His album Bat Out of Hell is one of the all-time greats. Each song better than the next.
45 million copies!
Bat out of Hell 2 is also fantastic! One great song after another. RIP, I have always loved you. One in a million. Thank you for gracing us with your presence.
@@PowderBlueML Yeah really. Wonder where all the record execs who turned it down are working now
6th best selling album of all time.
Once a person actually sees/listens to a Meatloaf performance it makes it impossible to dismiss his talent. He pulls the listener into the situation he is singing
♥️♥️♥️
He was an absolute force of nature
If you ever get the chance to go watch BOOH The Musical, go. The show adds a totally new dimension to the songs, just as Jimbo wanted when he wrote them.
The song is obviously sad and emotional, but when that third thing drops, it is just heart wrenching.
The piano player in the background wrote the whole album.Jim Steinmsn… just passed.
A great loss
I hadn't heard that. Definitely sorry to hear. RIP, Jim Steinman. You've left a legacy in just this album that will never be forgotten.
Meatloaf just passed today 1/21/22 where the composer goes the singer must follow.
Wow. They both passed. Meatloaf in one of his last videos that he up loaded, he was saying he was in tremendous pain with his back and spine. He said he had surgery scheduled the beginning on 2022. He said it was 3 different ones that were going to be done. And once he recovered he was planning on touring again. He stated because of his back problems that's why he lost all that weight. He wished us all well, and was looking forward to touring in the Summer or fall 2022. Within days of posting that video, he was gone. In my opinion I believe Meatloaf and the piano Guy, the man who wrote the whole Bat out of Hell Album will leave a mark on Our Music History.
He was a beautiful man and musician. Rip
Finally someone reacts to something by Meatloaf other than Paradise. Meatloaf is so much more than Paradise. One of the greatest singers and performer of all time. Love love love Meatloaf.
This album is a masterpiece but the two most Epic songs are the title track “Bat Out Of Hell” and “For Cryin’ Out Loud”. The intro and the outdo, the opener and closer. When I first listened to this album, no one was playing these songs on the radio, I only heard it because my brother brought it home.
“But there ain’t no Coup de Ville hiding at the bottom of a crackerjack box”…..this line still gets me after all these years….
For the kids in the audience, Cracker Jacks are candied popcorn & peanuts, which come in a box with small toy at the bottom.
Those are great lyrics but, my favorite lyrics of this song “but you’ve been cold to me so long I’m crying icicles instead of tears”
Just a touch of humor in a serious sad song. That's meatloaf
That's unfortunately an American centric quote, I have no idea what those words mean.
@@RaduRadonysI always took it to mean. ..you have something there and you will find some good in,it but no matter how good it may feel it will never be the "real thing" .Some think he's so cold and unfeeling in this song but I always felt he's just trying to explain why he can never give all 3, he had one love that hurt him so bad many years ago and he's built a wall and won't ever let someone hurt him like that ever again...sad,but I know the feeling exactly and have pushed people away all my life.
You are one of the few reactors who really took the lyrics to heart. You get it. Great reaction.
Meatloaf's "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights" is epic - you would really like it I think - but try to get the live video!
That one is AMAZING!!!!
It should be next! Harri will love it!!!
Definitely live video!
The whole thing is quite a performance!
The actual live video or the official video that largely looks live but is actually Meat Loaf and Karla (can't remember the last name) rehearsing with the album version dubbed over it?
The guy that's playing the piano is the brilliant, Jim Steinmann. He's the one that wrote almost all the songs that Meat Loaf ever sang.
Jim passed recently.
R.I.P. Jim. Your music lives on and is
loved.
Subscribed and all the other good stuff.
Like your channel. 😉
“ Bat out of Hell “ is like an opera! The album is just stunning, and it has really aged well!
Paradise by the Dashboard light should be soon. Thanks Harri
This is a must!!!
The honesty doesn't diminish the tragedy... it's one of those songs I heard as a kid, but took a couple decades of romances to grab hold.
I love this comment. Honesty doesn't diminish the tragedy.
This song is the epitome of the adage "Hurt People hurt people."
He's hurting the first girl that hurt him...
meatloaf...no shame in shedding a tear...i was a child when i first heard his work, and even to today, 20+ years later, though smiles, tears can still peek out.
Harry, "Once it's happened to you, it's easier to dish it out to someone else." Brilliant statement and, unfortunately, no truer words spoken.
RIP Meat Loaf 😢 What a voice.
I went to see him perform live in 1985. A show I will never forget. Bombastic vocal performance, delivered in a very theatrical way. And the entire band was fantastic.
Saw him in 2003 I think it might've been possibly just MAYBE'VE BEEN AT THE TAJ MAHAL IN A.C.
He was in the movie Rocky Horror Picture Show. His concerts were theater and music. Incredible talent. Jim Steinman is a legend.
I love Meatloaf! He is always so theatrical. His voice is wonderful. Thank you Harri! I enjoyed this so!
He’s so dramatic. Worth watching just for that! 🌺✌️
Oh I loved your face when he first sings “2 out of 3 ain’t bad”! What a song. Pure Meatloaf. It is what it is!
I listen to this song every single day. Bittersweet memories. Keep ‘em coming, Harri!
" for crying out loud " is so epic and the sentiment is the opposite to this song.
A great song! As indeed are pretty much all of his songs written by Steinman.
one of Meats most underrated songs is for crying out loud from this same album its one of the best love ballads ever written that is often overlooked, side note the man playing the piano is Jim Steinman who wrote many of meat loafs albums including this one
Meat Loaf called it the greatest love song of all time
@@paulcooper3410 i am inclined to agree
Some of the best lyrics in rock-n-roll are contained in this one song! Great tune, incredible vocalist! Great video Harry! 🤙
The whole Bat Out of Hell album is a stone-cold classic.
Many of his songs contain an element of ‘tongue in cheek’ humour… Great album! 👍
Harri, the genre POWER BALLAD perfectly sums up this number, fantastic vocals from the man himself, and the much missed composer on piano Jim Steinmann , this is one of the best albums of all time.
This guy is so versibble he can sing about anything you could think of and do it good !
A very underrated talent. He gave one of the best performances of the National Anthem before a baseball game. Don't remember the year. A lot of his videos are like mini operas.
RIP Meatloaf !! You were loved and respected!!
RIP Meatloaf! You will be greatly missed!
Just come across this channel after listening to a bunch of Meatloaf songs. I don't often like reaction vids, but I really enjoyed watching you let the music wash over you - you were really listening... great reaction comments too. Cheers dude
That entire album is really a timeless masterpiece….A true musical experience ❤️🎶RIP Meat Loaf…My first album in the 70’s❤️🎶
Always makes me tear up.
RIP Meatloaf
Wait til you review Paradise By The Dashboard Lights!!!
You are the only one I have watched the reaction to this song that got it right off. So far most of the others miss that his heart is already given away. Sad hurt people hurt others.
This album was my very 1st album i bought when I was in my early teens. Walked down to Woolworth to buy it with my grass cutting money. Lol. Although I didn't understand the meaning of the words in his songs at the time I bought the album then, just liked the music. At 56 and going through life's ups and downs. The lyrics to his songs have meaning and today I hear his music in a different light and sometimes they will bring up certain moments and a tear of happiness and sadness comes over me. In my opinion this album is one of the greatest in my history of music. Meatloaf is a true artist that seemed to put full emotion in his art.
There are only seven (7) songs on this all time classic LP, Harri, but each and every one of them is worthy of a reaction, so put them on your list! Also "See The Light" by Jeff Healey will blow you away!!
I totally agree with you on both of these points! Jeff Healey’s “ See the Light “ is just a primal scream of a blues tune! It is easily as powerful a song as “ Voodoo Child “ ( by either Jimi or Stevie ) ! 👍
Bat out of Hell is such a morality play! I was a teen when it came out, and every song was exciting and risqué. As the years go by, I see all the consequences in these songs. The moral of these songs seem to be “Be careful what you do.”
I love this song so much, its beautiful , the lyrics are beautiful and his voice shows the emotion this kind of song has to have
Love me some Meatloaf. He was an extraordinary talent. I watched his Big interview, with Dan Rather. I have to say that based on that, he was a great person too. Thanks to the digital age, although we have lost Mr. Marvin Lee Aday, his music lives on and its a great legacy. Thanks for covering this Harri. You’re the BEST. Lol
R.I.P Meatloaf ! 1947-2022 Age 74. The man sold over 100,000,000 million albums .
One of the greatest debut albums of all time. Paradise By The Dashboard, with the live video, is a must see and hear; so cheeky and risque but mostly great theatre.
In a 2003 interview for VH1 Ultimate Albums series, Jim Steinman (1947-2021, RIP) said he was complaining to friend Mimi Kennedy that he couldn’t get a deal. She suggested his songs were too complicated. Just then, Elvis' I Want You, I Need You, I Love You came on the radio & she said, "Why don't you write something simple like that." Steinman went home & “tried so hard” to write a simple song & “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad” was the result. He said, “still a twist, but it was my closest to a simple song & one Elvis could have done."
Don’t ever settle.
Meatloaf and several other bands considered this a new genre it was called rock opera even queen considered their music in this category meatloaf even did a movie called rocky horror show the movie became a fun type of cult it was a midnight movie and people in the audience would dress up as characters in the movie jump on stage an act out the part as the movie played it was a fun time for all but the movie is so bad (not good) but it was fun to watch someone with a 3 beer buzz to jump on stage the rest of the audience would cheer him on just good clean fun!
Yes! Queen and Meat Loaf were great operatic rock acts!
For crying out loud is a beautiful song.
The singer meatloaf just passed, January 21, 2022, rest in peace meatloaf, I remember everything to your lovely music.
Thank you for doing this, loved watching your face react to this song. Our beloved Meat Loaf passed away on January 20th, 2022, I can't stop his songs playing in my head. RIP beautiful man.
Meatloaf’s songs are wonderful stories. I think you might really like Objects in the Rearview Mirror May Appear Closer than They Are
I've always liked this song. Clever lyrics. Good job, Harri!
Hands down one of the greatest voices in rock and roll ever. RIP Meatloaf.
My mother has always loved this song.
His finest! IMHO Harri!👍
I have never loved a song so much in 56 years. No song written today can come close.
Rest in peace meatloaf!!!
Heaven Can Wait......incredible!!!
You are a wise man. Loved your comments about the song.
In the 70s this was known as opera Rock 😮😅🎉❤
My favourite song of his. He was an amazing artist. Both Meat Loaf and the very talented Jim Steinman gone now.
Husband & I had the pleasure of meeting and spending some time w Meat a few yrs back. Just a genuinely nice, no nonsense kinda guy. Treated no one as though he were above them. We were impressed, frankly. Not a bad guy to kick back w for a few!
I really can't understand how someone can want someone and need someone but not love them..it boggles my mind..
Hi Harri you need to listen to Bat out of Hell the greatest album ever made written by Jim Steinman a masterpiece, not one bad song on that album.
Steinman was a force of nature. He wrote some of the best hits of the '70s and '80s including songs for Bonnie Tyler, Air Supply, "Streets of Fire" (movie), musical plays, and Meatloaf.
RIP Meat Loaf. I am never saw you live but listened to you in college during the late 70s early 80s. Thanks for the review.
It's so bloody good.
Indeed!!!
You should hear the story of how Meatloaf got mixed up in the J F.K. assassination aftermath
Just heard that story for the first time. Wow.
An early concert for me, the summer of 1978 here in the Detroit area. What an incredible talent.
A true balladeer by every measure. Meatloaf didn’t sing a song that didn’t tell a story.
All the emotions for true life events in Someone' s life all wrapped up in a song.
30 plus years of all 3. I am blessed .
Harri if you haven't enjoyed his acting in Rocky Horror Picture Show you need to !! Cult classic musical of epic proportions
@Prone2Thrill I met Richard O'Brien Creator Writer of Rocky Horror Picture Show
Also in Fight Club.
I've seen it said that the girl is the same girl from the start of the song and the girl he once loved. That when they were together in the past she didn't love him but after some time she realized she actually did love him and went back to him but she had already broken his heart so he could never love her again.
That’s the message
Bat out of Hell still holds the record for the largest album sales in Australia, 45 years later....
the guy on the piano behind Meatloaf, Jim Steinman composed the songs for Meatloaf
He was in Hair on Broadway, and Eddy in the Rocky Horror Picyure Show plus other stage and film roles
"His name is Robert Paulson."
Rip Meatloaf
I'm crying all day.
😭😭😢😩😩😫
I purchased this album in 1979 and just recently gave it to one of the grandchildren. My favorite is 'Cryin' Out Loud'.
This song goes back so far in my life. It’s extremely sad, but has a few funny satirical lines as well. For the non-Americans, there’s a popcorn candy called Cracker Jack. The manufacturer always added a little toy at the bottom of the box. Meatloaf is expressing that she won’t ever find a luxury car in the candy box. She is not getting love from him.
Great reaction! This album is legendary, all the songs are great!
Marvin Day says he was just a actor. Meatloaf was just one of his characters.
Just a big, good-looking guy with so much talent back in the day. Had a sort of a Brando vibe about him to me. Amazing voice!
Even as a teen, I liked big guys like him.
R.I.P. MEATLOAF WE MISS YOU
Fantastic song.
One of my all-time favorites! Thank you!!! 😀
Your analysis of lyrics and appreciation for how music is put together is a talent! You are so right.."to sing and act" on a stage is the hardest thing !
The pianist for this video is Jim Steinman, composer for this and Bat Out Of Hell, andDashboard Light etc.
Love his voice n this I can hear on repeat over and ovet
Such a great song. Meatloaf is definitely one of a kind!!!
Sometimes two out of three is better than being lonely without anybody.
A nice birthday treat turn 60 today love meatloaf 💞
His background is musical theatre and he has always considered himself an actor first, singer second. He's been in a number of movies: Rocky Horror Picture Show, Fight Club, Wayne's World, Leap of Faith ( to name a few).
R.I.P. MEAT.✌️♥️🙏🙏🙏
Meatloaf was in lots of movies.
Thank you you gave justice to Meat and Jim, great combination.
She was telling him, “ I want you, I need you, but there ain’t no way I’m ever gonna love you, now don’t be sad because two out of three ain’t bad. People make that mistake all the time, she’s the one that doesn’t love him. He’s singing what she’s telling him. Listen to this song again, and again and again,
RIP meatloaf. You will be missed.
If we don't have the 3, we need to move on. Life's too short to settle. Try Love by the Dashboard Lights by Meatloaf.
"Paradise by the Dashboard Light", not 'love by the dashboard light'
You got right into it…automatic like and prescribed! Also your interpretation was SPOT ON! Loved this reaction!
