this is awesome, i love how you're actively teaching and showing your diagnosis process. im a programmer by trade but i love cars so this is super helpful. just subbed
I bought a new Skoda a few years ago and one key hadn’t been coded to the car. Didn’t know until I sold it and tried the spare. Great content as always, looking forward to the next instalment!!
Genuinely my first thoughts were that the key had been changed and the originals weren't recognised. I thought there was mechanical release under the centre console/arm rest on these electronic handbrake models but I guess not on the Q5. Looking forward to the rest of the resto, cheers for another good video!
I did my apprenticeship at Porsche, many many years ago. Then went to all the main dealers, Nissan,, Toyota,, VW.. I did exactly what your doing now,, then one day I woke up sold everything I had,, bought a farm in UK.. Best thing I ever did,,, Make the most of your time+enjoy it,,, Great Great video.
A lot of stolen recovered cars will be absolutely fine once they’ve had a deep clean, from the cars point of view all that’s happened is someone else has driven it.
Well done for finally getting it started your computer scanner and also your key programmer chappy is a life saver keep up the good hard work 👍👍🚗 best regards stay safe Mark from Billericay 🇬🇧
I was amazed after watching your video how unearth can anybody give you thumbs down I’m not a mechanic but always been interested in the Way cars run I come from the The time when the car wouldn’t start you took the top of the distributor to see if there was a spark. Unfortunately for old timers like me there go on forever. Although I know nothing about modern technology and fault finding I was able to follow all the way through your diagnosis regarding the issue. Although I’m physically disabled my head still works fine so I will look forward to watching your future videos because it’s never too late to learn even if you’re never be able to do it
Easy to recode a new key yourself, you need two things 1) Vag Pin Code Reader £40-80 depending where you get it (CEMTL) 2) VCDS (can look up a guide how add key)
They paint all the bumpers separate (and at different times, sometimes at an entirely different factory) from the body these days on mass production cars. Which is why you get this problem.
Mark Mawson most of them paint are been done by the main dealer in the back yard garage not professionally because they are lease cars when they get the car back after 3 year of leasing cars come with a lot of scratched and stone ships so they do cheap paint and after market parts to make it ready for resale
Mate keep up the amazing work! I have the same engine in my A4, and it would be really amazing to see you do some diesels, not only petrol engined cars! And also i think i can say it in everybodys name, we would really love to see more actual repair content, not just timelapsed. These videos of you telling how you diagnosed certain problems worth gold!! I learn a lot from you! Please never stop doing videos. Cheers!
Unbelievable and frankly shocking that you were able to reprogram the keys without having access to the now 'real' key that the car recognises (the one the thieves programmed). I knew that thieves use the OBD2 port to start cars and drive them away, but what I learned now is that they can on the spot just make a new key and off they are. Pretty bad that the manufacturer doesn't or cannot stop that.
I know this is a while ago but manufacturer has to build in this option for all keys lost incase, obviously, all keys are lost😂it is annoying though I give you that, some devices can do it in as little as 10 seconds as well which means they are just off with your car before you can blink
Great video.. Im buying 1 of these next week in same colour and engine spec. If 3 wheels have shiney bolts and 1 has all rusted. Is there a reason for this? Any other things to look out for on these Q5 diesels
I know this is 3 years ago now but for anyone who doesn’t know what they do is jump in connect obd and run a program that allows “all keys lost” option, means they can code a key right there and then just pulls data from eeprom etc and takes very little time some models under 10 seconds Audi normally a little longer but generally always the same thing and easy to sort. Makes it a massive pain to move around etc though of course.
Lovely Q5! Easy, quick turn around for you mate! So, when are you gonna get the interior for the Polo put in? I've really enjoyed the Polo journey. Its gonna be absolutely mint when you've finished with it!
Glad I stumbled on your channel. Along with "Hub Nut", "Furious Driving", "Volkswizard", "Hoovies" & "Car Wizard" its informative as well as entertaining.
We have the same spec Q5 3.0 TDI here in the USA. Love it! But emissions system has needed a few repairs, fortunately under warranty. Sensors and such.
Isn't there a manual release for the hand brake? Peugeot includes a flexible cable where the spare wheel is. It has a little 90 degree handle. You put it in a hole on the passenger side floor which then clicks into a part of the handbrake. You then keep turning which manually releases it.
You need to treat yourself to a set of skates/casters would have been handy to have for the polo and q5... probably some other cars! Great video, glad it turned on 👏🏻
Audi branded batteries are VARTA Silver with a few Audi stickers covering the Varta logo, for my Audi a Varta Silver was about £130, my local Audi dealership wanted £265 + VAT.
got to admit that from the minute you couldn't get anything from the car in terms of power I was yelling 'that's the battery that mate! at my tv. i thought it would be the original one too! sorry I'm not usually this right about cars lol. nice car btw! just subbed so will catch up asap. eddited again.. good job on the car there! good move with milk crates and then the coding for the new keys, looks like a beast of a car, is it a v6??
dash has to come out ? or area where key ignition system sits using the special tool to release the tabs and pull out replace with new or used one. Then use same keys as the ignition is not fitted to any control modules nor the ecu ecm pcm or otherwise
The TDI is recalled for emission controls, and the main control modules and all engine sensors are covered by a factory warranty for four years after the work is done. You should call a dealer to see the status of the Q5. My 2013 Q7 still has 2 years and 30k kilometres left
I think if you recoded the battery in VCDS (as you should when replacing the battery) so it reset the Ah capacity and then connected the jump pack it would have started (or tried to)
Could not be more pleased, I had a grin from ear to ear and it's not my car.
Well done.
Thankyou mate 😊

@@ranjansarma2267 he's Pakistani
yah, no sane european would view buying a farm in england as good thing 🤣
Excellent video i had the same problem with an S5 so knew exactly what the problem was....nice 1
Well done ! Patience is a virtue and you've got yourself a really nice car . 👍
Superb and clear.. Certainly makes you aware of buying a stolen cars and what issues you face
A lot of stolen recovered cars will be absolutely fine once they’ve had a deep clean, from the cars point of view all that’s happened is someone else has driven it.
Delighted for you buddy, always good to have contacts like your mate to help 😀😀
Enjoying the content as usual, refreshed interest with the Q5, look forward to what you'll do with it

love you showing the process
Nice one great to see technical knowledge paying off👍🏻
Wow, excellent job. From Puerto Rico, thank you for sharing the info.
Thanks for watching!

Great video, very interesting and learned a few things, keep us updated with the Audi
New subscriber here. Great videos and good work on shifting it across the yard 😄 Good result....I’ll watch the other ones now 👍🏼
First video Ive seen of yours but can tell that you put a lot of effort in your vids. Great stuff.
That has to be the best slogan I have ever heard . « Can’t sell them so buy more » 😂 nice one
Haha been telling the misses same thing 😂
Good business man😂
But the person he got the Q5 from can sell them
@@DirtIndustry
That's not what hè said
Very interesting video mate, love to see behind the scenes so to speak with the VCDS and the laptop stuff. But that’s also why I hate newer cars 🤣
Cracking video! Love the ones where you have to fault-find and solve mysteries!
Thanks 😊

Excellent video sir!!!!
First time on your channel, found it real interesting, cant wait to see more from you especially on this Great Audi
Thanks
Looks like the rear bumper and lower part of the rear hatch has been painted together because they seem to colour match
Most probably second hand. If it has been painted who ever painted it needs to go to spec savers.
Its actually the rear quarter panel and osr door thats been painted. doh
@@SavingSalvage stevie wonder must of painted it. Do a video of a walk around showing the paint work and not just the rear end.
They paint all the bumpers separate (and at different times, sometimes at an entirely different factory) from the body these days on mass production cars. Which is why you get this problem.

Great video Dean. Awesome car. Hopefully you don’t have to spend too much on it to get it tip top
Good work sorting it out. Is there something up with the colour match on the Polo GTI? Door and wing look a different shade in thus vid.
Great Job!! Can’t wait to see what you do with it.. 👍👌

nice video! can you share how to reprogramm a key? you made it by vcds or odis?
Which Copart did you get it from and how much was it? Love your videos I’m working on a VW polo 2012 from Copart

Nice troubleshooting. You do love the vw / Audi’s...
It’s what I know 😃
Do we you have in plans to paint polo in the same colour as the front wing and drivers door are don't match??
Wow...what a result that was 😎
What are you using for software and hardware to do diagnostics?

Yep! That’s pretty standard with a lot of Audi parts! They have a massive mark up
Also Varta & Bosch batteries are made in the same factory, they have the exact same shape casings

Yeah the battery was knackered, but main fault was the keys, yep its a 3.0 v6 240ps
Aren't they Q3 alloys? Our old 2016 SLine plus Q3 came with those wheels, I didn't realise the Q5 had them too?

You can use Vcds the release the epb. Thinking outside the box with forklift and skates. 👍
Not with the ignition off.. wouldn’t communicate
What tool you use to program keys?
Looking for a new samcrac channel, and I find a uk copart buyer, cool, subbed
Is it permanent Quattro as wouldn't it wear without 4 identical tread tyres?! Major service, cambelt, tyres, MOT and a healthy profit.
Any updates on the Audi Q7 with air suspension issues.. I can only find two videos

What OBD scanner do you use please? Would you be able to recommend any good low price ones
I use VAGCOM which is a VAG group tool. It is a generic obd reader too. I don’t have any other tool so wouldn’t know which to recommend sorry
