There's a lot more to this car than just an interesting engine and drive train swap. Josh and Nigel are the mentors at the Bumpstop Car Mods and Mentoring program, a place where kids who have learning difficulties, behavioural problems or challenging life situations can get their hands dirty, learn some skills, and share in their passion for building project cars. And this AE94 Corolla, affectionately known as "MISSFIRE" is their latest project. Built almost entirely in the Bumpstop workshop by the kids and their mentors, this project deserves praise on so many levels and we take our collective hat off to Josh, Nigel everyone involved in it. Who thought getting kids to tinker with cars could be both educational and rewarding? Where were inspiring people like Josh and Nigel when we were wayward youths?! (apologies for the annoying hum in the background - it was absolutely pouring down on when we were shooting this video) Full write-up on this car here: www.haltech.com/haltech-heroes-bumpstops-ls-powered-rwd-corolla/
Do you guys know If there's some way I can send these guys a hundred bucks for their parts budget or something, are they set up for that? I don't have facebook.
If everyone was like these two guys the world would be a better place. Haltec is awesome for recognizing it and helping them out with parts AND exposure!
This would have helped me soooo much when I was a lil shit distubing teenager. So angry, so aimless, no one to turn to. This program would have changed my life and I woulda loved it. Im glad these guys are out there making these opportunities available to todays shit disturbers who arguably have it tougher than we did back in the day. I don't have the means to donate but I'm forsure sharing this vid.
These guys are legendary. I wish I had some guys like this growing up, it would have saved me from myself haha Hats off to Heltech for sharing these guys story and hopefully get them some more funds and sponsorships!
Yes and i understand that you only supplied the parts but taking part of the community by supplying parts when Josh and Nigel needed help it means a great deal considering the kind of work they do with the youth all of you are heroes to me keep up the great work guys and this is implied to Josh, Nigel and the guys at Haltech.☺☺☺
This car brings a tear to my eye. I have a 2008 Camry and always thought it would be so dope to LS Swap and convert it to RWD. So low key and Grandpa looking.
This is a great program, I work for Fusion in the same office. I agree, these young people transform during this program, the environment of support and acceptance makes so much difference to these guys. To see their sense of achievement at the end is truly heart warming. Josh and Nigel go over and above for these young people and give them what they need, people who don't give up on them and give them hope that they can achieve if they try and work with others.
Well done Josh and Nigel from the UK, great story! I would love to do something like this when I leave the military, it must be so rewarding. Your a pair of legends 👍
Great initiative Fusion / Bumpstop - love the program & mentoring these young people wont be forgotten by them or yourselves. A great mix of practical learning and a lot of fun with the end product !!
Having a child with similar issues, I know first hand the difference a program like this can make to the life of a young person. Such a pity they are never funded adequately. Keep on keeping on guys
Loved hearing the mention of giving up part way through, this is something everyone has to deal with during a big project. so many "LS THE WORLD" half finished projects out there that are too butchered to go back to standard.. probably end up as parts cars. it's an awesome looking corolla, i wondered whether a GT4 celica running gear might even "bolt in" to some extent into one, unlike project binky needing a few brackets. V8 conversion is cool using all the commodore suspension also.
With all the current crap happening and 2020 so far pretty much written off. This has been such an uplifting video to appreciate life skills and cars. This is a great example of a program that can truly engage with the youth. You nailed it with the communication and conversation comment. All the best to both Haltech and Bumpstop. Definitely sharing this with colleagues to help inspire their day and to reach out to those who need some guidance.
Not forgotten by all my friend. Go to the hoonigan auto focus channel and watch the video Larry Chen did on a beautiful vintage restoration Colt/Lancer. Think it was a '79 or there about. You'll be drooling like me im sure.
233 kw = 312 hp. Jeremy Clarkson would ask how they got such little power out of such a large engine. He might also ask why there's a Nigel living in Australia. ;-) !!

Thanks for the heartfelt comment:)
Thank you for such a honest comment and we really do appreciate you sharing the video.
Getting these kids hooked on Ls swaps early will surely take any spare money they might have been able to spend on drugs and alcohol. (Kidding)
Sad but true, probably spent over a grand in just bud over 1 year
What a great idea, I wish there had been something like this when I was growing up. Really great work guys 👏🏼
When did you grow up? 1850's?

To the guys at Haltech thank you for being part of this build as a viewer of your channel i have to say you guys are awesome.☺☺☺
Thanks but we only supplied some parts, Josh, Nigel and the kids are the real legends.

Nice one fellas. Well done.
You guys are geniuses and it’s good you are mentoring the youth 👍🏼🙏😀

About time someone made a corolla/camry based project car with an odd ball engine swap.
So beautiful... A toyota corolla small body...
I wish that there will be a mitsubishi lancer 89-92 model aka "singkit" the forgotten lancer...

Awesome car. Awesome blokes.
Absolute legends 👍🏼
Love this, great work guys. 13.1 is a bloody good time for a corolla. Haha. And a stock LS1 for that fact. Cam and a high stall, she,LL really boogie.
LS Corolla 🤯🤯
Awesome, on ya boys
love those guys 👍
Wow, this what we need more of! Great work🙌🏾
Great idea guys and what a cool build definitely thinking outside the box 👌
@7:00 poor Scotty...like watching a bear trying to fit in a pickle jar.
She sounds healthy!
Impressive.. id of loved to of got into this as a youngster... you guys are cool man!
That’s a nice story
Seriously - who are the f#$wits who gave this a thumbs down?!
From the home alone movies to Tuning cars.
Love the project btw... Keep up the good work
Just needs a 150 shot of NOS to make it truly terrifying!
The plan is a fresh motor and twin turbos. Hopefully by early next year.
I wish that I had something like this when I was a kid. There's nothing like this in NZ
Just love this
Good guys
This is a cool build
But the build with the kids is way cooler
Wish I could do something like this.
this title has me intregued
My question 🙋🏽♂️ is did attain the stock front cross member ? Where did you weld the engine mounts?
I'm only making plans for Nigel.
that's probably the only corolla id own.
Wow

How did you reinforce the chassis to deal with so much stress
Which version LS engine did you use? Is it an LS2?
Easier graft would be using AE95 floorpan as already has driveshaft tunnel and is setup for same solid diff as AE86.
Hi I'm Nijo.
Hey guys, I’m trying to do something like this. Would be cool to put it on the road, can we do that in Sydney?
Where can I get the tail gate/rear end door for a Corolla like this????
I have the 2 door version and my back windshield broke.... It has been quite expensive sourcing one..
Is this auto transmission powered by haltech ?
No the transmission is still controlled by the factory ecu from the donor commodore
4L60? Didn't the vy ss get the 4L80 or 65?
What size are the tires?
I am a troubled youth, need help how can I get in contact with you guys for a build?

312hp, for those that don’t want to have to translate from silly units.
Least its easy to get in and out of.
I'll ship you a Eaton M90 & intake if you want.
Why?
Because they can!
If only shit like this was legal in Denmark...
I wanna 5.3 rwd swap my 04
Whats that hp # in freedom units?
320hp for now the aim in the future is 600hp
320hp = 238kW, 600 = 447kW
@@haltech yay thx!
@@bumpstopcarmodsmentoring 600 on something that light is rowdy!
adam lebednik yes it shore will, but it is actually a very stable car, far more than we ever expected. I guess time will tell 😁
Hey. I know that dyno man.
If idiot kids start asking me to fix their cars because of you I expect a free ECU
Tax free churches? If it means LS corollas then it can't all be bad.. 😂

is it roadworthy? or did you teach unruly kids how to build an illegally modified car
It's a track car specifically built for that purpose. Was never intended to be road registered.
