the future of rock and roll is safe
Yes.
I definitely agree with you. I always worry that rock is dying out but people like Courtney prove that it's got many years left.

+Pedro Bernardo There is a special place in heaven for people like you.
you the plug
Desde hace buen tiempo que he querido escribirte agradeciéndote por el setlist , pero por una extraña razón siempre lo olvidaba.
Muchas gracias.
Pedro Bernardo oh Dios gracias por esto 👌👌👌💃
KEXP seem to have the best recording engineers in the biz
Oh it sure appears that way. Another stellar audiovisual performance!
Totally agree. Kick ass show.
They are called producers :O)
No.
except for the lack of level on the bass player's harmony vocals on the first song or 2. It's brilliant otherwise. It helps that Courtney is an understated tone genius on guitar.
My ears are in Heaven! ❤
Love her lyrics, her delivery, her sound, her attitude......her EVERYTHING!!!!!
I just love her hypnotic lyrics
Simple, passionate and raw musical talent! All the right ingredients for true Rock n Roll!!! If Patti Smith and Neil Young had a daughter, her name would be Courtney Barnett!
Love it.
She's so cool and refreshing
The older I get, the rarer the band that causes me to get as geeked out over new music as I did when I was 18 or so. This gives me that same rush. Awesome, just fucking awesome.
I am in the same place .. its the same for me too... liking this band.
Yeah Jeremy, the band psychs me too, chair-dancing at work
Jeremy Hess Best 'new' international talent to come along in a long time. As as an 'older' I totally agree. Plus she seems *real* in real life too - no pretentiousness, no attitude. Seldom used expressed but she was brought up right.
FUCK YEAH!!
Jeremy Hess
Incredible, been a long, long time since I felt like this!
god damn, the girls got some serious talent. Awesome performance
point #1: Based on Wye Oak and this Courtney Barnett performance, KEXP has got hold of a magical dragon here. I think others have commented that these live performances sound better than studio recordings. Very well mixed, produced. Very exciting.
point#2:Courtney Barnett is some kind of Australian goddess.
1&2: exactly
wasnt planning on watching this whole video but they hooked me in and i was very impressed the sound they can make with a 3 piece band, Courtney will be playing the Pitchfork festival this summer.
I don't know about dragons and goddesses but she definitely makes you feel and it's cool, pretty funny too :)
I've closed my eyes for a moment and suddenly I was back in 1993. Strange good feeling!!
@Nathaniel Birthurth The first song could have been written by Kurt Cobain.
Saw her the other night in Seattle. She was spectacular.
I was there too!
11 years after this show was recorded, and it still doesn't get old. I love this!!
Seeing her in December (2015) in Sydney. SO STOKED!
I play her albums whilst doing my work. A breath of fresh air in Australian music.
I just discovered her this summer while traveling New England coast in a Toyota rv. Really love it so much and made the summer so happy. Would just let her cruise on spotifY everyday and loved it all. Never heard Kurt either but knew he was a Ween fan. Older fella here and totally diggin it! I love happy surprises fuck yeah. Ready for the new one to drop! Makes me smile!
WOW
she is something else ...
I was her age when she was born.... I'm old but very impressed with this music! I came from an era of great music so that's some kind of a reference right? Great music, great musicians. Peace!
This was a perfect show.
Damn! This band making a 50 some odd year old feel like a teenager again...... Courtney gots the soul.....
Love it. I could listen to this band all day.
Kudos to the Film Crew, Sound Engineer, and Video Editor. Of course the band is talented, but it's your work that really makes this performance shine. ~clap clap clap~
+cseeger1 somehow I feel like I wouldnt have found this comment on here if the performer was male lol
jigyoda dude, all I did was state my assumption
Completely agree!
@@PeepsILoveEllie -- Yeah I get your point but it really is true with KEXP videos. I'm not the first to recognize just how good their sound is. As for Courtney, well shit...it goes without saying how awesome she is and how good this performance is.
I saw this band on PBS and fell in love with them!!!! Courtney Barnett's voice is amazing!!!♥♥♥
I just saw her for the first time on Saturday Night Live. She kicks ass.
idk how many times ive watched this already but i just keep coming back to this performance...
5 years later, still awesome.
modern day poet. such incredible talent. so dreamy!
This is great stuff. So happy someone is still making rock music.
Unbelievable! She has a huge career in front of her.
This is my first time listen to Courtney and I'm blown away!
One of the last rebels we have. Avant Gardener is my lifes theme song.
Completely blown away by her style and performance. Bass and drummer are no slouches either.
Man, she's GREAT! Girl can really rock it out. Who says rock and guitar bands are dead? And how in the world do they sound this good LIVE (I don't know how KEXP does it, but I'm not the first one to notice their excellent sound engineering)? Amazing. And that tele sounds awesome. I'm enthralled with this chick. She's just.....perfect. I can't believe how good she is, her style, her playing ability, her personality, her voice (I love it), not to mention she's cute as hell. Speaking of which, is it just me or does she look like she could be Russell Crowe's daughter? Why don't you ever hear stuff like this on the radio? This beats the crap out of anything you hear over the major airwaves today. There's still some good music out there; you just have to dig for it.
Lot of questions there mate. Which one do u want answered first? 😆
This band is effin' flawless. Simply brilliant.
I'm beating myself up for not making their San Francisco show. Thanks for posting this. It's insanely wonderful. So exactly what I needed tonight (and, likely, that night I missed their performance in S.F. Dammit!).
4 or 5 days ago, I had no idea who she was, never heard of her. Starting listening to Kurt Vile and heard the music they put out together. I'm kind of hooked. Good Stuff.
great works , jingle jangle , thats my fave.
That base on Avant Gardener is so incredebly sweet
I love how she plays. What a great sound. Rhythm section is brilliant, too.
I first heard this band on Spotify, and have been hooked every since. Call simple, boring or what ever, I love it. Rock on.
Saw her live and she's fucking awesome!!
Gibson Ripper Bass! Such a classic. Modified, but still a groove.
Love this band. Just three soles playing their hearts out. No gimmicks, no bullshit. Just raw and passionate.
Three soles? Are they all one legged?
Amazing. The best new artist I have heard in years. Brilliant stuff. What a cutie too.
I Agree! This live performance tells me that rock and roll will never die!
The thing is, if your songs are based around standard open chords, of course they're gonna resemble some other song as using chords in that was has always been very popular. I see lots of influence but I think she's really original.
She absolutely is. Avante Gardener hooked me.
only so many chords in the alphabet :P
Isaac Wright also, Lance Jr is a direct response to Another song called Lance so of course those two songs are going to sound very similar.
She pays homage to many in musical tributes
There was a time that i thought that music like this was dead forever .. Absolutely Outstanding !!
Finally got to see Courtney live at Electric Picnic, Co. Meath, in Ireland last Sunday Sept 2nd.
Absolutely loved every minute of it... can't wait to her perform here again :0)
Can't wait to see her again tomorrow night, here in Lima, Peru. :)
So glad I'm subscribed to KEXP; I watch this every day! :D
I can't get enough of this girl
True, pure, raw and amazing!
love the tear of her voice, specially in history eraser
Thank you Guys! I really like
Over a million views, holy wow. Well deserved, but unexpected.
I really hope Courtney Barnett will be remembered as a great songwriter in the future. Maybe she won't have as much impact as Nirvana or whatever, but the lyricism is insane.
NO comparisons, just really, really good rock n roll..
This discovery totally makes my sunday and quite likely a few more days to come.
Everything about her is lovable, and I love all of it.
She has clever lyrics too. Really good. Rock Lives!!!!!
the first gig that I saw her and I fell in love with her music
Oh my God, she's fantastic.
Love her, she has that sound I grew up with !!!!!
Never heard of her till I read about her in
Rolling Stones, and had to check her out.
I was blown away
For me Courtney was the highlight of Latitude 2016 and there were LOADS of excellent bands there. Can't wait to see her again.
Everything is coming up Courtney! Thank you KEXP and thank you Courtney and company!!
Keep keeping on!
Great voice, great songwriter and great performance:)
the day that changed my life forever
Hi.
Helluva tone from that tele
Know what amp that is? 59 Bassman maybe? Great tone overall
plus some pedal dirt... some delay for sure; I'd love to see her setup. I did get a glimpse of a boss tuner going into a OCD going into some soft of a dark colored delay pedal.
Wow - they are so on fire in this! Might be the best live recording I've ever heard on the RUclips!

A lot of my favorite bands come from Australia... Screamfeeder, An Horse, and now Courtney Barnett on repeat!
What a badass performance. Courney Barnett ROCKS.
I love her so much
remembering today my Courtney epiphany on June 2, 2015, right here!!
discover new music at KEXP DOT OH ARRR GEEEEE!
Gritty, grimy and poetic. Love it !
David is such a great song!
I'm 55 years old and love the sound off Courtney (the most) She reminds me off the voice off Crace Slick.
Really appreciate the camera and audio sync. Brilliant capture of this performance.
Courtney, I'm also left handed which I think makes somehow makes peace in the wonderful planet we live in on. Hug each other please. This recording is my favorite Courtney Barnett.
This girl has incredible talent. Some great words of Melbourne physiology, make up and why we are the way are.
oh man these guitars woooow love
really love this twang and grunge feel
Really enjoyed listening to the ep and the new cd. I'm an oldie muso but can still appreciate a good song writer who is inventive and challenges the norms. Since my son and family have moved to Tassie, I have become very interested in the vibrant music scene in Australia and this is certainly one of the best artists. As we say in Cornwall, "Good on ya mate, it's fair dinkum".
my absolute hero
Thank you very much again!!!
WOW, I love this style of music, part Rock, Blues, Headbanger, with a Slow, Campy, Swampy , Off Key, Dark , Melodic, driving beat sound. YES. reminds me of Lucinda Williams when she rocks. Courneys a plain Cutie, Drummer looks like the Foo Fighter, Bass player looks like James McMurtry. Gimme more.
@@KSpirit54 You should patent that. Good work 😎

She has that awesome Aussie 80's indie sound. Love her!
