taught me so much more than any other tutorial
can yall help i got a new controller and i literally cant diagonal input got another controller cant diagonal flip i was messing around with the deadzones but its not working when i go to epic i can diagonal flip on the same computer but steam I cant speedflip or anything even when i hold down air left and do a front flip I still cant speed flip when i ever point the stick diagonally and then flip it just registers as a jump and not a flip so i can only do sideflips frontflips and back
Yo ik your good at all this but like in this vid what ur mainly explaining is kinda for controller players while i play on kbm which makes it a little harder for me to understand
Says pillars are terrible but doesn’t provide a better alternative for console players??? Griff wasn’t saying pillars was better than rings, he was just saying if you can’t play rings then pillars is an option
I’m new to learning this and the nose of my car keeps dropping ? When trying to do the bit at start by controlling with just one d pad input? Any suggestions
Alot of different mechanics but the most beneficial ones which pros use Air dribbles, speedflips,Flip resets,Half flips and sometimes flicks and double taps
@zehar9 ? Repetition will do that for anything. I believe its bc its become the norm. Like following your tm8 on the wall instead of being center as second man. It's a bad habit everyone buys into
Bruh. How do i find somebody to coach me? When i get into the DC server, there are no channels to request coaching. And all the people are very often offline. And how do i DM the server? There's no option for that. And how do i get into ring maps? And has somebody made a tutorial including PC and keyboard? Because i don't like using controller, nor do i at all use it. I wish i was able to learn air roll. RC is a good game, but all of this has made me hate it.
Honestly at this point im going to quit playing Rocket league. I've been trying and trying but im just not going to achieve it. I've tried over and over again and nothing in these videos seem to help me at all. No i don't want a coach ,been there done that.
hey luke, i use lb/L1 for air roll left and rb/R1 for air roll left and have the rest on basically default so i just fatfinger my boost and jump/ballcam and powerslide, any tips on how i can prevent having to fatfinger it and get better (im c2)
Appreciate the kind words and support, my dude!
it's kinda sad he didn't put your channel anywhere tho.
Keep up the great tutorials mate, the community really appreciates it!

I haven’t even watched the whole video yet, but just wanted to say shoutout to the editor(s)! Video quality is top notch!
Why does he have to make a video based on @Grifflicious I wanted it to be a secret. He and Spookluke education. But glad he is getting more popular!

How?
@@jamesfindlay6626 simply google for outside map training pack
Cool now can someone please explain what an air roll is actually used for? I just keep seeing people spinning in the air like a torpedo

This dude made the intro to his RUclips video like an intro to naked and afraid 😂
Wish it was that easy. Just tornado spin and you are good. That’s not what happens when you try it with a ball
