The music reminds me of my 60s/70s childhood in Manchester, England. We were poor and lived the atypical grim wet n miserable 3 day weeks, strikes, blackouts life mostly in the early 70s. I’m not surprised that many working class northern teenagers couldn’t connect with the uppity prog rock or goofy commercial glam rock that was popular then. It seems a no brainer for those kids to lose themselves in the uptempo energetic and beautiful dreamy US soulful music of that era and made idols of struggling soul stars and the music their own. I’m glad they did because the NS scene inspired a clutch of famous pop stars and dance music DJs of the 1980s and beyond.
50yrs of Northern Soul and counting. It will stay with me until I die. It made me happy all those years ago when I first got into it, it still has the same effect now.
I am now retired and Northern Soul still makes me move and still runs through my veins, will never change. I loved those days and wish I could go back to them.
As an original NS fan born in 59 great to see younger people enjoying something other than the contemporary popular music garbage on offer , which basically is what we were doing in the 70's.
Elite tier Northern Soul... packed sweaty dancefloor, synchronised claps... gritty real ass R&B. The genre that just keeps picking up fans. Great to see NS getting love from the younger ones.
Love ❤love love ! This song .im now an oldie but still get on the floor at the Rivoli ballroom.love seeing the young ones dancing .this is the sounds that still make me happy .
They say northern soul will be with them till they die, well that won't do for me,it's coming with me from my grave, trust me on that.been playing the tunes all over since 1977 and being dead won't stop me.
I recognised a couple of the stars rehearsing there from the Northern Soul movie - Elliot Langridge and Josh Whitehouse. They were really getting into it, wouldn’t surprise me if they’re now committed to KTF for life 😊
Johnny Spence and Mick Greene continued as the Pirates for several years after his sad death. Saw them many times. Then we lost Mick Greene. Such an influence on some great guitarists (Wilko etc) Johnny Spence still doing his thing with Doctors Orders.
What a brilliant video - great song and fantastic dancing! Is this a video from the present day? It's got a 1970's feel and some of the clothes/hairstyles are very authentic, but some of the people have a present look day about them. Doesn't really matter... I love it!
You and all the other "originals" who fool themselves they have an exclusive right to claim NS as theirs, and only theirs! I was there, way back when, and the delight I get from seeing/hearing new generations catching the bug.......wipes out all sad memories of lost loved and absent friends, who didn't make it....who fell by the wayside......
Fake and pretentious. Age 20 I had designed for every opera singer on the planet. I'd been going to the 100 Club for 3 years and every newies nighters up north every weekend. These videos make my blood boil. Just sodding dance to Jimmy Mack and get on with it. We all know whom Bud Ross was so I will shut my mouth. I love your posts. I was and still am an ethereal dancer that looked as miserable as sin. 😉 Elsin Franinstein is a peasant.

Film “Northern Soul” from 2014, but set in 1974
Absolute classic 😂
Glad you enjoyed it, Cath! 😂👍
@@northernsoulsongs it's years since I've heard this but will be requesting it very soon, local DJs make sure you've got it!
I sure did 😂 thanks
Where were these wonderful dancers filmed ?
They were filmed in New York, Diane.🗽💃
That's the 100 club on Oxford Street London. Know it well as attended it's monthly Northern Soul night for several years.
Reall dancing unlike what the dance comp at Blackpool has turned into, a complete farce.
❤❤❤
What year was this?where's the flares and baggies, film looks oldish but clothing looks modern.
Aaaargh there wasn't always a northern soul uniform.
Born in the wrong time 😢
Actors.
Trying hard to replicate...good try but those golden times can NEVER be lived again as there is only one "first time " ❤
It's all in the music and this music will last forever northern soul keep the faith the first time is still going
These youngsters aren't "trying to replicate" anything!
