Hi Leslie, it was great to knit with you this morning as you shared your lovely sweaters. I wanted to share a neat experience I had recently. The other day I was weaving in the ends of some very old projects (dish cloths) that had been stored away for a while. When I was finished, I had the urge to look for some more cotton yarn in my stash. I had a large bag of various yarn that I recently brought back from my parents’ house in Greensburg PA, after we were closing up their home. In the bag I found some cotton yarn and acrylic worsted. I even found a dishcloth that my mom had started knitting years ago - she didn’t really like to knit, so I was really excited to find that. I plan on having my granddaughter (6) knit a little on it and then I will finish it. My mom loved her grandkids and great grandkids. She called my daughter, Laura, her “little butterfly”. So, I started making your Best Friend Butterfly blanket out of the acrylic yarn that my mom had collected. This whole situation made me smile and feel connected to my mom in a deeper way. Thank you for sharing your life, your knitting, and your patterns.
I was in Portugal recently and found RosaPomar yarn shop in Lisbon. They also sell fabric and the shop is very nice. Cintra is a short train ride from Lisbon and a great place to visit. The monuments closed for fire precautions the day we were there but hopefully they will be open again when you are there. Enjoy your trips.
I also recently visited Lissabon, Rosapomar is a lovely shop. And in Madrid I would recommend the shop of miss Kits. And the trip to Toledo, is worth visiting. Enjoy
Thank you so much for this information Katrina! I have just put it in the notes in my phone! We will be in Lisbon so fingers crossed everything will be open. Happy knitting, friend! xx
I so love watching your podcasts. You always inspire me and I watched this video while knitting on my Butterfly blanket. I'm using Organic "By Amalie", it's a 100% NSW merino in an Aran weight and it's naturally dyed with eucalyptus plants and I love the pattern and this yarn is perfect for the blanket. Thank you again for your enthusiasm and style. Please do more videos!
Hi Laurie! You are the sweetest! Thank you so much for watching! And swoon! Your butterfly blanket must feel so lovely! Hopefully you have added it to ravelry as I can check it out there! And thank you for your kind kind words! I so appreciate them! 🧡
Thank you for your stripes explanation! Your sweater is so softly striped . . . . I love it. I also love that you are direct, to the point and don't blather on forever 😘
Stunning Stripes..both of them..lovely!! I lived in York, PA in the early 1970's and have family living there still.. Enjoying your podcast and Instagram.. I love knitting stripe socks, need to get a sweater on my needles, thank you for the inspiration 💖
@@LeslieFriend Oh Leslie I wish I still lived in PA. I live in sunny San Diego, Ca now, come this way and we can sit and knit and I’ll take you to some fabulous yarn shops 🧶🧡
Hi Leslie, I’m also a knitting podcaster, living just outside of Barcelona. In Madrid there is a lovely yarn shop called La Oveja Lola. They have a great website as well. In Portugal, we loved Porto even more than Lisbon. Also the Algarve region is absolutely stunning. Enjoy planning your trips!
Hi! Thank you so much for this information! I will be sure to make it to La Ovelja Lola! Putting it in my notes as soon as I finish this comment! And great to hear about Portugal... We will be in Porto, Algarve, Douro Valley and Lisbon. So excited! Wish you were closer so we could knit! ☺️ Happy Making, friend! xx
@@LeslieFriend that sounds like the perfect itinerary. You know, the fibre festival Barcelona Knits is in November. An excuse to visit your daughter? Just 2.5 hours by high speed train.
We’re going to Barcelona and Madrid in the next few weeks thanks for the info. Any shops in Barcelona? How is the weather right now? It still looks like it’s so hot :( Hope you’re keeping cool!!!
@@suzieqknitz3118 yes, very hot! Miss Kits, All You Knit is Love and Lalanalu are the three main yarn shops. Lots of other smaller ones, but those three are the best.
@@Lisamakes thank you so much! We are debating to just go to Barcelona and maybe go to Portugal instead of Madrid. We are in France and Spain for 3 weeks :)
Hi Leslie. I spent 6 days in Madrid about 4 years ago and loved the city. Even more than Barcelona! Stayed just off Puerta de Sol. It is such a vibrant city. Perfect for someone of your daughter's age. We found a very cool shopping street (one of many) with interesting boutiques, cafes and someone drying hand dyed yarn on chairs outside her shop. Our daughter took us to several far away places too as she worked her way through university. Always hard to leave her but I was so thankful for the opportunities she had and where she has ended up today because of it all.
Oh Elaine! Such sweet news! I have been to Barcelona but never Madrid so that made me very happy to hear! It sounds like I may never want to leave or may not want to ever leave her!😍 So glad your daughter had a wonderful experience. I'll be praying the same for Libby. 🙏❤️
Leslie, always so nice to catch up with you and what you're making! Your pastel striped sweater looks so beautiful on you and I'm glad you throw a little realism in there about having to rip out a sweater that you spent a lot of time working on. I don't feel so bad now about all my knitting mistakes.
Ha. Thank you friend! It's so true... it's hard to rip out (so hard sometimes) but we know it's what need to be done! Thank you for your sweet words. Happy knitting! xx
Leslie, hurry up and find a Rhinebeck sweater so we can jump on the bandwagon with you lol! My first trip to Rhinebeck this year...I can't even stand being with myself I'm so ridiculously excited ha!
Hi Leslie I was knitting dishclothmats..then I was knitting corner to corner shawl blanket... all my family got covid so I just knitting myself dishcloth blanket. It taking Time with having covid..love from England 🇬🇧
Enjoyed today. Thank you. Safe travels it all sounds wonderful. We were so excited to visit Lake Como in June. We arose early to get to NY, then to Milan. Our flights were cancelled… we were reassigned to another flight the next day. But we ultimately cancelled when our First Class seats were reassigned as well … to Coach. We then had to call airlines…. 9 hour wait with return calls only. We just knew if we were in Italy if this happened we had so little confidence in the airlines to help that it was not worth the hassle. Integrity of the airlines has me worried. But I am hoping that maybe next year this will get better and we can do some planning. I do love to knit in-flight for sure! Have fun!
Oh shoot Cindy! What a bummer! It seemed that the summer travel was such a headache. I hope you get to reschedule soon!!! Happy knitting on the ground! 😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️
I just stumbled upon your channel and I instantly subscribed after watching. Enjoyed this very much! So happy I found you. Greetings from Massachusetts.💖💕
Loving your stripey sweaters, but I must say, the pastel one is my fave, looks just gorgeous!! Another enjoyable podcast. Looks like your wrist injury is well and truly healed and you're not having any issues knitting for long periods. That's wonderful! I have a huge list of winter/Rhinebeck sweaters that I'm mulling over, mostly with colorwork yokes. Top of my list to knit imminently in speckled yarns, though, are Salty Air Tee by Samantha Guerin and the Clara Cardigan (fisherman's rib) by Paula Strickt, which Jackie of cadyjax made recently. I am using Jackie's yarn choice from Chelsea Luxe Yarns as well. Cheers and hugs from Texas. Barbara 🥰
Hi Barbara! Great great suggestions! Thank you! 💜 And yes... thank you for the well wishes regarding my wrist! A little stiff in the morning but it loosens up as soon as I grab my coffee and start knitting! 😍
Hi Leslie! I really like the belted cardigan with shawl collar by Brooklyn Tweed. It’s called Channel Cardigan. I don’t have the skills for it, but you do! Thank you for sharing your beautiful striped sweaters. I love both of them. 🧡
Thank you SO much Heidi! Adding that to my queue! Its soooo cute and so wearable! You actually DO have the skills for it! One row at a time friend, one row at a time! xx
Hi Leslie, It is always so nice to watch your podcasts. You are so inspiring and calm. Your pastel sweater is so pretty! I just bought some of the Buttercup cotton to make a second Dingley Dell. And I snuck in 2 skiens of Linen Quill as I have never tried it. I'm thinking I need to go back and get some more so I can cast on a Daily Pullover. Until next time!
Hi Danielle! You are so sweet. Thank you! 💜 Ohhhh! A dingley Dell will be perfect out of the Buttercup Cotton! I love working with that yarn! And YES! A daily Pullover will be your new favorite! xx
Hi Leslie - great job on your pastel stripe sweater - so pretty! Safe travels to Spain - would love to see some scenary pictures and some yarn stores there too if time permits. You may find some great yarn acquisitions too 😉. Take care, Kris K from Connecticut 🧶🌻🌞
Love your summer stripe sweater it's beautiful and really suits you, almost finished my first butterfly blanket whilst watching such a lovely pattern thankyou 💕
Love your striped sweater . I just finished a similar sweater and did matching socks with the remaining yarn . After watching this episode I want to cast on a new striped sweater 😍😍
Thank you for sharing your beautiful striped sweater. I used my birthday money to purchase several skeins of Purl Soho Butttercup...it was still on sale!
I’ve been knitting this sweater and the pattern is extremely well written and easy to follow. I love how the neckline fits and feels. I ordered the yarn from skein cocaine and it’s dreamy. My stripes on the sleeves are only eight rows deep….not sure why but it still works. I’m going to start another one right away using fingering weight I already have in my stash. So glad you did a vlog about it! Love from Calgary.
You’re finished stripe sweater is so cute!! My hat is off to you that you make fingering weight sweaters💜 i’m obsessed right now with the idea of making the Wednesday sweater by Petite Knit in LQ Worsted Kettle Black held with Tussock Gray Quartz.🖤 Not the best suggestion for a Rhinebeck sweater but that’s what’s on my mind right now😊
@@LeslieFriend Pittsburgh was where I grew up, but I do have a small place there for when I visit family. I find myself going to Yarns Unlimited since it's near Beaver Bagels and my college roommate who lives in Beaver. I'll have to try Yarns by Design next trip!
Love your pastel striped sweater! I am excited to knit my first ever sweater which is your pattern one lovely sweater purchased the kit using the same yarn. Fingers crossed and I will have it done for the cold weather.
I am inspired to knit your Simple Stripe sweater. I only knit one sweater each year, as I sew full-time and am limited in terms of the amount of knitting I can commit to. Great sweater
Oooooh! I can definitely see where you would have to choose wisely with sooooo many sweaters out there! SO many choices so little time! Happy making friend! xx
I love your striped sweaters, both versions. I believe you referenced Andrea Mowry's Stripes sweater as using worsted wt but it uses sport weight and has a circular yoke as opposed to a raglan. Thanks for the tip on the sale yarn from Purl Soho.
Hi Brenda! Thank you! And thank you for clarifying! I knew there was a reason I made the Simple Stripes! ☺️ I do love both yokes but find the raglan easier to fit! Happy knitting sweet friend! xx
Lovely as always Leslie. Your never ending story, ugh! Love the new colour, could you continue the lighter one and just overdye in black? It might hide the tension and save you knitting black, that's me looking for shortcuts! I could never "time out" something, it would haunt me and taunt me and anxiety would get me so I fix/frog/discard straight away. 2 days no power, oh boy! Thanks for the fun episode.
Hi Karen! Oooooooh! I have thrown many a projects aross the room to time out! HA! I just love that you have to rip straight away! That is probably a better way to be so the yarn doesn't sit and become a wavy mess by the time I unravel! Hope you are enjoying your cooler days! Hugs! 💜
@@LeslieFriend Hi Leslie, it’s been 71-75*F the last few days so our winter weather is confused (I say Mother Nature has menopause) but the mornings are crisp and we’ll have coolness again but the days are usually about 65 so it’s lovely where we live. Enjoy summer and Spain is not far away 💃🥰 Karen 😘
Depends for Rhinebeck if you want a colorwork pattern - Alpenglow (new by Andrea Mowry). A couple ideas that I think you might like for a fall sweater could be basically anything by Isabel Kraemer :) but some specific patterns by her: Ravello (stripes), Sabela (stripes), dingley dell (stripes)- short sleeve by you can do long), Yume (can be long or short sleeves). Also, Suviknits has the DK version of the Simple Stripes sweater. Another one is the City Limits sweater by Tanis Lavallee - this is cute and it’s a raglan that was made using a fade.Good luck!! I posted my “Sabela” to your Ravelry group ;)
Hello!! If you go to Lisbon check out Retrosaria Rosa Pomar!! Very nice yarn! And If you go to the south you have Retrosaria Serafina located in Loulé!! Have a nice trip
Hi again, I think La Oveja Lola is far from the city centre, but in Atocha st you can find MissKits, it's not so lovely but they have a good selection of yarns
Hi Leslie. OMGoodness, I love how your pastel striped sweater turned out!! I’m so tempted to make one just like yours, lol. I’m currently working on my first fall design for this year and hope to have it released before September. I’ll post pics in the group. It’s called the Classic Candy Corn and will be a Knit Picks spotlight pattern for Halloween. 🎃 Thanks for another fun episode. I’m always so excited when I get a notification for your channel. HUGS
No way!!!you coming to Portugal???? That's so cool!!! You have to go to Retrosaria in Rua Maria Andrade, in Lisbon...that's our most international Yarn store ...and it has lots of great portuguese wool. It has "fiadouros" on fridays...meetings to knit and make friends from all over the world... I wish we could meet...who knows? I will pay attention to your videos and posts...lots of love from Lisbon!!!🥰
Almost forgot...if you go to Porto, you must go to "Ovelha Negra". It also has great portuguese wool. There are more ... I think...I am going to investigate...
Oooooooooh Paula! THANK YOU! And how fun if we could meet up! We have a couple of nights at the very end of our trip in Lisbon. 🧡 Putting all of this in the notes on my phone. You are the best! xx
Your stripes pull overs are so lovely! For the fall, I’m hoping to knit something plush, gray, and either cabled or highly textured. I want something that can be thrown on over jeans and a tee for a quick run to the store or coffee, or can be worn over leggings and a tank for lounging at home. All purpose snuggles! I am leaning towards either the Ginny by Andrea Mowry or the Porter by Megan Babbin.
I’m normally drawn to jewel colors, but I am loving your summery pastel top in the shorter form ! 😊 looks perfect ! It seems like you knit so fast ! It takes me so long .. how long have you’ve been knitting Leslie ? Do you ever show how you knit the sleeves? I’m curious how it’s done . I am not seeing any seams .
Thank you Heather! My mom taught me to knit when I was in college and am I ever grateful! The sleeves are knit in the round. No seaming necessary. :) xx
Hi Leslie, thank you for your project shares. Your Simple Stripe sweater is gorgeous. I couldn’t find the yarn description - what type of yarn is Luxe Fingering base?
Hi Claudia! I was thinking it was a merino but to tell you the truth I'm not exactly sure! I checked the site and it doesn't say but I will defiantly get the answer from Gina! The drape is amazing! xx
Love your Simple Stripe sweater the pastel colors are gorgeous. Did you do any type of fading for your stripes or just knit the number of rows with each skein ? Have a great week.
Hi Sharon! SO sorry for the late reply! I did not fade at all. 13 rows for the body per stripe. And 10 or 11 for the sleeves. They did just meld together nicely.... I knit in the order Gina photographed. Happy knitting, friend! xx
Love the Be Thankful Cardigan by Lily Kate France. Leslie's Dresden blue one with the big white heirloom buttons is beautiful. I also like the Reluctant Homeschooler Cardigan (not by LKF) for a cozy warm homebody look. The pattern page on Ravelry shows it in tonal yarns, but I think it looks best in a solid color, like the Be Thankful Cardigan does.
I love the pastel stripes… totally up my ally! I have to stop watching because I have an overflowing stash, yikes! Love your podcasts! OMG! Your Never Ending sweater issue just made me realize that was the problem with my Weekender light from Andrea Mowry. Now I am so upset that I am going to have to rip back… grrr
hahahah Your comment made me giggle, Lisa. The ever growing stash and ripping.... us knitters definitely need more hours in a day! 🙏💜 Happy Knitting, friend! xx
@@LeslieFriend Oh boy! I found so many mini skeins that will be perfect and can’t wait to start the stripes sweater! BUT, I ripped back the Weekender light and it looked so amazing, until I turned it to the right side… I realized that I have small ladders next to the faux seems🤦🏻♀️ I think I am going to have to do what you did with one of your sweaters… put it aside and start something else. As relaxing as I find knitting, it can also be frustrating when it doesn’t go the right way
I am now going to start my Simple Stripes sweater with Skein Cocaines pastel mini set. How many rows did you make each stripe on the body and still have enough left for arm stripes? I hope mine looks as nice as yours.
Hi Brenda! Yes! It is a folded hem. I should have touched more on that. It is how the pattern is written and was not a modification by me. It definitely adds so much to the sweater. Just that extra bit of weight is so lovely! xx
Well Julie, I am so impressed you watched the video and don't knit! ☺️ Thankyou for making it through. 😂 The leather bag is truly awesome and it is from a shop called Urbana in Oakmont Pa. I have her trying to get more but if you could contact her too maybe that would help! Cheers! 💜
I like your sweaters so much that I've purchased the pattern. I see that the pattern calls for 5 colors. Did you say that you used minis and did 15 stripes? Is that correct? Were the minis each 20 grams? I'd love to make a sweater out of the minis that I've been accumulating. Love the podcast. I'll be going back and catching up as I knit. Thanks. Joanne
Hi Joanne! SO sorry for the late reply! Yes! I used mini's and in my first sweater (the bright one I used all 15 colors!) in my pastel version I knit 12 stripes and the 13 color was used in the folded hem. It would be a great stash buster to used some of that yarn you have! Happy knitting! 💜💜💜

Everything is so lovely. I love your cozy friendly podcast! I have added the stripes sweater to my queue!
Awe. Thank you sweet friend! Happy knitting! xx
Thank you for sharing your beautiful striped sweater. I used my birthday money to purchase several skeins of Purl Soho Butttercup...it was still on sale!
Yay! I love the Buttercup yarn! Happy Knitting and Happy Birthday Brigitte! xx
Yay Barbara! I am so glad we are twins and that you are loving the pattern. I do too! SO well written! Happy knitting, friend! xx
Love your stripe sweater Leslie, it's beautiful.
Thank you sweet Shirley! It sure was a fun sweater to make! 😍
You’re finished stripe sweater is so cute!! My hat is off to you that you make fingering weight sweaters💜 i’m obsessed right now with the idea of making the Wednesday sweater by Petite Knit in LQ Worsted Kettle Black held with Tussock Gray Quartz.🖤 Not the best suggestion for a Rhinebeck sweater but that’s what’s on my mind right now😊
oh Rebecca I do adore that sweater! It is very wearable which I tend to gravitate towards! Thank you! Happy Knitting friend!
Hi Leslie! What fun to find someone from my hometown of Pittsburgh.
Hi Janet! Love our city! Do you shop at Yarns By Design?
@@LeslieFriend Pittsburgh was where I grew up, but I do have a small place there for when I visit family. I find myself going to Yarns Unlimited since it's near Beaver Bagels and my college roommate who lives in Beaver. I'll have to try Yarns by Design next trip!
Beautiful sweaters! I love stripes and I love this pattern. I'm going to make it!
Yippeeeee!! 👯♀️💓
Love your pastel striped sweater! I am excited to knit my first ever sweater which is your pattern one lovely sweater purchased the kit using the same yarn. Fingers crossed and I will have it done for the cold weather.
Oh Patty! That is so so exciting! Please reach out if you need any assistance! xx👯♀️
Happy making friend! xx
love your sweaters! thanks for sharing.
Thank you Gina! Happy Knitting!
I need to start something with stripes! Your sweaters are beautiful.
Yes, Yes, Yes Dorothy! 😍💜
Happy knitting sweet friend! xx
Leslie, I've loved making the Stratified sweater by Tif Neilan. It fits great and it's striped!
Thank you Rona! Will look this one up! 💜💜💜💜
Added to my queue! LOVE!!!
I LOVE Madrid. Il Gatto Negro in Plaza Mayor near city centre is packed yarn store. Juana la Loca on porto de Moros has the best Tapas ever!!
Esther! Thank you so much for the recs! I put both in my notes on my phone and hope to get to both in September! Thank you!!! xx
I may need to do the Simple Stripes sweater with my Kestrel Mini Set💕.
yesssssssssssssss! Happy knitting friend!
I love stripes too!!!
YAY! ☺️😍
Thank you sweet friend for great recommendations!!! I know some but am excited to look the others up! Happy knitting Suzie! ❤️
Hello!! If you go to Lisbon check out Retrosaria Rosa Pomar!! Very nice yarn! And If you go to the south you have Retrosaria Serafina located in Loulé!! Have a nice trip
Thank you Alexanra! I put them both in my notes and will be sure to let you know if i get there! 😍
love this
Hi again, I think La Oveja Lola is far from the city centre, but in Atocha st you can find MissKits, it's not so lovely but they have a good selection of yarns
Thank you SO much Maruja! I have updated my notes. 😊😍🧡
HUGS
Christie! I’m so excited to see your new pattern! I’m sure it will be lovely as always. 💫💫💫
You are the best! xx
Beautiful sweater 😊
Thank you! 😊
Thank you so much Tasha! The idea of a sweater that serves both purposes sounds lovely! I will check them both out. Happy Knitting, friend! xx
You have to visit La Oveja Lola in Madrid! It’s such a nice shop. I love it. Any ideas of a stripe cardigan? 😘
Thanks again Maruja! Hmmmmm. Let me think about a striped cardigan! But off the top of my mind is the DAA Cardigan by Isabell Kraemer! SO cute! ❤️
Happy knitting, friend! xx
Hi Leslie, You should check out the pullover sweater called "My Time Sweater", by Lily Kate France. The sleeves are lovely.
Thank you Letishe! I will! I love everything Lily Kate designs! 💜
Love the sweater you are wearing. Do you think it would look good in three colors?
I think so! I think it would look good in any amount actually! 😍💜 Happy Knitting, Peggy! xx
Hi Ann! I knit for 13 rounds/stripe! I hope that helps! Yours will look fabulous! Happy knitting, friend! xx
Love the stripes! I do have a question, how are you doing your hem? Looks like a folded hem. Love the look of it.
Hi Brenda! Yes! It is a folded hem. I should have touched more on that. It is how the pattern is written and was not a modification by me. It definitely adds so much to the sweater. Just that extra bit of weight is so lovely! xx
I love your stripes sweaters 😅. I llove your white pants...brand???
Thank you! Those white jeans are AG the Jodi Crop. LOVE them!
New here. I do not knit, but LOVE knitted items. Will you PLEASE tell me about your leather bag?! Thank you.
Well Julie, I am so impressed you watched the video and don't knit! ☺️ Thankyou for making it through. 😂 The leather bag is truly awesome and it is from a shop called Urbana in Oakmont Pa. I have her trying to get more but if you could contact her too maybe that would help! Cheers! 💜
@@LeslieFriend I ADORE knitted garmets.
Regarding the leather bag, will do!
You should knit the Corbis sweater for Rhinebeck. It’s by Natasja Hornby and it’s a fun knit.
ooooooooh, thank you Jennifer! I just added Corbis to my queue! 😍☺️ Happy Knitting, friend! xx
@@LeslieFriend Fruity Knitting talks about it on their last podcast. ☺️
@@LeslieFriend You’re welcome! ☺️
@@LeslieFriend - Thanks very much, Leslie. I'm going to go stash diving this afternoon and start putting together colors. What fun - shopping at home! 🙂
Hi there, I am unable to find the forum on Ravelry. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks Stephanie from California
hi! Yes...

See you there! 💜
If you come close to Lisbon let me know :) ( I live in the Silvercoast but would love to meet in Lisbon :))
Hi Maria! We will be in Lisbon... I will definitely message you on Instagram if we have time to get together. Would love it!
♥️
I knit that pattern using Emma’s Advent kit.
Ohhhhh I bet it is darling! 💜💜
Hello what is the pattern called pls ?
Hi Rose! The sweater I am wearing is the Simple Stripes by Suvi Knits.

Happy Knitting, friend!
Great to hear from you and your striped sweater is beautiful.
Awe! Thank you Keiko! xx
Hi Leslie, you should reach out to the FUN OF KNIT on youtube. She is a Canadian lady who i think lived in Spain and Portugal recently. She bought a bunch of yarn while there if i remember correctly.
Thank you SO much! I certainly will! 🧡🧡🧡

Try Norwegian purling. Much faster and more fluid.
Thank you Paula! I will definitely look it up! I'd love to be faster purling! Happy knitting friend! 💜
That’s not panicking it’s forward stashing lol
Ha! Love it Sue! ☺️
