- FIRST LOOK: The Integra is back and Acura is some sport and luxury for the 2023. This Integra will go up against the Honda Civic Si, Hyundai Elantra N, and VW Jetta GLI. On the outside of the A-Spec you will see totally different sheet metal, 19in wheels, and carbon fiber accents. On the inside there is a 10.25in digital display, along with a 9in infotainment screen. Under the hood is a 1.5L turbocharged inline-4 that produces 200HP & is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Is the NEW 2023 Acura Integra A-Spec a BETTER car than a Honda Civic Si?

the si's power was underrated by honda. it should be the same with the teggy

Beautiful inside and out and hopefully that CVT is tuned enough that makes it fun to drive too!
I just want to say how much you and your wife rock. You're always quick to put out content on new cars. Unbiased w/ great attitude and feel to your videos. Keep up the great work!
I spent an hour plus looking at the Integra Prototype at Radwood in November and honeslty I wasn't all that impressed with the exterior styling...somehow it looks so much better in a different color with these wheels. I'm holding out for a Type S (*Hopefully with a 6MT*) and I'll buy one. THanks for the early review. You never, ever disappoint us fans!
I just want them to bring back a type R Integra
acure style hasn't changed since the TLX, looks 2000 ish, not a good look. BTW tesla can kill this easy

That exhaust sounds great. I kind of had a low expectation of the car as I thought its not that much different than a Civic Si.
Sounds like Acura took the resonator off the Si exhaust
@Raiti's Rides, excellent! Those 19 inch wheels are the optional accessory upgrade wheels as they all come in 18 inch shark grey.

The new Integra has grown on me. Still not what we all “wanted” but this will be an excellent addition to Acura’s lineup. If I were to get one it’d be the A-Spec Tech with the 6MT in white w/ red interior and the carbon fiber appearance package.
I like the way you think!
It is a good looking vehicle but I think acura would've had more success if they had branded it the rsx instead. It's alot more similar to that in my opinion

Thank you Raiti's Rides for leading me to my new car buy! All of your videos are so informative and cool to watch. Personal options do differ, so I appreciate your funny input and facts! The Integra in my opinion is the best bang for your buck in it's class. And sunroof is standard in all models. I'm sold!
I don’t understand the hate for this car. Dating back to the old Integra, it has always been an fancy Civic. This is only the base Integra (based on the Civic Si), that’s why it only has 200 hp, the Type S will get the K20C1 from the Civic which has over 306 hp. The new Civic is best in class so how is the Integra being a even better Civic a bad thing? Many features on this that you can’t get in the Civic Si, a HUD, ambient lighting, USB-C, wireless charging, leatherette seats, heated seats, better materials, better sound system, digital cockpit, a hatchback which has more cargo room, a WAY better exhaust, etc. This is a CLA, A3, 2 Series competitor, so it’s not trying to beat your GTI, Golf R, Elantra N, or GR Corolla. This will sale good.
Only complaint is the CVT, no performance car should have a CVT.
But it’s priced in this Aspec trim same price or more then the GTI and Elantra N. So it competes with them price wise. The type s integra will be damn near 50k probably.
Base integra back in the day had 140hp dohc vs the base civic 107hp and single over head cam.. completely different cars to the civics.. thia integra is basically a civic si nothing different from the engine.
@@civicpride1986 Base Civic has 158 hp, Base Integra has 200 hp. It’s literally the same now.
@@Tsand4 It’ll cost more because it’s marketed as a class above them. The Integra is a A3, CLA250, BMW 228i Gran Coupé competitor per Acura. The Civic Si’s competitors are the GTI, N-line (Not N), GLI, etc. Compared to the Integra’s competitors, you get a lot of value. The Type S won’t be inexpensive but it also shares a architecture with the best handling FWD car ever made.
I wanted a Coupe but I understand why there isn’t one and I agree with the CVT, they should’ve used the 8 speed DCT from the CDX to pair with the 1.5t, another complaint is the lack of rear air vents. Otherwise, this Integra is a cheaper, more spacious and probably more fun (because 6 speed) alternative to the A3, A220/CLA and 2 series Gran Coupe. Can’t wait to see the Type S.
Hoping for a future TypeS variant with a 6-speed manual!
And boy does that car sound great!
Right! I wonder how they would do the fender flares on the TypeS. 🤔🤔
Type S…it needs to be a Type R.

Right on the money when you said it’s a rare case of the production car looking better than the prototype! That yellow prototype got major hate, but man the production design looks great! I recently bought a 21 Accord 2.0 Sport and I love it, but this car has me thinking hard about a future Integra.
People crap on this for not enough power. Well 200hp is plenty for doing 65-75 on the highway. I've had base 1.8 civics before so this will be a nice treat. Why do we need to get to 60 so fast? We're just going to cruise and relax for the 300 mile trip to my dad's. Trust me, the car could be way slower.
Because they only think a car needs to have 500 horsepower and go 0-60 in 3 seconds.
People aren't whining about the new 86 or Miata power output and 0-60 times.
@@barbecuetechtips6024 yes 💯. I like to have fun on a back road from time to time but my 300 mile trip to visit my dad this would be roomy, comfy, fun and good on gas.
It's a base model; this is actually pretty good. They need to leave room for a Type S model.
I don't think people really "need" a sub 6-sec 0-60 car. Of course, there is also more to life than being as pragmatic as possible. Some want to enjoy the driving experience - which means different things to different people.
Some people like to feel pampered in a plush interior, even though one could hardly call that a "need". Some people like driving big a** trucks, even if they have no practical use for one. Some people buy $65k Teslas to "save money".
And some people like to go fast, quickly. 🙂

The 19" wheel is optional on the A spec tech package, correct? 18" is standard I believe.

Hey j , should I upgrade my regular civic sport to this new integra , my lease is up next year and this car caught my eye. Or should I look at other cars. I do live on the east coast, sometimes I do takes trip but I mostly use the car for myself :)
I had the 94 Integra and loved it. Handled curves beautifully. So glad it is back and hope to buy one soon.
I have owned my G2 Integra for 20+ years, I was super excited to see the Integra badge come back. I don't mind the 4 door, more so being that I have a family now and need the extra doors. I will say, I think the dashboard in the SI looks far better. This is definitely on my mind to replace my 18 STI, but Acura really needs to get the Type-S details out ASAP. With the Corolla GR announcement the Integra is sadly getting less appealing to me, and they are clearly aiming for my demographic of previous Integra owner needing a family car.
This looks better abd more premium. Compare side by side. Look at the interior door panels, carbon fiber like trim, more soft touch along the center
We had a 86 integra in the 80s. It was a amazing car. Reliable and fun.
Great review. Man I wish they would have gone with a larger 4 cylinder
I got a red 1994 Acura integra LS 216k. Bought new in 1993. Use it to deliver groceries. Almost an antique
Have a year left on my current Honda lease, but already looking forward to getting my hands on one of these! I have owned Honda's since 1990 and have nothing but great things to say about the ones I have owned (CRX, Civic, Three Accords, and a Ridgeline) I have wanted a Civic Si Hatchback for years. This in my mind is perfect for what I want--sporty hatchback (liftback) with tech and comfort. Since I have some medical issues I need one car with an automatic in case things flare-up. So sadly I will probably get the CVT version. I still have the Porsche 911 Cabriolet with manual 6 speed so I don't feel bad about that. Love the video and actually getting to see it outside and hear the engine note! I am just not sure about this white interior...
It looks between good and ok, the exhaust sounds good, I still don’t love it, but my complains are, why not a 2.0T engine available ?, why a CVT and not the 8 speed DCT that Acura makes that is in the previous model TLX, amazing transmission btw or even the 10 speed, why they didn’t make the interior a bit more different than the civic, it’s one of those that if you cover the steering wheel badge some people may say it’s a civic and I’ll totally get that
Pricing, that's why. 6mt is all that matters! They've hinted there will eventually be a Type S version. Hopefully there is and that'll likely get the 2.0t.
yeah they will more than likely put the 2.0t in the type S, like the rsx base had the civic si engine for that generation and then the type s had the civic type R engine (a similar version anyway) for that generation
I’m just happy they have a manual tranny- if you’re getting the auto….ahhhh….maybe looking @ the wrong car man. They will offer the 2.0t but it’s going to be a higher trim type-S….maybe they’ll give that a “better” auto trans, or better yet….maybe you can ONLY get the manual in the type-s (or type r?)
Yeah the interior isn’t much different. Tbh I like the look of the civics more. Basically ur paying extra for heated seats, better audio, and a hatchback. I don’t understand why they didn’t just make a higher trim SI to include those features or why there’s not a bigger engine option
@@GetR0bbed There will be a bigger engine option in the Type S.

Good job Acura
i guess the type-s is just the type r which is good
Smart for Acura to offer this as their entry into the brand. I would strongly consider this instead of a Civic.
Unless you’re getting the top trim model, civic sport touring is a better deal. But if you are willing to spend all that additional money, there are better choices in the same price range. Just my opinion.
It was a ILX before they renamed it an integra lmfao.
Why?
@@MrRajee09 LMAO i hope no one buys anything besides the top trim, CVT garbage

I've got a reservation on a carbon metallic 6mt a spec w/ tech. Was super happy to see this review, still pumped to have my opportunity to own one.
These look quite nice. Curious - does the A Spec w/ tech package include Homelink compatibility? I know you can get it on the TLX, but haven't seen anything suggesting it will be available on the Integra. I know it isn't available on the Civic Si (at least in the States), and none of the early preview videos have touched on the feature. Would hate to have to retrofit a system... for a $30k+ car it should be a standard, or at the very least part of the tech package since they're giving you access to the wireless Apple Carplay/charging goodies...
Dang. I really like this car. The only issue is that I’m set on getting an automatic for my next car. I live in a congested city with lots of traffic and hills. I don’t think I could do a cvt. I think the only option I’m looking at right now is a GTI or Hyundai product (meh). So I guess GTI with dsg is it for me.

Great review Joe. I love your reviews and presentation. The interior looks too much like the Civic. I'd rather get a Forte GT. I still get 200 hp and a seven speed dual clutch. With this I would have to get a CVT if I wanted automatic. If the interior looked great I would get this but Forte GT makes way more sense than the Integra plus I get a nice Harmon Kardon stereo with the Forte.
I can honestly say I am warming up to the car the more I see it. Thanks Joe and Lori.
One thing I noticed that I wish I had in my Civic is the option to disable the Idle Stop function without having to press the button every time. At 14:51 you can see that option is available there.
That's so true! I hate the idle stop function too. I thought there would be a way to disable it in the Civic but was disappointed.
Nice Integra and I think it's a dandy but even though pricing is yet to be written in stone I still love the Integra. Why don't auto makers give out official info when they release the car?
I love it a sport back manual transmission luxury sedan!!! I know to the enthusiasts it wasn’t exactly what they wanted. From a business sense this is an excellent vehicle for the market. I’ll likely be getting one!
Yeah the only disappointing part of this car imo is the number of doors. I love coupes way more than sedans, but ultimately it's not a big difference.
4 doors makes it a lot more likely for my wife to give it the nod. I don't think I could get 3 kids in the back of a coupe. Thankfully my 944 doesn't have airbags so my oldest cad ride in his booster in the front seat.
under powered and over priced is what Acura is known for...its not an enthusiasts brand really outside the NSX which hardly anyone can afford.
@@michaelfried3123 compared to other cars in this entry level luxury segment, this is priced very well
@@ciello___8307 matter of opinion I guess. I got 330 hp, 6 speed and track suspension in a brand new '21 HPP/HP Mustang for mid 30's...and I'd clobber the snot out of that Acura!
This was great! Now we’ll just have to wait for the coupes
This is an exceptional review! My Acura Integra in blue looks amazing too! Sub and Like added!
I’m hopeful the Type S comes with the detuned Civic Type R motor from the Accord.
Man I’ve loved Acura/Honda for so long, but they really wuss out on giving their cars the horsepower they deserve
@@omairsh8 So true. Unless its got a R attached to its name, its in need of more power. Again, the only exception is the Accord.
Dang. I was hoping for an exclusive test drive, but that's okay. I'll be waiting for the real "On Throttle" in a couple of months.
Other than that, I hope this answers a lot of people's questions about the Integra that while it is a shared platform of the 11th gen Honda Civic Si sedan, this is not any cut and paste vehicle. Although the infotainment system is similar to the Si, it's clear that it's programming is all Acura. Everything is all Acura, not Honda.
the sound has me salivating holy crap😁
Great overview as always! Honda is supposed to start using Android Automotive at the end of the year so planning on waiting to see how the next refresh looks.
i actually have a 94 4 door integra :) my K20 swap is almost done!
Looks great!!
I agree.
Very nice review!! Does the glossy grill looks nice in person? In picture and video I find that it looks a bit cheap because it’s shiny/plasticky
Can't wait for this to come out. All those complaining about it not being a coupe probably can't afford to buy this brand new anyways. I've driven my coupe hatch back and while it is nice and all, as I am aging, and my priorities changing, I find myself wishing I had 4 doors.
The Integra looks great. I just wish they would have kept the 8speed DCT from the ILX for the automatic option.
Dual clutch made no sense though.
Same. I’d probably buy one if it had the DCT. Luxury performance and CVT doesn’t go together IMO. I like Honda’s CVT, but it’s got some performance limitations and you can’t really track it unless you want to destroy it.
@@barbecuetechtips6024 you can’t tune the CVT past a certain limit, unless you want it to give up the ghost. At least the DCT can take the extra power that the CVT can’t. It’s a missed opportunity for an auto option for this car
@@marcusmcneal7453 maybe it’s programmed differently for the Acura
It looks promising I just wish it had a bit more HP. I can't wait to see it in person and test drive it as well.
It’s on par with IlX but iLX gad dual clutch not sure about this car
@@Mr99Burns it's a CVT
@@Bionimetic looks good until I heard horsepower . iPad touchscreen .. and now CVT booo
I purchased a white Honda Civic Sport Touring Hatchback this weekend. There were about 6 Hondas on the lot. I was there because my 2020 Toyota Corolla SE Hatchback was at the dealer for its 2 year checkup. To my surprise the saleswoman indicated that the truck had just dropped off the Honda. after waiting an hour or two while the Honda was being prepped, I took it for a test drive. The ride and driving experience was far superior to the Toyota!! The acceleration was quick and smooth! The tech upgrades that came with the Sport Touring model made it a no-brainer! The Bose sound system, all digital display, blind spot monitoring are just a few of the upgrades that factored in my decision. The used car market made the trade-in value of the Toyota $3,000 less my original purchase a few years ago. It was paid off also! Finally, after the Honda Dealer eventually folded on the special “market value” surcharges of $5,000 there was no way I could say no and purchased the vehicle at the MSRP of $31,000. The Acura Integra, is a vehicle I was considering but it finally came down to the old axiom of “A bird in the hand ✋ is worth two in the bush!” I’m very happy 😃!
The front grill has a hyperspeed look to it kinda like the Acura emblem is flying through space cool unique look
