I’ve owned Audis for over 20 years and in my opinion the more you service them at dealers, the more goes wrong with them. All I do now is change the oil twice a year and filter once a year. I have spent hardly anything on maintenance on my current two Audis, a Q7 and A3 TDI over the last 5 years. The thing that break would still have broken had they been fully serviced, like suspension bushings etc. so save up on service and put the money aside for when something breaks is my advice. I now have over $15000 set aside from not doing regular service and will use this to fix any major issues.

It’s an Audi… it needs full regular maintenance or it’s going to be a money pit. Nothing can make up for the engine damage and wear if it hasn’t been serviced regularly this far in its life, so definitely reconstruct that history.

With a premium car brand, condition is everything. I’ve bought a car with similar history in the past (a Lexus) and managed to get hold of the full service history by making one phone call. As an aside, I’d never buy an Audi with full leather as it tends to go baggy after time. Presumably, larger people buy Audis 🤣

I've been waiting for what seems like a decade for used values to drop below £20k. I feel like they've hovered around there for five+ years. A quick look on Autotrader though and it appears the much newer Q8 isn't too far behind, I'm thinking mid 20's at auction. That's a heck of a lot of car for the money. The latest shape VW Tuareg thingy is also in the mid to low 20's. I'd still go for the Q8 though, but still...so much metal for not much outlay. And no, running it won't be more than my much older M3.

There’s a reason why the main dealer didn’t retail it. Last MOT looks as if it’s been damage repaired, no way a car like that would fail with that many suspension problems. Sorry looks like a mechanically abused (expensive) family car. Being a diesel going that long without a service assuming there is no further missing history I’d be worried about oil quality with dilution when DPF regens - potential damage done. I’d run a mile but GLWS.

  • @robbey300

Get a print out from Audi with its VIN number - assuming it has full dealer history. The books can be had from breakers yards or eBay as they are not car specific. And lastly after all the work including FOUR new tyres, give a boiler plate 6 months warranty. Good luck!

    • @victorbox6289

@@vladandrei51 The point is that bent suspension arms etc. can unbolted and replaced, but the vehicle has possibly hit something really hard to bend all the items listed in the MOT fail. Rest of the vehicle these items are attached to if bent needs to go on a jig. Matt says car was pulling to one side on test drive and this is after presumably the £1,800 bill mentioned from the Audi dealer. It seems strange to push CarVertical but appear to only use it after agreeing to purchase the vehicle. Odd.

I thought that this generation of Audi Q7 had the service history digitally loaded on, providing the dealers have loaded it on the car. There should be a way to check, go onto the infotainment screen, load the car symbol and it should say Service Requirements, go on that, and push the round dial to the left, there should be an option for Service History. Failing that, all Audi's have been part of an online Service database since 2014, which might be of some help.

I find it interesting that when you get a lucky break you also get a lottery ticket. I would suggest that your luck has been used, there is NO luck left. I was worried when you found different tyres on the vehicle. All my cars are serviced and maintained, I would never put different brands of rubber on a vehicle. All the same brand as it will affect the way a vehicle drives. I have walked away from many a vehicle because there is a mix of tyre brands.

Hi Matt just check the Audi dealership with your rapport I'm sure one of them will let you know It's an online record of the maintenance work your car's had done to it. It's usually stored in your car manufacturer's secure online database, and it's only directly accessible by official dealers and workshops, although you can usually request printouts of previous work.(I should of watched the video all the way through before trying to help haha) i didn't doubt you would get the history well done , not a bad result .Matts High peak Bin hiding today i see 🤣
