The fact that the Sorrow duology is constantly changing meta just shows how deep and versatile these games are. Anything can be good in the right hands and this is the mark of a great game.
This could have easily been just an upload of your discussion on twitch but you took the opportunity to show off your points visually which was SUPER cool and made some visual jokes along the way. Thank you for this EXCELLENT enhancement of that twitch discussion!
Yorick has an added caveat: you need malphas with it or you're restricted to grounded targets. Not a problem in the vanilla game. Can make a big difference in the randomizer. It's akin to getting skeleton farmer and only having une to use it with, patiently hoping alura une shows up.
I think that's why Dawn is my favorite randomizer to play. There are things in the game that are just absurdly strong, to the point where it's hard to consider other things. Which is a shame because it really has a very large middle ground, a lot of things are good. So when you play it randomized there's a lot you can work with and since "Go Mode" can be reached very quickly you often end up with very different soul decks to play with between runs.
As a person that used Alura Une and Skeleton Farmer on their casual playthrough, it makes me smile to see it on this list. I think it was like you pointed out, most people didn't realize you could tap the screen and direct the attacks, and tapping it made it go faster than letting it attack on it's own.
When I first played Dawn, Mandragora was my favorite red soul, period. Used it as nearly my main source of damage. So when, in other videos, you mentioned Mandragora being "too expensive" in Dawn, I was legitimately confused. Wasn't going to comment about it since it's really not important, but every time that comment came up, it left me scratching my head.
This is why the Sorrow games are so good. I just finished my first playthrough and I didn't even use most of these. Now I want to start up another game already.
my favorite souls from this game: mini devil - once you get to a high enough level and the soul is buffed it turns into a mini succubus and fires more rapidly with stronger attacks. witch - homing projectiles with high hit points for a relatively low cost treant - faster mp recovery, at a high enough level your familiars barely use any mp at this point.
yeah, I remember even at the time you made that tier list, people were telling you that you slept on Mandragora. it was my go-to soul for my initial casual playthrough, above Erynis and even Abadon. that being said, it is hard to argue with the insane damage Guillotiner does and the type advantage Erynis offers. also, HOLY SHIT, Devil Dethrones Malacoda?!?
@JupiterClimb can you recommend a video that teaches the techniques you use in your videos? Particularly zipping to the end and getting hippo and panther at the very beginning of the game?
Looked at all these comments and I see no mention of Nyarly! Astounding, as much as he gets memed on for his lack of strats, I appreciate the man for doing Dawn runs in 2022, and he is the reason I found this channel.
I always thought mandragora was at least great. Even on a first playthough it’s super strong and easy to spam Ps: I also really like how you look at the game. Always optimistic and fluid
Are any of the other castlevanias like aria or dawn of sorrow? They're both so cool with the souls and weapons. I just wanna play one that feels very RPG with alot of grinding potential
Wait, Mandragora doesn't get skeleton farmer boost? Also it's stronger then 9 Lilith with Alraune? Does that mean the Une/Alraune combo is even better with Skeleton Farmer???
Is this the Castlevania with a rocket launcher in it? Or one of them at least, idk. I remember playing this on the DS, this and harmony of despair are pretty fun
Skeleton Ape is the soul that does this, although that does come into competition with other Enchant souls. Like Lilith, for instance, as while it may not necessarily be the #1 Enchant soul for a build focusing on Yorick, the INT Boost that can potentially be +18 is not something to scoff at.
Idk if anyone knows... But I tried to play this on the RG351 with AmberElec and right at the beginning there's a part where it seems one has to use the touchscreen in order to get through (?) by "drawing a seal" or something. Is there a way to skip that? How is that done on original hardware?
What most people do is patch the game to remove the touchscreen features. The best and most comprehensive patch is Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow - Definitive Edition+ but there are also patches that only remove the touchscreen mechanics without modifying anything else.
@@MyParrotIsGrassType Big thank you man. It was obvious I guess but still didn't even think to search for mods (thinking touch may be too integrated into many of the games to fix; didn't have an original DS back in the day). Castlevania and the advance wars titles are the first ones I'll be checking out. Thank you for reminding me that mods exist; proper derp moment. 😛 Will check out DE+
Yeah I agree devil is super fun. I always liked abilities that makes you an offensive monster at the cost of life, part of why I loved Dark Souls 1 power within + red tearstone ring, that would make any weapon look viable lol
Mobile is the definitive way to use alura une, and i know, some nintendo DS' still exist, but due to the wider screen and avaibility, Mobile is much better.

Waiting for the Werewolf tech to emerge one day
Werewolf is my most disappointing soul personally
@@erhanjpg1467 same
@@erhanjpg1467 bruh werewolf makes souls like killer clown and mandragora OP beyond belief
It turns them into machine guns
@@ThePointlessBox_ there are easier ways to do damage in dawn that require less mp

"Konami's Best" Dawn always gets me 😂

This list makes me happy. Alura Une and Soccer Yorick have always been some of my favorite souls
That soccer meme absolutely got me
Alura Une Soul.
When the Touch Screen is actually useful for once in Dawn of Sorrow.
Yorick dive kick tech reminds me of ricoshots from ULTRAKILL, and i can't tell you why

You guys had Ronaldinho soccer is gringa? Omg hebeheh
Huh, it's never even crossed my mind to try divekicking Yorick.
Jup!!! I’m loving these new info videos, keep up the hard work!
glad i found this channel again, its great having something to listen to while i play these games
Love this series Jup, huge fan of the long form randos and such but the edited videos create such a nice variety!
I never noticed the touch screen features on the Alura Une, wow.
Great video. I've subsribed to watch all your others

Woah unique upload for JC! Would like to see more!

this video makes me wish we get to see a "how to" on castlevania speedrun tips.

4:01 Alura Une saw what Dario did to the room and got pissed
Called that Devil would somehow be here
Jupiter be like M O O S H O O S U
I had no idea I was misusing Yorick this whole time! 😱🤯
Alura Une can also combo with Une, it'll throw Une each times it attacks for free
I knew about a mandragora and manticore and when I'm replaying Dawn of sorrow I'm always using it, but I not used other souls.
@JupiterClimb can you recommend a video that teaches the techniques you use in your videos? Particularly zipping to the end and getting hippo and panther at the very beginning of the game?
2 for 2 on edited videos! Great job again, can't believe Alura Une is that good.
Man, this game is sooooo good That i dont mind the 3245km of castle to explore
Mandragora works well with Skeleton Ape. Throws further for a nice ranged attack.
Skeleton Ape increases Mandragora range.
Imagine TAS speedrun with yorick soul only.
I knew final guard was pretty good from aria of sorrow when I used it to cheese the Julius fight, but it's a pleasant surprise to see it in top tier
Quirked up Soccer Boy
Yorick does illegal amounts of damage, so goated!
Mandragora was my favorite red when I first played Dawn! It is just great, but hearing that damn scream every time got old really quick lol
Mushusuuuu have top tier seal of quality
Nice Video!!!
Red Minotaur was my favourite to use in Aria, its hitbox got nerfed in Dawn.
Looked at all these comments and I see no mention of Nyarly! Astounding, as much as he gets memed on for his lack of strats, I appreciate the man for doing Dawn runs in 2022, and he is the reason I found this channel.
It would be great if you make a tier list on which souls are worth levelling up in both aria and dawn of sorrow
wait, souls level in aria?

This is one of greatest game i have on my 3ds

Your best bet is probably Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night!
the chef john of castlevania.

Iirc there is a soul that alters the throwing arc of weapons and that can be paired with Yorick for easier kicking
Skeleton Ape is the soul that does this, although that does come into competition with other Enchant souls. Like Lilith, for instance, as while it may not necessarily be the #1 Enchant soul for a build focusing on Yorick, the INT Boost that can potentially be +18 is not something to scoff at.

Nice souls!👍
7:42 - 7:55...lol. Yorick. (Alura Une throws Une at foes...Skeleton Farmer so op for plants.)
I prefer Great Armor to Manticore and its poison counter part
Did you...edit this?!
I did :)

Lol
this is a rank for speedrun players. what would be a rank for casual players? devil is awful for a guy like me lol
Nice meme.
If you wanna split hairs, double jump is the best soul but that's their fault for making abilities into souls instead of relics.

Toxic streamer spreading lies about the best weapon smh
