It actually spells 'Dazzeland'. The props that hung from the ceiling over the roller coaster are now currently residing at a place called DeYoung's Salvage on Baden Terrace in O'Sullivan Beach. You should check out the videos of the lifts that I filmed too (just before refurbishment).
Finally some more footage of the rides and a bit from the lifts back in those days, they kept that look and those chimes until the 2013 upgrade, I saw RS 1990's videos from before the lift refurbishment taken in December 2013 after the upgrade was finished and the lifts that go down to Carpark 2 were refurbished but before the ones that go down to Carpark 4 were, there also used to be an elevator filmer called austelevators, check out his channel, he filmed the lifts there before the upgrade, I wish they had kept level 4 open, now that has no entrance to the store and level 5 is now closed off completely even in the store so it's now impossible to get up to those levels in the center, but some people have found a way to glitch the lifts to get up there, I saw a video from last year up on level 5
Thankyou for posting this - how awesome!! I showed my 17 yr old son and he couldn't believe that used to be at the top level of the Myer Centre. He was amazed! I barely remember it now so it was cool to be reminded!
Thank you for sharing this. Brought back so many wonderful memories. I use to take my beautiful daughter here often for weekend fun. 😊💕 so loved our time together.
The video does show Dazzeland’s shortcomings. The rides were aimed at young children. I remember even at aged 11-12 (funnily enough when this would’ve been shot), the only rides suitable for me were Jazz Junction and the dodgem cars (and maybe the train if I wanted some variety). Everything else was really suited for kids 8 and under. The arcade stuff was ok, but then there were a plethora of Timezones covering that in the suburbs anyway.
Interesting to see it from someone who came to Adelaide in 2008. The Myer centre seems to be exactly as it was then so in like 22 years it has barely changed except losing these amazing arcade games
omg. I remember this vividly, I was only like 7 or 8, I loved it (I really do wonder how much money I made my parents waste on all those ticket/token machines lol). One of my fondest childhood memories, love it!
I wish i could go up to level 5 now to see what's there. Ideally i would like something you'd see in a Dan Bell video but probably just get storage junk.
My Dad was a Mall Cop at The Myer Centre back in 1995. He got a family pass off one of the DazzleLand clowns for me to spend the day at DazzleLand. Great memories. DazzleLand reined supreme in Adelaide... until someone decided to jump out of Jazz Junction (the roller coaster) while it was in motion. That happened in 1995 as well. She was the first of I think there were 3 successful suicides there. 😥😣 Still don’t understand how that “Chris” managed to jump off one of the escalators to his death that Friday Night when my Dad called home like 3 minutes before he was due to clock off work about it. He was meant to finish at 9:30pm because the Adelaide CBD had (and still has) late night shopping on Friday Nights. I think he got home at close to midnight.
My friends partner was one of the suicides there a few years ago. Now everytime I see these kind of videos of the interior it triggers those memories. :(
These are Polish people that filmed the video. What else is on the tape of Rundle Mall? I would be interested to see what else there and see if I can identify who the Polish people are, being part of the Polish Community in Adelaide.
supercoach24 there is a bit more on Adelaide, some stuff of the Barossa, and quiet a bit of Glenelg. They will be uploaded eventually, these just take a long time to do.
It should never have been built. It was a silly attempt to modernise our CBD and it cost the state millions in bankruptcy. The most glaring problem was that the building it replaced, a 19th century Victorian Myer department store, was 10x more beautiful than this green/yellow high-rise contemporary, which now is basically a ghost mall.
@@bigtux11 The Myer facade should have been saved, but learn how the monetary system operates. There is no shortage of money, it's simply typed into a computer as credit. It this the debt caused by this credit that sinks businesses & Adelaide CBD is a special case. The entire money supply is interest bearing bank credit.
That moment when all your favorite childhood memories come flooding back... Thankyou for uploading this.
Oh really not magic Mountain

The sound of the roller coaster still gives me the chills...

I remember these days! Today the top levels of Myer are haunted and ghostly.
Haunted by the jumpers
True story I heard the sounds of the roller coaster and people screaming a few months legend has it that you can only hear it when it’s is not busy
Thankyou for preserving this for future historians
Haha, how's that guy at 3:21 hopping on the kids ride! What fantastic footage overall - this is a blessing.

The rollercoaster closed just before my time but I remember that greenish tint for the lifts.
Thank you for posting this, I've been searching for footage like this for a long time.

It changed now
Thanks for the video. Great memories as a child going there!
Awesome escalator shot @ 1:47
I still get nam flash backs hearing those sounds 😢

I miss those days of dazzleland.
Top levels were an absolute ghost town by this stage..

3:25 what is name this machine ?
I've never seen this part of Myer before.
It doesn't look like a billion 1991 dollars was spent in building that thing. Hmmm. Thanks for the video!
I think it was a billion spent on the entire myer centre
The centre was 570 million dollars and roller coaster was only 20 million dollars
Ahhh my childhood
Ferneries in Myer!?

It’s not Polish (as I’m Polish I’d know) but it definitely is another Slavic language, possibly Yugoslavian?
It's Croatian, I can understand them.
And I thought my MYER via melbourne via bourke street was top stuff, then I see this?! Of course all of this is all gone now....sigh
LEVEL 5 - 'Dazzeland Entertainment Centre'!!!!!
Thanks a lot... RUclipsr from Mile End... 😊
Typical Adelaide, get something world class and it gets sold off a few years later. The rollercoaster and F1 was stolen from us!
the place is a dump now
