Bat out of Hell 2 is also fantastic! One great song after another. RIP, I have always loved you. One in a million. Thank you for gracing us with your presence.
Once a person actually sees/listens to a Meatloaf performance it makes it impossible to dismiss his talent. He pulls the listener into the situation he is singing
If you ever get the chance to go watch BOOH The Musical, go. The show adds a totally new dimension to the songs, just as Jimbo wanted when he wrote them.
Wow. They both passed. Meatloaf in one of his last videos that he up loaded, he was saying he was in tremendous pain with his back and spine. He said he had surgery scheduled the beginning on 2022. He said it was 3 different ones that were going to be done. And once he recovered he was planning on touring again. He stated because of his back problems that's why he lost all that weight. He wished us all well, and was looking forward to touring in the Summer or fall 2022. Within days of posting that video, he was gone. In my opinion I believe Meatloaf and the piano Guy, the man who wrote the whole Bat out of Hell Album will leave a mark on Our Music History.
Finally someone reacts to something by Meatloaf other than Paradise. Meatloaf is so much more than Paradise. One of the greatest singers and performer of all time. Love love love Meatloaf.
This album is a masterpiece but the two most Epic songs are the title track “Bat Out Of Hell” and “For Cryin’ Out Loud”. The intro and the outdo, the opener and closer. When I first listened to this album, no one was playing these songs on the radio, I only heard it because my brother brought it home.
The actual live video or the official video that largely looks live but is actually Meat Loaf and Karla (can't remember the last name) rehearsing with the album version dubbed over it?
@@RaduRadonysI always took it to mean. ..you have something there and you will find some good in,it but no matter how good it may feel it will never be the "real thing" .Some think he's so cold and unfeeling in this song but I always felt he's just trying to explain why he can never give all 3, he had one love that hurt him so bad many years ago and he's built a wall and won't ever let someone hurt him like that ever again...sad,but I know the feeling exactly and have pushed people away all my life.

meatloaf...no shame in shedding a tear...i was a child when i first heard his work, and even to today, 20+ years later, though smiles, tears can still peek out.
I've seen it said that the girl is the same girl from the start of the song and the girl he once loved. That when they were together in the past she didn't love him but after some time she realized she actually did love him and went back to him but she had already broken his heart so he could never love her again.
I went to see him perform live in 1985. A show I will never forget. Bombastic vocal performance, delivered in a very theatrical way. And the entire band was fantastic.
one of Meats most underrated songs is for crying out loud from this same album its one of the best love ballads ever written that is often overlooked, side note the man playing the piano is Jim Steinman who wrote many of meat loafs albums including this one
This song goes back so far in my life. It’s extremely sad, but has a few funny satirical lines as well. For the non-Americans, there’s a popcorn candy called Cracker Jack. The manufacturer always added a little toy at the bottom of the box. Meatloaf is expressing that she won’t ever find a luxury car in the candy box. She is not getting love from him.
You are the only one I have watched the reaction to this song that got it right off. So far most of the others miss that his heart is already given away. Sad hurt people hurt others.
Here's a true story about this cat....at 16 meat, and 2 friends were in his car in Dallas Texas where he's from...riding around heard on radio that president John F Kennedy had been shot they drove down where it all went down and they were commandeered by a CIA agent to catch a ride to parkland hospital for 20 bucks...went home meats mom thought it was a made up story and boom there the young men were in the background on the evening news....they broke the 20 each got a five and they held those bills all through life....true story told by meatloaf him self on the Huckabee news show....crazy how life goes
Yes already said in the comments this album bat out out of hell is the best album ever produced outstanding song writing by Jim steadman and meatloaf it will never be surpassed I still have the album from 1972
Ok I am 66 years old, I knew this song a long time ago but never understood it fully. Now I think I do. He cant love someone because he is still in love with his first love that first girl that will not love him!
Just come across this channel after listening to a bunch of Meatloaf songs. I don't often like reaction vids, but I really enjoyed watching you let the music wash over you - you were really listening... great reaction comments too. Cheers dude
Love me some Meatloaf. He was an extraordinary talent. I watched his Big interview, with Dan Rather. I have to say that based on that, he was a great person too. Thanks to the digital age, although we have lost Mr. Marvin Lee Aday, his music lives on and its a great legacy. Thanks for covering this Harri. You’re the BEST. Lol
Harri, the genre POWER BALLAD perfectly sums up this number, fantastic vocals from the man himself, and the much missed composer on piano Jim Steinmann , this is one of the best albums of all time.
Thank you for doing this, loved watching your face react to this song. Our beloved Meat Loaf passed away on January 20th, 2022, I can't stop his songs playing in my head. RIP beautiful man.
theres only one girl that I have ever loved and that was so many years ago. and tho I know I'll never get her out of my heart....I have been with many girls but there was one. I think of her every time I hear this song over the years
A very underrated talent. He gave one of the best performances of the National Anthem before a baseball game. Don't remember the year. A lot of his videos are like mini operas.
One of the greatest debut albums of all time. Paradise By The Dashboard, with the live video, is a must see and hear; so cheeky and risque but mostly great theatre.
This album was my very 1st album i bought when I was in my early teens. Walked down to Woolworth to buy it with my grass cutting money. Lol. Although I didn't understand the meaning of the words in his songs at the time I bought the album then, just liked the music. At 56 and going through life's ups and downs. The lyrics to his songs have meaning and today I hear his music in a different light and sometimes they will bring up certain moments and a tear of happiness and sadness comes over me. In my opinion this album is one of the greatest in my history of music. Meatloaf is a true artist that seemed to put full emotion in his art.
In a 2003 interview for VH1 Ultimate Albums series, Jim Steinman (1947-2021, RIP) said he was complaining to friend Mimi Kennedy that he couldn’t get a deal. She suggested his songs were too complicated. Just then, Elvis' I Want You, I Need You, I Love You came on the radio & she said, "Why don't you write something simple like that." Steinman went home & “tried so hard” to write a simple song & “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad” was the result. He said, “still a twist, but it was my closest to a simple song & one Elvis could have done."
His album Bat Out of Hell is one of the all-time greats. Each song better than the next.
45 million copies!
Bat out of Hell 2 is also fantastic! One great song after another. RIP, I have always loved you. One in a million. Thank you for gracing us with your presence.
@@PowderBlueML Yeah really. Wonder where all the record execs who turned it down are working now
6th best selling album of all time.
One of the best!

He was an absolute force of nature

The piano player in the background wrote the whole album.Jim Steinmsn… just passed.
A great loss
I hadn't heard that. Definitely sorry to hear. RIP, Jim Steinman. You've left a legacy in just this album that will never be forgotten.
Meatloaf just passed today 1/21/22 where the composer goes the singer must follow.
Wow. They both passed. Meatloaf in one of his last videos that he up loaded, he was saying he was in tremendous pain with his back and spine. He said he had surgery scheduled the beginning on 2022. The song is obviously sad and emotional, but when that third thing drops, it is just heart wrenching.
Meatloaf's "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights" is epic - you would really like it I think - but try to get the live video!
That one is AMAZING!!!!
It should be next! Harri will love it!!!
Definitely live video!
The whole thing is quite a performance!
The actual live video or the official video that largely looks live but is actually Meat Loaf and Karla (can't remember the last name) rehearsing with the album version dubbed over it?
“But there ain’t no Coup de Ville hiding at the bottom of a crackerjack box”…..this line still gets me after all these years….
For the kids in the audience, Cracker Jacks are candied popcorn & peanuts, which come in a box with small toy at the bottom.
Those are great lyrics but, my favorite lyrics of this song “but you’ve been cold to me so long I’m crying icicles instead of tears”
Just a touch of humor in a serious sad song. That's meatloaf
That's unfortunately an American centric quote, I have no idea what those words mean.

“ Bat out of Hell “ is like an opera! The album is just stunning, and it has really aged well!

Paradise by the Dashboard light should be soon. Thanks Harri
This is a must!!!
This song is the epitome of the adage "Hurt People hurt people."
He's hurting the first girl that hurt him...
The honesty doesn't diminish the tragedy... it's one of those songs I heard as a kid, but took a couple decades of romances to grab hold.
I love this comment. Honesty doesn't diminish the tragedy.
RIP Meatloaf

That when they were together in the past she didn't love him but after some time she realized she actually did love him and went back to him but she had already broken his heart so he could never love her again.
That’s the message
He is actually talking to the woman from yrs earlier but roles are reversed
It was done to him first as it turned out. He continued a sad circle.
My favourite song of his. He was an amazing artist. Both Meat Loaf and the very talented Jim Steinman gone now.
I went to see him perform live in 1985. A show I will never forget. Bombastic vocal performance, delivered in a very theatrical way. And the entire band was fantastic.
Saw him in 2003 I think it might've been possibly just MAYBE'VE BEEN AT THE TAJ MAHAL IN A.C.
R.I.P. Meatloaf, we lost a great.

@@paulcooper3410 i am inclined to agree
He was in the movie Rocky Horror Picture Show. His concerts were theater and music. Incredible talent. Jim Steinman is a legend.
Oh I loved your face when he first sings “2 out of 3 ain’t bad”! What a song. Pure Meatloaf. It is what it is!
RIP Meat Loaf 😢 What a voice.
In the 70s this was known as opera Rock 😮😅🎉❤
Jim Steinmann, lyrics. Wow
The whole Bat Out of Hell album is a stone-cold classic.
he made 65 movies, so he was a very successful actor

RIP Meat Loaf, you were so entertaining.
RIP Meatloaf! You will be greatly missed!
Harry, "Once it's happened to you, it's easier to dish it out to someone else." Brilliant statement and, unfortunately, no truer words spoken.

An early concert for me, the summer of 1978 here in the Detroit area. What an incredible talent.
I love this song so much, its beautiful , the lyrics are beautiful and his voice shows the emotion this kind of song has to have
" for crying out loud " is so epic and the sentiment is the opposite to this song.
A great song! As indeed are pretty much all of his songs written by Steinman.

Meatloaf. Wow.

For crying out loud is a beautiful song.
I have never loved a song so much in 56 years. No song written today can come close.
This seems to be a follow-up to Paradise By the Dashboard Light.
My mother has always loved this song.
She did it to him first then changed her mind and came back but it was too late!!

It is a play or Opera! Meatloaf was playing a part!
I've always liked this song. Clever lyrics. Good job, Harri!
Many of his songs contain an element of ‘tongue in cheek’ humour… Great album! 👍
And to think this guy was involved in a roundabout way in the Kennedy assassination.

Thank you you gave justice to Meat and Jim, great combination.
Its the same girl, who left him broke his heart that he's telling her the same truths
Disagree. It's obvious he's talking about two different women. You're over-thinking the lyrics, and hearing something that just isn't there.
One of the greatest debut albums of all time. Paradise By The Dashboard, with the live video, is a must see and hear; so cheeky and risque but mostly great theatre.
