    Hey scotr, a small correction. I have built my own BLDC controller for a 1kW motor. The PWM is what determines the speed of the motor not the frequency. The frequency is a byproduct of the PWM.
    That being said keep up the good work!

      +Zooty The Duck - Is it? So when you spin a brushless DC motor you'll get useful current out from the ESC? I don't think so ;-) So I'll rephrase my question - perhaps a video on using a brushless motor as a generator etc.

    • @peterlane5006
      @peterlane5006 8 лет назад

      +Sirus ok that makes more sense - but wind does not blow at a constant speed so something would need to account for high and low voltages... now I'm stepping outside my limits...

I would like to start a project that I want to add a electro magnet to serve as a lock for a hidden shelf thing I seen here on the boob tube made by "the king of random" I believe, the only people whos I could think to ask was yourself and "the post apocalyptic inventor" by the way you guys should do a segment together maybe like a head to head battle to make something (you both make the same thing but in your own unique way) made from scrap electronics, you guys are inspiring a whole new generation of inventors and entrepreneurs, you may not realize but by posting these videos you could be directly guiding the life of our newest potential geniuses keep up the good work and keep educating the world!

    Your speed calculation for the switching frequency, depends on the pole pairs.
    Calculation: electrical angle / pole pair = mechanical angle
    Your big PMSM has 4 poles (N+S, N+S) so 2 pole pairs therefore the factor ~ 2
    The small motor, PMSM has 7 pole pairs so 14 magnets inside, right ? ;)
    The fact with the KV story is correct!

Thanks it's a dji mavic pro

    Hi, I was wondering if you could use a esc to control a stand fan motor, it’s because I have one laying around and wanted to see if this could work, I’m a little bit confused because it has 8 coils and 4 wires, do I connect the main 3 to the esc and the last one that is divided into two are supposed to be connected with a capacitor? I want to see if I could controlled it with a dc supply, even though the output of the esc is Ac, but you get the point. If this couldn’t be done what else I can do to make it work, thank you.
    By the way, the wiring I mention is something I think it could work from videos and wiring that I have seen, but not 100% sure.

    What kind of bench power supply would be appropriate for running a bunch of BLDC motors? Like 81 motors each rated for a max 10amp with 30amp esc... I have a project I want to try building but I would rather not use batteries since this is a stationary project that would be used intermittently.

  • @chepar20
    @chepar20 2 года назад

    Dear Scott
    Hopefully you get to read this message.
    Ive seen in most videos that bldc motors are powered with lipo batteries, surely because of the discharge rate of the battery.
    I am new in the subject but I would like to test bldc motors powered with an adjustable dc power supply rather than lipos.
    My question ir regarding the current. Most 100EUR Lab PS outputs only 10A and 0-30V 100A PS costs more than a 1000EUR.
    Will I burn my PS when the motor is loaded or at start? I am missing something here? Are batteries in consecuence the cheapest way to power bldc motors?
    I hope you can help me out here or if you could clarify this in a video would be awesome!! since I believe there is nothing concrete about this in youtube.
    Keep it up!
    Ich habe vor 2 Jahren in BW studiert. Ich wusste nicht, dass wir praktisch Nachbarn waren xD 70372.

    normal 3-phase AC motors are actually just "brushless motors" so it would be theretically possible to build an esc that such an motor operates. am i wrong? I think it would easier and cheaper then a frequenzy converter. Mach weiterhin solche Videos! viele Grüße aus Bayern
