After enduring a grueling summer of hot weather and high humidity, I am spending the first weekend of fall enjoying cool temperatures and knitting Leslie's "toast' wrist warmers. Toast is such a relaxing project, one that is perfect for holiday gifts. The pair I'm knitting now will not be matched in terms of color arrangement, and I've enjoyed mixing that up.
Very best wishes to Libby. I hope she has the best time in Madrid. You had my eyes all watery, my daughter is returning home from a holiday in Canada tonight, she'll be flying while I sleep. No matter the age we miss are little chicks when they go away. Have a lovely time in Portugal keep safe and happy travels.
How fun seeing you and Libby together. I hope she has an amazing time in Spain. Ten months will fly by. Love seeing the matching sweaters and nutmeg (?) color one is gorgeous as well. Enjoy your time in Porto. My husband and I spent time in Porto and loved it. Take care and safe travels.
A friend just completed the Camino and now is touring Spain and loving it! Libby, you will have a blast! Love your needle work and your new sweater looks great- you will have a piece of your mum with you every day while you are away!
OMGoodness, I was so excited to see Libby join you. I cannot believe she packed 10 months worth of clothing in one bag! 😮 I adore the Daily Pullover. OMG, the Sophie scarf… I’ve been wanting to make one but knew I wouldn’t wear it. I’ve been looking for silk scarfs for my winter handbags, now I know what I’m casting on today, lol. Libby, that strap is amazing!!! I recently started cross stitching and am loving it. I would love to see a vlog or podcast with you both when in Spain. That would be so inspiring to “travel” with you. HUGS and I’ll see you again soon. 😊
How i can understand you! My son has just left for studying in Canada for 10 months. I'm very excited but also very sad for this! I wish your daughter all the best during her staying in Spain. Big hug from Italy!🇮🇹
My daughter taught English in Taiwan for four years. We’re so lucky to have so many ways to communicate these days. Can you imagine if it was still only snail mail 😮. Safe travels! ❤
Libby, I needlepoint and love your purse strap. Have you thought of using a fabric backing and cording instead of leather? It would have to be of a substantial weight, like Ultrasuede fabric (a synthetic faux suede), for example. As far as color, I have no hesitation in recommending red. I would recommend your taking your needlepoint strap to a professional for the finishing work rather than trying to sew it yourself. Rittenhouse Needlepoint in Philadelphia has its own in-house professional finishing department, and they are TOPS. Have a wonderful time in Spain! Your Daily Pullover is lovely. My Linen Quill skeins in Kettle Black have white linen fibers like yours, which I like.
Great, great video. Libby is a doll. I must be the only person on earth who made a Ranunculus and HATED it. I gifted it to a friend who loves very oversized sweaters.
Loved seeing you and your daughter together. I, too, resisted making the Ranunculus until this summer. I love mine! The pattern has been updated to be multi sized. Safe travels for you and your daughter.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful daughter Libby with all of us! You both are so excited, so really enjoy your trip! I'm sure two will miss each alot, but media to the rescue! Nice that you both are crafty, and share the love of handmade things!🦋🤗
How wonderful to see you two together! Beautiful sweaters and such love between you. Best of luck and fun Libby on your new venture. I wish you the best!
This is so great. Libby - have a wonderful time teaching in Spain! What a great opportunity and experience. Your needlepoint is beautiful. Les - Great sweaters too! I'm now buying the pattern and looking at the yarn. (*wink)
Oh Libby is a beautiful crafter! Good luck and enjoy your time abroad. And Leslie, ugh, my heart goes to you. Missing kids is not fun, but you did such a great job raising her and she is so ready because of how she was brought up by you!
What a wonderful experience this will be for Libby and so great that you’ll be travelling there with her! Love both your easy V sweaters Leslie. Gillian ❤
Libby.. You are on your way to Spain.. Known for colors.. So you need a hot red or bright pink for your strap :)) put some Spain vibes on it, so you can remember ror ever. All the best, Nana
All the best in your teaching journey in Spain, Libby! Have fun in Portugal, Leslie! You have an uber awesome sweet daughter, enjoy! Your sweaters are beautiful! Happy knitting!
Oh that was so lovely Leslie 🥰 your daughter is gorgeous. I can see you in her so much. Wow love that bag idea, I’d trim with pink or red. Safe travels and have a marvelous adventure. Your passport is going to get a workout 🤭🫣🥰
It was so nice to knit and watch this morning…I never knew about the zip and stitch and now I am looking online for something to make…I am working on my Rock It Tee and trying to finish up so I can start a sweater for winter. Good luck to you Libby during your time in Spain
Your daughter is beautiful. Love Pittsburgh girls we are all family oriented, and have big huge friendly hearts. ❤ I’m still good friends with my elementary school girls and guys first friends not from my block and not cousins.
Sweaters look beautiful on you both ❤ I have knit one but definitely need a black one! Leslie you'll have that Ranunculus finished by the time you get off the plane -it's a fast knit! Indeed there is something about that sweater...I have knit 4 and planning on a beautiful red one for Christmas. Have a wonderful trip and absolutely wonderful experience in Spain! And I can't wait to see the purse strap finished - it's gorgeous.
Such perfect timing! I just sat down with my coffee to knit on my own daily pullover! Which I’m also doing in kettle black. LOL! I really appreciate the tips, especially the short rows at the lower back….I am going to leave them out. And I’m probably going to do a second pullover….. Your daughter is gorgeous, I hope she has a wonderful year and have a great trip.
What a beautiful relationship you have with Libby! And your sweaters are gorgeous! I don’t know needlepoint but using a red for the edging would look very“Burberry “-ish!
What a treat, two beauties! Best wishes to Libby for a wonderful experience in Spain. Your sweaters are fantastic. I just made the ranunculus too. 😂 It’s such a fun pattern. I love the ascot scarves. I’m currently making Joji Locatelli’s Storm scarf for holiday gifts this year. One skein. Thank you for sharing, Leslie! 💕
I’m totally getting the watering eyes hearing about Libby going to Spain for 10 months. If one of my sons went for that long I would be so excited for them but it would be hard knowing they would be so far away…its already difficult having them away and they are not across the ocean. I’m glad you will have knitting and that you get to visit 😊
Good Luck to Libby! I'm actually working on a Daily Pullover in Linen Quill Kettle Black as we speak that was totally inspired by you. I think I'll love it when it's done but right now I'm really not enjoying the long purl rows on the yolk. Can't wait for the endless stockinette of the body! Have fun in Spain and Portugal.
That was fun! Love your sweaters. Hope you vlog in Spain. I’ve also held back on the Ranunculus because of the one size. I printed it 5 years ago! Can’t wait to see how yours turns out. Happy, safe travels to you both♥️🧶🙏🏼
I love the needle point….why not edge it in red? Just a thin line will make it pop. Good luck with your teaching…I am an Applied Linguist and so teach English as a second language….is that what you are doing in Spain? I have also been to Porto which is lovely and bought some fabric to take home and they kindle gave me another piece free…so kind and friendly. You will have a great time. From Fin in a chilly Uk.
Hello! I just love all your Linen Quill projects...can you tell me the name of the needle you use and the size? I'm having little trouble with my tension on the Half & Half Triangles Wrap and I notice that you're using what looks like a bamboo or wood needle. Are you using the same type of needle and size for your sweaters, too? Any tricks or tips to know with this yarn? It's so fine...not used to using small needles. And your Libby will learn Spanish while teaching English...what a great trade off! Good luck to her.
@@LeslieFriend thank you for responding. Please forgive me for all the questions but I watched your video and I wanted to make a sweater just like that for myself and my daughter so I bought two different colors. I bought the dark Iris and the fresh nutmeg . I can barely see the stitches because they are fine ( I’m use to thicker yarn) and a dark color. I’m making a swatch . I thought that if I paired it with a light color maybe a mohair or silk or even the nut meg linen quill I’d be able to count the stitches a lot easier, so any input is really appreciated. Thank you so much.
Love your vlogs….I think Libby should do a burgundy edge on her strap,it will look very Burberry…love the sweaters…safe travels and have loads of fun..
Beautiful Daughter…Takes after her Mom!!
so sweet! Thank you Linda!❤️

Hello!

And your Libby will learn Spanish while teaching English...what a great trade off! Good luck to her.
How do I modify the pattern to eliminate the short rows? Id like to try this but not sure if its as simple as skipping right to the yoke section?
PLEASE Vlog madrid together ❤
Hello. Could you recommend a reasonable priced yarn that I could pair with the linen quill yarn that’s not scratchy . Thanks
HI! Are you looking for a Mohair?
