Every musician and singer over the past 50 years seems to have covered at least one Beatles song, a few may have been of comparable quality but none "truly" did it better. If musicians and singers can't release a version that exceeds the original then they should move on to a song they can, better yet release a song that other's can't quite do better themselves. 🎼
