  • In this video I cut out the openings to install the 2020 flush OEM bed lights on my 2017 taco. Connected them to my rock lights that light up when I open the doors.

      Glad it helps. It's not that hard. Just remember measure twice cut once. Good luck. Thanks for the comment.

    I wish you sold the templates. It'd save a ton of time for everyone and make you a few bucks. Nice job on the install.

      Just take a picture of the template I did with the measurements and make it. Its pretty easy just use the measurements that I used and it should work. Good luck. Thanks for the comment.

      I don't know if the plugs are the same for a 2019 and a 2020. Mine is a 2017 so I did not have any wiring there to tap into. What you can try is, 1- If you have a friend that has a 2020 or newer, compare the plugs and see if they are the same. Or 2- Buy a set of the new ones and if the plugs are different, strip and solder the wires from the new lights to the existing wires.

    Did the plug and play work or did you have to splice and modify the wiring?

    • @juliodavid49
      @juliodavid49  3 года назад

      No, these lights are plug and play for 2020 and newer Tacomas. I had to connect them to my rock lights which turn on with the dome light.

      I connected it directly to the dome light. Check out my video on how to do it.

      @@juniho1000 Look at my video, "Easy way to connect footwell LED to dome lights". After you run the 2 wires from the dome light to under the truck then connect them to the bed lights. It's just 2 wires. I have my foot well lights, rock lights, under the truck lights and my gear shift ball all connected to those 2 wires that I ran from the dome light.

    Could you show the wiring in another video please

    • @juliodavid49
      @juliodavid49  3 года назад +1

      If you go to my my channel you'll find the video I did to connect the dome light to the footwell lights. From there I connected my rock lights and the other lights I have under the truck. I just tapped into those wires to connect my bed lights. It's just 2 wires. I can do a video showing were I connected them but if you don't have a connection to the dome lights it won't help you. First you have to do the dome light connection and then run wires from there. Hope his helps. Let me know how you did.

      @@juliodavid49 thanks, I’ll check that out. However I’d like to connect to the 3rd brake light switch and not my domes. So I was really just interested in what harness you used and how to run it through the bed

      @@87Cloudwalker I don't have a four door, so I don't have that switch. I think I saw a video were someone installed the older bed lights to it. You might have to look at that. Sorry I can't help with that.

      The purpose of the video is to show how to make the mounting holes for this type of lights that do not exist on older 3 gen Tacomas. the wiring can be done in many ways depending how you want the lights to light up. They can be connected to the dome light, an independent on and off switch or connected to power when you turn on your daylight driving lights or anything you want. I did a video on how to tap into the dome lights or look at a video by Yota Xpedition they show an easier way to connect the wires to the dome lights. Hope this helps.
