@@GrassRootsGarage There's a front cover feature of Hot4's way before the magazine Jon is reading. The car was originally plated MRCRX2. The MR CRX plates were on an earlier model CRX. The issue featured both MR CRX and MRCRX2 on the front cover. This was their first introduction to the scene and then came a few different versions to finally what we see it now.

I remember everyone drooling over this thing back in the day & it was stunning! the paint jobs back then were amazing. ive still got almost all issues of hot 4s from '98 -'00
Late 90's - 2000's was the best time for modified cars and car shows IMO. Attention to detail etc was awesome, I do miss those days. I'd have to go back through my logs, but I may have judged the sound system in this car at a Autosalon IASCA sound off in Brisbane way back then. So cool to see it still going.
I miss them old car show days from late 90 early 2000 now I enjoy all events classic n muscle now. Motor x n tuff Streeters and prostreet media event down in Melbourne
This was the best video to watch. Pete, great job with the footage and interview with JP. Killer job. Im so glad this iconic car is in the right hands. Great job in bringing it back to its former glory. It looks amazing. Great job JP.
@@GrassRootsGarage . Wasn't this actually mrcrx 2. The original was many years before this. I'm still building that Datsun 1600 when you coming to check it out ? It's in honour of tody. And pretty cool if I do say
100% Broadwater carpark days were the best!!! The car scene has absolutely died in qld but slowly making a comeback. I doubt it will ever be like it was in the late 90s early 2000s. Everyone had so much respect for the cars back then. Be it 4cyl, 6cyl v8 or rotary. They were the golden days.
The fish tank HAD to stay. I'm glad he kept it. Iconic back then and forever as an embodiment of the excesses of modified cars. As for CRXs, there was another one around at the same time that was painted Holden Tiga Mica and had very dark tinted tail lights. I can't remember whether or not it had custom plates. Other than the Lancer/ Mirage, the CRX/ Civic were THE defining cars of the Hot4s scene. The subtle chequered pattern on this CRX was not something that I recall, but now that it has been brought to my attention it reminds me of another car, 'MR MTX' was the plate, and it was a Civic. I suspect that it was an MTX promo car. It was grey with a black chequered patten across the front quarter, front bumper and bonnet. I wonder where it got to...
I had a set of 18 inch G Zero's that I sold like 6 months before Jon bought the car, if Id have know, Id have held onto them so they could have gone on this! And yes Ive asked the guy I sold them to and he's not selling them back hahha
Remember 4rbaby the crx it won as well which one you think was better leave a comment 🤙🇭🇲. Auto salon and all the car shows backthen were sick late 90s to mid 2000s miss those days my brother passed away in 05 he took me everywhere 😢

I remember this car in hot 4’s magazine over 20 years ago.
I still have the magazine 😊
That's the magazine Jon is reading in the first 10 seconds 👌
