You know, if we had a truly progressive taxation system, it would make people like Elmo Flounderface a whole lot easier for us to swallow.

Elon does not get a salary. This is it, besides his current stock ownership. I hate X/ Twitter, and am not an Elon fan socially, but Tesla is a great company and his efforts drove their success.

Scott, saying that YTD Tesla is worst performing stock is not meaningful if you don’t mention the massive run its been on for the last few years. With a marketcap of 500 Billion (10x the marketcap of Ford), a decline in stock price was inevitable, at least in short term.

I wouldn’t purchase stock in tesla, too volatile in my opinion and it’s really only because of the erratic behavior of musk that makes it that way. He’s like Robert Downey Jr. circa 1997

It is really interesting, how shareholders want to kill the company, they own.
Tesla 2018 - 2022 (timespan of the comp plan):
    Revenues: $191.4 Billion
    Gross profit: $45.2 Billion
    Net income: $17.9 Billion
Tesla does not have cash in hand to this salary and compensation related expense. It has to take a loan for it. Or at least for major part of it.

I believe the pay package is stock and not cash? In terms of dilution, I believe the company has already allocated $56B in stock before it ended up being voided so if this new pay package gets approved, nothing will change.
However, I haven't looked into it since I'm neither short/long Tesla stock and I just find the Tesla bull vs bear war fascinating.

He gets awarded options, which I assume he cannot sell for a number of years per the original contract.

Kara is blinded by political bias and hate against Musk and his friends, it's becoming unbearable, I try to keep a broad set of opinions but I'm listening to Pivot less and less as time goes as logical inconsistencies mount, it's really unbearable.
Another sign is her shutting down comments to avoid looking at negative feedback. It just looks like hateful yapping on the sidelines when others do the action quite frankly. C'mon guys! It used to be balanced and interesting.

Holy cow Kara! My view of Elon has tended to match yours. Please remember what happened when he stopped getting compensated for working at Tesla (due to this silly law suit dragging out). He became a big jerk, he bought Twitter, and he became a bigger jerk.
I'm glad you think his compensation package will get re-instated. It will open the door for a new compensation package which should keep Elon busy and off the streets.
The stock does really well when he is compensated. It turns to crap when he's not. Go figure. This should come as no surprise to anyone who has trained a dog or raised a child.

Wow. Kara, you are a brilliant human, but you are painfully uneducated about Tesla. What competition? The Model Y sell TEN TIMES more vehicles than its nearest non Tesla competitor the Mach E, which LOSES tens of thousands of dollars per sale? Wtf are you talking about. Your bias is showing and it’s very, very ugly.

Don't try to educate Karen Swisher, she makes a living off hating achieving men and ignoring facts. Model Y became the best selling car in the world, it's American and it's a tech story, but she doesn't care because Elon's tweet get under her skin.

I’m looking at the facts. The comp package had impossible goals and was approved by shareholders. And Elon blew past those impossible goals. Therefore he earned the money. Not that hard to understand. Additionally, the only reason any other vehicle manufacturer is even attempting to make EVs is because Tesla blindsided everyone and completely disrupted the industry. If you have facts to share, then please share, otherwise step to the side please.

    • @scientificapproach6578
      @scientificapproach6578 2 дня назад

Very true. The competition that is emerging still can't decide whether to build EVs or not. They have all come out with ambitious plans and many car models, only to back out later.
They know that if they build EVs, they will go out of business because they lose tens of thousands of dollars per car. But they also know they will go out of business if they don't build EVs.
The only potential competitors are Ford and BYD. Ford is a long shot, and BYD will be fortunate to sell cars in the USA within the decade.

Elon Musk as an immigrant chose to divide the nation further, attacking his core customer base, of California liberals who could afford a $60k+ electric vehicle. He bought a new toy, Twitter and put Tesla on auto pilot as his $60k+ EV market reached saturation. I will never buy a Musk product. His divisiveness and political vitriol made me sell my Tesla holdings too.
I think he is losing his mind to being the richest kid in the sandbox, and a sense of self importance.
