- I'm checking out AKAI's new MPC expansion called "Neo Sunset". Which fills the void of the late 90s hip hop/boombap sound (ex. J.Dilla's hip hop neo soul style). So, let's make a beat & explore some of the sounds! Let me know what you think?

So glad I stumbled into this channel! This will crack you youngsters up, but I'm an old lady who fairly recently dived into almost total immersion mode, in an attempt to get her groove back after a LONG vaca, lol! I'm also in a pretty big hurry to make some big musical leaps :-) Not only did I love seeing & hearing some great playing of an MPC machine, but damn, the beats are what I'm always struggling to find, what I hear in my head & want to sing and play keyboards over! Even my fave tempo! I don't have the time or patience to master a pro-sounding, or high level of drum creation from scratch -- I'm in a hurry to get to that singing, writing & playing part!
BUT --- I do still have fond memories of working with my 1st (& only) drum machine, the Yamaha RX11, bought in 1984 (yeah, I'm really old!) (It even had modernish pads! Just not velocity sensitive, lol!) I was mostly playing jazz & blues keys then (some groups for a few years), desperately wanted some drum backing, & discovered I wasn't half bad at building jazzy patterns :-) So while I await my new main board/synth (2 month wait!), I think a cool machine like this - with this KILLER EXPANSION! will greatly help me cut straight to creating - and ENJOYING creating - some music! Thank you SO much!

@@AveMcree Thank you for the comment today! I was gonna tease you about putting a large-ish hole in my bank account with my buying the MPC Live II, which was of course ALL your fault, lol! I had not even been looking for such a device, indeed did not even know they existed... but all it took was this one vid I just bumped into 3 weeks ago, and 2 weeks ago the magic gold box arrived. Got Neo Sunset on the SSD I popped in there - and having a blast! I learn so much from all your vids - not only do you have a lot of knowledge, you are also a very gifted teacher. After decades of mostly solo playing, you have given me a backup band! Thank you so much!
P.S. Recently I was stunned to learn the MPC is also a powerful LINEAR sequencer that will record up to 999 measures - without using a PC or even my iPad! Darrick Keels has a great vid on using it that way...

Dope…. Getting back in the game and always had MPC’s just brought the MPC X totally different from the MPC 60 & 3000… Question, do you have a video on crest wing a song w a program verses tracks. I was use to tracking out my beats to better control my mix

Why are my expansions not in the expansion section of my mpc one? They are on my sound card in the places section how do I add them to expansion section with the photo of the expansion...thank to whoever can help me with this I'd be very less frustrated.
Hey I was wondering how did you bypass the pause in between the instruments when trying to finger drum 🥁 ?? Like every time I try finger drumming, some of the instruments will pause in between when trying to use all of the instruments on all 16 pads. When I hit a pad with a kick on it, and a snare at the same time, one will blank out the other while drumming.

These expansions are just sample packs allways, right?
They have a collection of sounds like loops, one shots, drum programs, key groups, etc

No disrespect to whom ever made Neo Sunset...buying sound expansion packs is another form of digging in the crates...Masada Cycle Kit Vol 5 parts 1, 2 and 3, ..Marco Polo Pad Thai 1&2 stepped it up, separated themselves from every other sound expansion packs that are on the market today. If you own a MPC X like I do...you can flip a sound into something totally different... I have sounds from various different manufactures...What I am now looking for are whats different with in those sound expansion packs...

These sound dope but I never got why I would pay 40$ for a sampler kit when I can just do it myself and get more unique sounds that fit my workflow better. I guess I get it if you're not the type of person that likes pouring over records for drum samples, but isn't that the whole point of the MPC?

Well, do those yourself. It’s saves time and effort. Most importantly, the drum designers are dope at what they do.
I agree Matthew...I agree. One of the reasons why I went with a Novation Lunchpad Pro and use my main DAW instead. I find MPC and Maschine useless but I do like MPC sampling UI and technicality though. Something I quite miss in Logic but I won't be surprise if there is some type of an "MPC Sampling" update in Logic in the near future.
Some people don't want to sound design they just want to create & most kits are royalty free so you don't have to worry about clearing samples. An MPC is just a computer that operates under certain parameters, there's a million & one ways to use it there's no rules to this.
