I recently purchased two of these monitors. I have them set up side by side. I’ve been using them as my primary screens for work. I must say that it’s an excellent setup. For business (ie Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel etc) it is fantastic. So too reading full page PDFs in portrait mode. I have also used it with Lightroom and it’s pretty cool. Overall, highly recommend this monitor as a primary screen, especially if you are a trader or business professional.
I thinking about doing the same to replace my 38". What was your prior setup?
@@Daiphiron I had a 34” curved HP wide monitor. It was and is still great but for my workflow, these are dope
hey :) that actually sounds like a great idea, would you feel like sharing a picture of them side by side to us ? thinking of doing the same ! many thanks in advance
@@snfgriefers sure would love to. However, RUclips doesn’t seem to let me post pictures
@@diegorenevelasquez hows it going 7 months later with the dual screens? I'm thinking of getting the same and keen to hear your thoughts.
Just bought one of these to go along with my 34 inch LG Ultrawide. It is the weirdest monitor I’ve ever used but it is absolutely perfect for needs since I have a lot of vertical work that I do each day. I had the monitor low in terms of positioning and don’t have issues with the height. Good call on the display scaling too.
Using Picture by Picture mode even with just one machine has a couple of nice benefits. Since it acts as two monitors to the OS, you can use separate virtual desktops on both halves of the screen. This can make it really fast to switch between sets of windows by just swiping with your trackpad. Fullscreen apps will also scale to half of the screen so you can put that YT video in fullscreen and show it on e.g the top half while you have something else going on the bottom.
I love when work setups look professional enough without the need to integrate too many devices and "paraphernalia". Thumbs up for minimalism! I recently installed a Protractor Desk from Barcelona Designs in my home office and have noticed how my productivity, inspiration and enthusiasm to work have increased, just by feeling more comfortable in my own environment. I still have many more things to improve, but I'm on the right track. Thanks for the video!
The price point of the monitor seems deliberately aimed at just trying the format and seeing how well it sells without making the cost prohibitive to LG themselves or the customer. That's probably why it's only 60hz. I suspect if i sells well then LG may bring out a v2 with improvements.
Nice Take 💪🏽
Idk, because a lot of productivity displays, even flagships are 60Hz. Displays targeted for gaming get higher refresh rates.
But LG is watching if we want smaller gaming OLEDs. So they are paying attention. This almost square display is weird to begin with, so who knows.
I’ve been using two 16:9 monitors vertically joining them in software (on windows i used autohotkey and on Linux is just an xrandr command) for 5 years now. I love tall displays for programming, viewing/writing documents and browsing the web.
I want LG to still make a 3:2 aspect monitor. I really enjoy it on my surface laptop, and I would love to have it displayed on a larger screen. I know Huawei makes one, but I would like to see one made with support for a VESA mount. Heck or if they made it part of their line that includes their arm. I think it's cool to see different monitor sizes. Heck I wouldn't mind if they suddenly started making 4:3 monitors with really good ppi or scaling. I would probably buy one. Great video!
I bought the dual up for one of my workstations / printing RIPS. Perfect for this use scenario
3:13 Important if you plan on buying this monitor and plan to scale down the resolution. This has frustrated me as well with the M1 Macs and monitors that aren't at a minimum 4K. I've tried scaling down a 1440p monitor and the text ends up looking fuzzy like Oliur said. BetterDisplay does help albeit a bit glitchy at times. The other option is to use no scaling but bring the monitor closer to you so it's easier to read the text (although ergonomics could become an issue). Since my 1440p monitor is a secondary screen, not having sharp text isn't a dealbreaker but it's still an annoyance.
Using this with early 2015 MacBook Pro. No matter what resolution settings I choose the display on LG looks vertically stretched, cannot get the resolution to look proper, any tips?
Is this still true with an m3 (or m2) or just the m1 Mac?
Been waiting to see your take on this Monitor !
Using splitscreen with two inputs from the same device helps with window management as it’s easier to just maximise two windows than to fiddle with third-party window management tools like Magnet to achieve the same result.
Using BTT, divvy or magnet is just as easy and still gives you the full screen available for other configurations
For M1 and M2 Macbooks this is not an option unless you’re using the 14”, 16”, or Mac Mini since the devices can only use one display
Fantastic content as always! Thank you very much.
love the colors for this video
I'm waiting on mine and looking to forward to seeing if I can use the split screen to show my Apple TV and my work at the same time.
Hey!!! Your video here exactly giving me the insight of my concerns of getting this Monitor, because I have the same set of Bose Companion 5 speaker sitting on my desk, and I was afraid setting the monitor too high would defect the egornomic propose and too low would block the speaker interfere with the sound quality.
This is perfect for my WFH setup. My company provides me a virtual machine to work on and while It'll reconginze multiple displays it doesn't recognize resolutions for ultra wide. With this monitor I can connect two display inputs without the need of having two monitors.
Just the setup I was looking for great video 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks for the great review. Can you tell me please how low will the monitor go - how close to the table will the lower edge be when in portrait mode?
Hello @oliur, you mentioned linking the BetterDisplay settings in video but I don't see them anywhere here.. Mind sharing those?
awesome review. Is this the Macbook pro max or pro version? how much ram? is there any fan noise when using 2 or more screens & doing some heavy tasks? Cheers
I have waiting for more dualup and waiting for it to get back in stock
For those interested in doing photo editing work on this I can confirm that is great. For starters if you have a colorimeter like SpyderX or i1display, you CAN use the LG Calibration studio software with it. Not quite the same as having a 14-bit look table built in like some monitors from Viewsonic or BenQ, but if you understand how to calibrate correctly you can get outstanding result from this panel. In my case I was able to get 99% sRGB, 90% AdobeRGB, and 93% DCI-P3. Not quite LG claims, but very close. Both portrait and landscape images can be displayed quite large in photoshop. Unlike in a 27" monitor where landscape photos display nice an large but portrait photos seem too small. This "square" monitor gives you plenty of space for both photo orientations. My only complain so far is that thicker bezel at the bottom, they should have made it the same all around so when you rotate it the thicker bezel isn't on the right side. it is ugly but sometimes it creates a better layout for work.
I pre ordered mine, excited and awaiting for it to come. I paid about 530$ which is nice given I live in European country and you have to account the VAT (23%) and any other taxes into the price.
Here to shout about how awesome the lighting in this video is. Lovely stuff sir 🤌🏻👍🏻🙌🏻
Also at 7:00 you mention the single input/dual displays question- this is helpful if you’re used to giving presentations in Keynote/Powerpoint etc and need to control what the audience sees (E.g. presenter mode) on one screen whilst having a ‘backstage’ area for notes, websites, chat management on another screen. That’s how I’d use it anyway!
love it. I will buy one soon
I have a dilemma whether to buy one 55 inch monitor or 3 x LG DualUP. With such a high resolution, I have to change the scaling in the system to 150% anyway. At 55 inches, I will lose less workspace. Any idea?
Just got the monitor and need a new desk due to size. Would like to know what size desk you have as this seems perfect
i would get the dualup monitor when i saw other people's aesthetic setup with that. it sure looks odd on a deskspace
Just how much range of motion does the arm have? I'd have to affix it to a cross-stub in the unfinished wall behind my desk, so the clamp would face away from me. Can it swivel a full 180 degrees from there so the monitor would face me?
That monitor is wonderful
Good info, I bought this monitor for my home office and have been trying to figure what primary monitor to pair it with. I was thinking 27” but a 32 might be better from the looks of it.
I have a Gigabyte M32U and I am thinking of buying this one as a second monitor. Have you bought your primary 32” already? Liked the duo?
Thank you for sharing.
Where can I get that Budget Planning? Very nice vídeo btw!!
BetterDisplay is an incredible find... I've owned an LG Ultrawide for about >6 years and never was able to control the volume/brightness natively, this tool enables that out of the box!
Where can I find Better display?
I was thinking of doing a similar setup. Great video, Oliur!
Does it bother you going from the gloss of the XDR to the matte screen of the LG Dual Up?
Tbh I didn’t even notice the difference.
@Oliur / UltraLinx Good to know! Thanks 👊🏾
@@Oliur Hey! I know its unrelated, but I really recommend you try the vanatoo t0. They sound absolutely amazing for their size and have an aesthetic I'm sure you'll appreciate. I'm sure that they'll also work great as studio monitors (for your video editing ofc) (and ty Jon)
One monitor as two displays …. Virtual desk tops! I use a two screen set up now (laptop, and one external monitor). I use about 6 virtual desktops with these two environments. I’ve gone one for production, one for dev environments, one for email and slack one for web stuff. And it goes on and on.
The ability to use this as two separate monitors is what I like most about it. I’m eager to try it as two monitors flipped on their side.
This will give me a long view for my code. And this will let me split the second side vertically to show other things (email and slack or … whatever).
An these be daisy-chained with a single cable? I’m having a mental wet dream of having 2 or 3 if these next to one another, but the limited number of TBolt ports on a MacBook concern me.
Hi @Oliur! Is the Thunderbolt dock required for the MBP to drive both displays?
My monitor got delivered yesterday and i had the same issue as you (scaling) but I found something that worked a little bit better for me. In Better Display you can set a customer scaling and I've found that 84% is excellent. Its an intermediate between 1440p and its full resolution.
This display is fantastic but you really do have to use Better Display to get it set up properly.
Curious, which "dummy" display resolution did you create to get there? I'm having trouble getting the scaling to work properly.
@@AlexTyson_ Did you get it working?
@@RhondaRust yes
@@AlexTyson_ do you like the monitor

How thick does the desk have to be to work with the dualup desk mount
I couldn't find the Better Display link... Can you post it? Thank you..
Have you had any flickering issues while setting a different resolution using better display?? I always get stupid flickering when I change the default resolution, even with better display. I don't think the monitor is faulty as I have a windows work laptop and the issue never happens.
Does the M1 scaling problem also happen with an M1 Pro? Additionally, what's the link to the workaround for the scaling issues?
I need this format. The specs are still lacking for me, as it needs better refresh rate and ppi.
U look good bro, thanks for sharing video about cancer, hope u are doing well
For me, I have office mac and personal mac, Since office mac could not use for personal work. I want connect both to one monitor and single keyboard and mouse, However unfortunately the kvm is not work with bluetooth device, i am trying to connect my keychrone keyboard and logitect 3s mouse. But i odnt think it will work.
Hai
I just want ask you how you close the MacBook but the screen still on? My one if I close the MacBook the screen is off? Do you know how to do that? Thanks
Thanks for the update on the monitor. Question, what dock are you using to display from you M1 Mac to both the Main 4k display & LG DualUp at the same time ?
You don’t need a dock. You can connect both directly to the MacBook.
@oliur!! How did you get the scale down to 1280x1440? The closest I could get using the betterdisplay app was 1920x1440. please help!!
hello I love the wallpaper, can you give me the image?
can we please get a video on how you set up your BetterDisplay Settings!!!!!!!
Request consult support : I am a digital painter, does it apply to Ipadpro 2022 ? 😄
Where could I find better display?
What is this other monitor please ? Your main monitor . Ty
the move away from 16:10 displays to 16:9 as the standard for basically everyrthing was a terible loss for actual productivity on computers. glad that alternatives are coming out and giving us our height back.
That monitor is very odd looking screen. Like it 😄
Where is the link to the mac anustment? To make text less fuzzy.
love the ending haha
can one connect two of these together?
do you sell background for the monitor? :-D
Oliur - How are you using dual screens on a M1 macbook?
How are the speakers?
I would love that they sell the dual stand only
wonderful video
It's surprisingly difficult to find a decent monitor that can do the USB-C power delivery as well.
Looking for a "one cable setup" monitor that I can have plugged into my Macbook/work laptop, whilst always being plugged into my PS5 as well. (needs to be 4K, HDMI2.1, 120Hz), Currently I can only find the Eve Spectrum that is capable of this but reluctant with their track record to make a purchase...
I use a c port with this monitor, although I don't use Apple products since it hinders my work, with that being said, works perfectly with my Computer and windows 11 is so awesome on this thing. Anyways C-port works really well
what main monitor do u have
What speakers are those?
It deserves a design award. I could stare at it for days.
Look Apple the adjustable stand / monitor arm is included 😳🫣
Getting this for my Mac studio for photography work
At $699, you are basically paying for the monitor arm. However, I’m highly considering the possibility of picking one up as a secondary unit
Man it's a beautiful bro! The arm is amazing too
Interesting that you code the website; do you prefer to do this rather than building visually with blocks?
Manually writing the code gives you 100% control. Building visually usually ends up with very messy code that’s difficult to maintain.
If you have the option (you know programming) is better/faster/less limited to write it yourself (and it’s more fun usually)
you can get a better higher resolution monitor that will be similar width but rotated and providing more real estate for less money it seems silly
after installing BetterDisplay my cpu temp is always at 60ºC anyone here experimenting the same?
Would you consider using it as your primary screen (with any second screen attached) and sharing your thoughts in a couple of weeks? I imagine most of your subscribers (myself included) would run it solo. Great video as always.
I do. I bought two of these and have them side by side as my primary setup. It’s fantastic!
@@diegorenevelasquez Lol that's dumb. Might as well buy a single 48 or 43 inch monitor...
@@williamwong83 ?
thats a really nice t-shirt
which other usb C monitors would you recommend?
I have the Dell U2720q, 4k and usbc 90w pd. Has usb hub built in too so true 1 cable
good,不错
When I unboxed my dualup, I’m pretty sure a babadook came out. It’s been in the closet ever since. Freaking the dog out. Is this normal?
that EZ PZ lol 😂
this screen is perfect for web browsing .... wide displays are really bad for web pages ... it doesnt harness width advantage of wide displays ...
Where did you find the photo on the wall of the airplane seats?
I took it myself :)
@@Oliur It's a great shot! Do you sell your photography online? Would put that in my office in a heartbeat.
Thank you! I don’t sell my photography online at the moment. But I’ll consider it. I’d be happy to send you this picture if you’d like it, just for being kind. Email me through my contact email on my channel.
i1 love this video mucho suport
So minimal
The screen works fine with my Mac Mini M1
fk I want it so badly but its so expensive
The scaling problem is an Apple issue and not the fault of the monitor
👍🏽
"I don't know what they are doing with Macbook's displays the white is so white...."
Dude have you heard of colorimeters? And Calibration and color validation software? Buy one and see if your macbooks whitepoint is on point or not...
