    Old City Hall just completed a 4 year rehabilitation where they deconstructed and reconstructed the entire structure. They either fixed or replaced (when the sandstone was deemed unfixable) nearly all pieces of sandstone. All but 2 of the windows were replaced, all the window frames were restored, a new steel structure was added to the tower to prevent continued leaning, and the roof tiles were restored by the original company that created them. The plaza in front of Old City Hall was restored to how it appeared back when the structure was first opened.

    I can tell this was filmed sometime in 2010 because the Bow Building was still under construction at the time.

      Calgary, grew to fast with population, calgary held 100,000 people to a million with the same roads , the city is very slow at keeping up which caused a melting pot of expensive frozen ground no one's kids could ever aford , Calgary is more of a trap for money or money pit for almost nothing in return but congestion, bring lots of money because it's gonna cost you,
      The views are nice, thanks

    Title is misleading. It's not a guide about current Calgary, it's about the history of Calgary . . . which by the way most people don't care about and aren't looking for that information.

    Hi everyone,
    I currently live in Montreal and I'm planning on moving to Calgary soon. I'm very passionate about computer science, especially programming and I also have a lot of experience as a SYS Admin, technician. In short, I would like to inform myself more about the beautiful city that is Calgary as a new comer who is planning on living there, so my question is the following, is it easy to find a job in the computer science domain, either it be part-time or full-time? Any comments or experiences or advice is very welcome...Thank you!

      lol every time i see a tour guide of a Canadian City, they have such little to go on, that they start describing the interior/decoration of a house in the middle of nowhere. The fact is, there is not much else to talk about. Canada is a young and very poorly constructed country hen it comes to community And infrastructure/society wise. aside from Toronto everything town is nearly an identical copy of the next one, pretty much an indoor/strip mall life.

      cyano Not every Canadian city is bad. Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal are our flagship cities which are quite touristy and have a lot to do. And we also have lesser visited but still good cities like Ottawa, Edmonton, and Calgary. Compared to most of the world Canada's infrastructure is pretty good, we don't have collapsing bridges like America and collapsing buildings like China.

      I Guess I should have specified what I meant with "bad" Canada is not bad by world standards. It is doing amazing considering the fact that it is a Country in its infancy. I love living here for a lot of reasons. But sturdy bridges hardly make a city "cozy" or desirable to live in. Downtown districts are deserted and ruled by big companies instead of a core center to shop, hang out, have fun and enjoy,. Have you ever looked at it? It looks like a giant modern crematorium. Everyone lives in these Tupperware clone looking houses, which are all located far away from social society. And most likely have a view of a highway or nothing at all. Nature has been demolished wherever people live, everything is concrete wasteland, and huge deserted and unused parking lots or plots of dirt fill all the empty space ( which there is a lot of) in between everything. There is no place to go to except a strip mall, which is awful on its own. You are right, Toronto/montreal etc have done it a lot better, things to do, places to see, experience, walking is great because the layout gives a person something to walk to besides your local convenience store on a deserted plot of land lol. Canada is great for nature, it has great big cities. But everything else makes it really hard for people to socialize , meet people, enjoy the city and its vibes. My husband is from a smaller town and he fully agrees. I feel like a lot of Canadians feel this way.

    Very beautiful city, but many Brazilians are going to Canada, and finding many difficulties there, do not have jobs, have to take 15 thousand dollars, and end up returning to Brazil, after spending thousands of dollars. What business is this? They are authorizing the entrance so that the pseudo immigrants, spend everything and return home, and others fall into this trap. What a shame I had another image of Canada.

      Valdemar Froner ...to all immigrants wanting to come to Canada...DON'T.

    • @Esmeralda-gt6uf
      @Esmeralda-gt6uf 3 года назад

      It is the immigrant who chooses to immigrate. Canada does NOT compel anyone to come here, either as a tourist or as an immigrant.

  • @kensmith280
    @kensmith280 5 лет назад

    Keep in mind Calgary is a immigrant overload dump the health care system is a total failure and bring lots of cash for nothing that is worth it, Calgary is a sham of ripoff artists of scam , the true Calgarians are mostly all gone, chased out by the none stop satans government immigration dump on top of no jobs but thousands of immigrants dumped on top for 40 years what a horrible city of corruption. We call it the Satans governent immigration dump of replacement, Thanks but no thanks.
