Neil Young was right. Rock and Roll can never die. What a refreshing sound! Hints of Patti Smth, Lou Reed/Velvet Underground, grunge, Chrissy Hind, and Neil Young guitar tone creeps in. But she's her own style and very addictive. I love it.

Yeah man, I think she's up there. Wolf Alice, who Courtney happens to be a fan of, is pretty damn entertaining too (IMHO). You watch some of the early acoustic vids and are like , yeah these kids got something....now they're huge

I never really clicked with Hopefulessness until seeing Courtney live. Then I GOT it: it's a rock song, it's practically a Nirvana tune. Awesome talent.

I met Courtney when she did her first tour of the US she was in Denver at a small club called the Larimer Lounge, we shook hands and chatted a bit and then she and the band went to eat dinner before the show. Nice girl.

Courtney Barnett has to be the most promising musician of this generation.
The problem is that she can't sing very well.
But the band is really tight.
Depends on the genre. King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard would be my first pick for rock, next to Tame Impala.
They're all Australian btw, somethings in their fucking water. Same goes for new New Zealand artists

I’d have been at this concert for sure if I only knew who she was and how awesome her music is back then, in 2018. Chicago is my hometown, so it would’ve been marvelous to make the trip and visit family and friends while making it out to that festival. Better late than never when discovering amazing artists who make such magic!

Courtney did this the hard way... constant touring and promo and raw talent. She's level headed and doesn't preach. Maybe that's where the hating originated. Openly gay but not making a big deal of it. I wish her and Jen much happiness. And if that offends you then you can pucker up and kiss my bisexual ass.

@Any Rebel Nah. They are just friends. I actually they meet through touring and thanks to Courtney's girlfriend/partner Jen Cloher. I think Kurt is married with 2 or 3 kids.
He is. Courtney and Jen refer to each other as "my wife" and wear wedding rings, although same sex marriage has only just been legalised in Australia, so they are presently only married because they say they are.
