Really appreciate you doing these videos. I think a lot of gamers don't realize the complexity of today's AAA games. The amount of planning and work needed for something that will probably be skimmed over during game play, yet is expected from the immersion point of view, is often very underappreciated.
Yeah GTA 5 and RDR 2 have so many little details that blow you're mind but are very easy to miss like Engines clicking after being on and parking, flip flops flip flop, water actually will get whatever part of the body in the water wet, Arthur Morgan's eyes getting used to the light when exiting a interior, snow build up on clothes etc you wanna see a lot of these details in games may I suggest watching a RUclipsr named •Knightz•
Do we really need that level of detail in our games though? Shouldn't that level of care/development/money rather be spent on the core gameplay, that is often so bland in all these AAA games it hurts. What does shrinking horse ballz in RDR2 and animated flip flops in GTA V actually add to my gameplay? Nothing. Where instead they could add for instance a manual transmission option to their cars (driving-a core gameplay activity you do 70% of time in that game) that would add some MEANINGFUL detail and complexity to their gameplay. (Also something the community has been asking for for a long time now, but no, CPU power is better spent on animated flip flops. Nobody ever asked for animated flip flops.) What do beautiful state of the art motion capture animations really count for, when it results in that lady at 53:41 running around like a headless chicken towards the danger rather than away from it, cause the AI is dumb as shlt.
The Walking The Walk series is my favorite. In-depth and decently paced, it’s perfect. Also the voice-over work is great, and it all comes together to create a video that might just eclipse the already fantastic review. Thank you so much Karak!
37:00 "What happens in Assassins Creed: Odyssey is that they chose to have dedsec go through the hero's journey." Huh, interesting direction they're taking the series, but compelling nonetheless.
Definitely agree, it has some problems but it’s a solid game. It would’ve been easy for the devs to make recruitment missions really basic fetch quests but every one I’ve played so far always has at least 2 twists which is pretty insane for how many recruitment missions there are

Hey Karak, Your ‘walking the walk’ vids are brilliant. Out of all honesty, I can’t think of anything else that you could include within these vids, they’re all very in depth, and for me, makes me look at a game with a new perspective, which in turn makes me appreciate a game that little bit more. Keep up the good work! It’s great to see someone do such in-depth videos, who can add character, humour and analysis to the commentary.
Ubisoft style games get a lot of slack but they make really iterative changes to the open world formula. it feels awesome to take any NPC and play as them. Almost a reverse Nemesis system
One thing that really bugs my OCD is clipping. Hair clipping through glasses, backpack straps through jackets and shirts, doctors badges/lanyards hovering about an inch or two over their shoulders. I get that theres alotta characters and clothes to make match but these things always catch my eye.
I just started playing through this and I love the fact that there isn't a predefined main protagonist, probably the first game I've played where this is a thing and I think it's great.
Being from London it is honestly remarkable, one of the best, maybe the best representation of the city ive seen. A city that is normally not shown well, the humour, the personality and diversity of London
I am really amazed every time Ubisoft releases a game, probably the gameplay is repetitive, game design is not original or the graphics are not great BUT the technical activamente they made on every game release are amazing. As games some time we do not appresiate the technical activamente a game made.
I will say , this game looks gorgeous and smooth, I haven’t played the first iterations, but I’ll definitely pick this one up, being a Londoner and all 👌🏽
I’m really hoping this game is sort of a AC1, where UBI takes this model to a level beyond expectations. I think there’s certainly something impressive here, but there’s far more that can be done.

The cup reminded me of a mind-blowing moment I had while replaying GTA IV earlier this year. I saw someone rolling down his car window and throw a cup on to the street! GTA IV in general had so many of these insane little moments that I totally forgot about. The game still looks pretty darn good when you crank everything to max in 4k. Definitely worth a replay in 2020!
I always love the feeling of sonder that Watch Dogs gives, and I like how you went into the way this game takes that sense of "others having lives" in this video. The feeling of Sonder is the big USP of this game, and a lot of people seem to overlook that. Heck, the first game was known for having players "profiling" civillians before punching them. You can't say that of GTA or Saint's Row. Even the WItcher games don't have that kind of random NPC development at a macro level.
Top man as usual, i get more out of a game when you do walking the walk than an actual review, you are the only youtuber i've subbed to, always a pleasure.
the first 2 minutes of the video showing the rainy london roads remind me so much of the rainy london roads from my last 6 years. Not enjoyable to walk in real life after the 1st month..
Two gripes with this game at the moment. Firstly the bugs. There are just too many, but I'm sure they'll be taken care of with patches. The other issue is how the relation system is only on paper, it does not show in game at all. I had my operative try to recruit his friend and the conversation was literally started with "You don't know me...." "Wait you're DedSec right?". Great friends, right?
@James Gratz First cutscene I had in the bar, a scooter came flying through the door and hit the guy I was recruiting. Our heads then simultaneously 360 flipped and ended up in our shoulders, rest of the conversation was hard to follow (I was laughing uncontrollably at this point). The annoying bugs I have are the gameplay related. AI being idiots basically, the most prominent one being civilians literally jumping in front of my car from the sidewalk whenever I go at higher speeds.
Well that alone would require Twice as much dialogue (or maybe even more than 2X) because you would have to have special dialogue for co-workers, family, friends, lovers, etc. It would be much cooler if they did recognize each other, you’re right about that, but it would’ve been a whole lot more time, money, and work for Ubisoft to add that extra layer of complexity.
@@lakerfan0243 Then maybe they should have gone for something else with the relations system? If it's a deliberate choice to have friends not recognize each other in any way because of constraints in assets and time , that's even worse.
The cool thing is the npc systems will be improved in the future. I can't imagine how they will implement it in future games. Open world driving games like gta could have named npc's in the future like open world rpg's and not some randomly generated characters.
I always watch all of these, every minute as I think they're great and I appreciate the work you put into making them. It's even better when it's a game or franchise I like. Whatever faults Ubisoft has, their open worlds are usually worth a good explore. Cheers Karak.
@36:58 i laughed hard when he called this game Assassin's Creed Odyssey :D And yeah, i think not being able to enter buildings sucks in most games...like RDR2, you can enter like 1/3 of the buildings, it's sad that you can't pick the locks and go inside every building :(
I love these walk in the walks man. It’s amazing the things you point out that change my entire perspective on the games. Details that I wonder about you explain very thoroughly. Quite frankly, we need more of them! Thank you! Could you maybe do one for Watch Dogs 2? I feel that world is very heavily underrated.
The game world looks great in most places but then the character gets out the taxi & it all falls apart. The character models just don't match the world & it looks so off
what it looks like is the characters are on green screen....the world is hyper realistic...but the characters have a kinda stylize look to them so it looks like they don't belong....its like RT has made the gameworld too realistic....and the character models dont match it
I love this game, all the little details and the unique stories I’ve created myself by “investigating” the daily life and relationships of individual NPCs to track, yet, other NPCs.
Great video, mate! You pointed out very interesting stuff. I was stunned when I noticed the length of this video - it did not feel nearly as long as it actually was, thanks to its topic. Two green thumbs up! 😉
I really enjoy these videos. I cannot tell you how many times I have bought or replayed a game after watching them. Personally, I am having a blast in WD Legion. Sure it has some issues, but I can walk around for hours just looking at the people and skill sets popping up. Hell, I've spent 30 minutes straight just hovering on a construction bot while messing with the people in a busy intersection. It's a good time, just like these videos.
This game is revolutionary, just not the finished product yet! They're on the right path though. Most people who say they don't like the look have probably never been to London.
I really enjoy these videos. Not only as a more in depth look at internal systems and mechanics but because you have a particular way with words that totally justifys the run time of these WTW videos. Love your stuff man, have been around since you were the Angry Centaur lol. Keep it up!
Yes I absolutely love these videos. I don't think you need to add anything I think they're perfect. One of my favorite things you do actually. Keep up the good work.
This tech is pretty incredible. I honestly am loving this game, so it's nice to see people bring out the positives instead of the for some reason impulsive negativity people have, for whatever reason, brought to it.
Thanks for another walkin the walk video. What I like about these vid, is that you explore the systems that are implemented to create a living breathing world. It is not a game review, it is more design philosophy, which I find fascinating. I also hope this game serves as a building block for ubisofts world building strategies, there are alot of amazing details in this game.
I really appreciate you going into crazy detail about the systems in this game. You having dev consults is pretty cool as well! I’m playing the game on the Xbox one x and there are unfortunately a lot of performance issues and visual glitches, but they don’t detract too much from my enjoyment. I can’t stop recruiting! The deep analysis skill (forgot its name) is a must if you like recruiting and want to get those thumbs down NPCs.
I really enjoy these videos! I know they take more effort than maybe their worth, but I always sit throughout the entire thing and learn a lot. Thanks!
This game is revolutionary, just not the finished product yet! They're on the right path though. Most people who say they don't like the look have probably never been to London. The game is not perfect, it's a stepping stone for the direction they might be heading, there's a lot of things that have to be polished. Adding a story to every character is a daunting task, but it'll elevate the series. Adding a few more emotional scenes and having the ability to delve into the personal lives of each character will totally make this series one of the best. Arranging the story and side quests better, so they feel like a journey rather than some work you have to do will also be really nice. More attention to detail and Watch Dogs might just be one of the greatest games ever! No jokes!
Thanks for this. I just gave the game a try during the free trial this weekend--and I had this dual-track reaction. I was totally impressed by the systems, but at least in the 6 or 7 hours I played it, I didn't feel any momentum in the game. I was fascinated by the *how* it works, but I couldn't get invested in any of the characters or their goals. All the game dialog felt transactional. There were no individual quirks or humor--in fact the only character who had any identifiable personality was Bagley the AI. It reminded me of Wendy Carlos's first album where she was playing with alternative tunings vs. her second. The first is interesting technically, as she learns how these alternative tunings work. But the second time she worked with them, the results were more *musically* interesting. This was like Carlos first alternative tunings album, and I look forward to seeing how these systems get used in a more interesting story--and I think that better hardware may be helpful.
Your walk the walks are so awesome as well as all of your reviews. I forget to like most of them as I'm sure thousands of others probably do. Made sure I left a like this time Karak... You fuckin rock, thanks for your fuckin hard work....
bombastic jajajajajaja the breakdown of games like this makes game more fun to watch . sometimes devs want to implement new idea and game play , but they are limited by Vram , ddr4 , cores , they also have to sell to the masses to make their money back. is a really intriguing situation , is not just shooting from the hip and say lets make this game and do this , lets get it done ! lol
I'm gonna hold off on this rn.. But I loved two. Beat the entire campaign barely using the lethal weapons. But my backlog is too long to add another time sync.
Love this format. It has helped me to appreciate game worlds more and to be more perceptive in them. It would be really cool if you could get people from development teams to talk about the decisions and thought processes that led to these worlds being what they are.
I've been really enjoying this game. The only downside is the performance for me. With an i7-7700k, 32gb RAM and a 2080ti, performance is mediocre at best even with RTX off. DLSS hasn't really even made my performance better either.
Dude on PS4 its struggling. Frame rate issues. Audio issues ( when dialogue is being spoke, if im moving about it stutters and goes out of sync its horrible!). Then a crash when i quit. Need to wait until they patch it up more and its stable before it can be enjoyed...

This has been awesome thanks. I do love the little details like how the AI react to wrecks like the one you showed calling the insurance company. WD games have done well at that imo especially Legion.
A "Walking the Walk" video that starts off with Karak driving a vehicle. Yep, it's typical 2020. lol! Even though I'm not exactly interested in playing Watch Dogs Legion, I still enjoyed watching this video. Then, again I've always enjoyed the "Walking the Walk" videos in general and I always find them to be detailed and informative as well. I've noticed something when it comes to Legion and it's a major downside. London is quite barren and almost lifeless at times, which makes no sense whatsoever, especially for an open world video game. The original Watch Dogs and Watch Dogs 2 had more civilians and their respective worlds felt more alive when compared to Legion. "Walking the Walk" videos tend to lean towards the immersive aspect of video games instead of the actual gameplay. It's a nice change of pace that allows for a more relaxing and calming experience as a result. Otherwise, thanks once again Karak for the great video. I always appreciate the high quality content. The continued hard work means a lot. Keep it up!

I was just thinking, wow, I don't remember the game looking this go.. *character exits taxi*
ahh, there it is.
They just don't fit.
I love this game, all the little details and the unique stories I’ve created myself by “investigating” the daily life and relationships of individual NPCs to track, yet, other NPCs.
I do believe you have convinced me.
Love these Walking the Walk videos
I walked across the entire map from the southwest to the northeast. It takes an hour and 4 minutes :)
It's a good time, just like these videos.
great video as always man. We know we can count on ya.
Keep it up!
These are my favorite videos on RUclips!!!!! Thank you for these Karak
Yes I absolutely love these videos. I don't think you need to add anything I think they're perfect. One of my favorite things you do actually. Keep up the good work.
I’m getting two different vibes from the thumbnail;
Either Garrick is about to sneeze or hard-jamming to a meatloaf song 😂
Honestly 10 hours in I’m very immersed in this game. Also permadeath is a must!
Great game. Having a blast with it. At first it felt a little too similar to WD2, but quickly became even more fun.
You're not wrong. Civvies keep their military rigs when running in plainclothes.
I really enjoy these videos! I know they take more effort than maybe their worth, but I always sit throughout the entire thing and learn a lot. Thanks!
I watched the whole damn thing. Well, mainly listened, but that still counts.
Thanks for doing these long form discussions. I always enjoy learning more about game design and seeing things that we as gamers gloss over so easily.
This was like Carlos first alternative tunings album, and I look forward to seeing how these systems get used in a more interesting story--and I think that better hardware may be helpful.
here we goooo. after pestering you numerous times on twitter. Finally we're getting these again ❤️
Awesome video always nice to hear your opinion and the extra mile you go to get no bs info
You the man Karak, thanks for doing another Walking the walk, I love this series!
The star of this game is def the city, it looks so detailed
Your walk the walks are so awesome as well as all of your reviews. I forget to like most of them as I'm sure thousands of others probably do. Made sure I left a like this time Karak... You fuckin rock, thanks for your fuckin hard work....
Does any character have the skill of being able to sit? Or will it take another generation until developers implement this?
thank you for this. Truly amazing, isn't it
I gave up on that hope long ago. Although it would make perfect sense to add it as a way to blend in for the upcoming invasion mode.
bombastic
jajajajajaja
the breakdown of games like this makes game more fun to watch . sometimes devs want to implement new idea and game play , but they are limited by Vram , ddr4 , cores , they also have to sell to the masses to make their money back. is a really intriguing situation , is not just shooting from the hip and say lets make this game and do this , lets get it done ! lol
the only reason i bought this game is because Cyberpunk got delayed..and you know what? i am glad i got it. i am having so much fun playing this
I noticed same voice actor on 2 characters after like 3 recruits, recuiter and new member had the same voice.
Tbh this gave me more interest in the game than any review I've seen including the acg review lol
#Legion. Got your back bro, I watch all your videos. You put a ton of work into each of them. Thanks for your time & efforts.
Ill wait for this game to go on sale in 6 months. Not paying full price for microtransactions and cut features upon release.
I LOVE these videos. Very rare and valuable on RUclips
they really got the tone, colour lighting right - i grew up in london - makes me want to hop on a plane and play there as i’m walking around!
@@kc-me6wl If you had a PC with the specs of the PS4 it probably wouldn't run at all. I didn't purchase it on PC because my i5 2500 is below minimum system requirements.
@@spawncap9009 insane how far games are coming... especially this last gen console of games...
Walking the Walks are why I subscribe, I love these analyses!
Great Video. This looks like the type of experiment I thought it would be. I will be on the lookout for more of these types of videos. Very interesting!
I love these walking the walk videos. Heck this game is so massive you could probably do a part two!
Let's all take time to laugh at the comedy gold that was your thumbnail mate! Great job karak! Cracking me like always
I feel like Ive played the game after your videos man thanks for the extensive coverage, you're a mind reader!
I tried to rescue a man from Albion and the second I hacked the mercenaries phone the man I thought I needed to be rescued slammed the hapless dude on his head. Turns out he was a former mi6 agent and clearly didn't need my help.
I really appreciate your WTW content. I like viewing games in that way when I play. But still you point out things that I may have missed. Thanks
The ending and your reaction at the end with the cars WAS Hilarious!
having a superhero kind of game with this system would be really cool. And would be great to see a Ubisoft take on an open world superhero game.
Man, I understand your critique of this but this kind of exploration looks awesome to me, personally. This was a cool video, good information; hybrid lets play/review/tech demo. Nice job!
DAMN the visuals look so GOOD (especially with rain of course) Even on the Pro and One X. Honestly huge props to the artists work designing London. This is actually lowkey making me regret choosing to preorder Valhalla over Legion.
You give so much detail bro and I love it!! Definitely subscribe. I love the walk to walk too.
This has been awesome thanks. I do love the little details like how the AI react to wrecks like the one you showed calling the insurance company. WD games have done well at that imo especially Legion.
Yesss I was hoping for this!!! Thanks man
A "Walking the Walk" video that starts off with Karak driving a vehicle. Keep it up!
I’m Sax player and I played on streets before I get all those things except getting beaten up yet hopefully it will only happen in the game but for sure I will Recruit him as soon as I find him in the game
Not only was the police sergeant running away, but the Ambulance nearby is also connected too.
As a game art educator I can say there is a lot that aspiring game artists can learn from this game
The homeless in this game just need to rise up almost every single one of them I come across as a shotgun or an assault rifle!
Right??? I just across a homeless with the hypercar in this game 😂
I adore these analysis of video games. I work in the industry, in the art dept, and these are excellent angles on the elements that go into development.
Ah yes, the moving cups on the street. I remember seeing them in Watch Dogs 1 and they blew my mind. Sometimes I just followed on for minutes, until they got stuck on some object :D
