Her diction is really unique and I think she engineers the mics to really pick it up. Ds And Ts are so distinct. It makes me feel like she’s singing just to me, quietly in my ear.
Eleanor Rigby was one of the first songs I taught myself when I began learning guitar in 1966. I am certain that I never got it right way back then, I must revisit one day. In any case this is the most hauntingly beautiful rendition of the song that I have ever heard. BRAVO!!!!
Just lovely and delicate. I was a child when the original came out, and this is an incredible version. I believe pretty much any Beatles fan would wholeheartedly agree.
Came to watch the video bc I love this song, didn't see it was dodie. When she sang the first note I recognized her and couldn't be happier. What a beautiful version of this masterpiece!
perfect song for this singer! Dodie has that haunting, melancholic voice that's a perfect fit for "Eleanor Rigby" I wouldn't be surprised if Sir Paul McCartney himself gives her a thumbs up.
This was a lovely cover. Even with the own personal take on it is had faithfulness to the tone of the song. I had an urge to listen to Beatles as I haven't listened to them in decades. Then I decided I want to hear some covers. This was faithful enough to make it ring well for me, but also have enough personal take that made it a great cover.
what an amazing version of this song -- it really brings out the heartbreak and sadness that was no doubt in the original but there's something about your vocals and this stripped down version that is so emotional and touching
The transition at 0:48 is very challenging, but a great idea. You're pulled out of the reverberant open feeling into a very dry and intimate setting. Overall wonderful performance and arrangement of a brilliant song.
I respect the stripped back stuff but this song should NEVER be without those cellos in the original. Literally makes the whole song. Lovely voice though. Respect from Brazil 🇧🇷

AhHHHhhh what a delight to jam with u all !
this song was made for your voice 💖
As I saw the thumbnail I was thinking "That girl looks really like dodie" and yeah... it IS you! Makes me smile!
Hi, you'll never see this but I hope to meet and jam with you someday :)
Could you please sing the beginning to Billie Eilish's Happier than ever? I need your voice and the uke. I sing it the way I'd imagine you would.
stunning as always dodie
whenever dodie covers a Beatles song you know it’s gonna be magical
Her Golden slumbers cover is still my favourite version of that song. This might have to join that list
I just discovered her THE PAST WEEK 💜🤘💜😘😘 I’m beyond blown away and the Kate Bush influence in dodie is SO BLOODY OBVIOUS 😆💜🤘
@@johnIZaUWL oh to be able to discover dodie again :’)
couldn't agree more 👏
will need to look for other dodie beatle's covers!!!!
Dodie's voice has that finesse yet is always very impactful the way she delivers her lines and definitely makes you feel every lyric she's singing.
Her diction is really unique and I think she engineers the mics to really pick it up. Ds And Ts are so distinct. It makes me feel like she’s singing just to me, quietly in my ear.
Great command of the lyric on this one. Wonderful version.
Obviously Dodie sounds amazing here, but this whole soundscape is like a hug for my ears. The drums especially fit the feeling so well.
Dodie would have been a great jazz singer back in the day. Such great expressiveness with a quiet control that you just don’t see anymore.
You know, I never thought about it before, but you're right. She has great timing and phrasing. Never forced, often laid back, but always natural.
Eleanor Rigby is such a dreamy, angsty, soulful song.
What a great take on a timeless piece of music.
Dodie is always so... there. Her presence and emotion is so perfect with her gorgeous voice. Love this!
dodie combined with the beatles?? are you KIDDING ME??? this is PERFECT, what the actual hell
Seen her rendition of Golden Slumbers? It's a good 'un!
@@JivanPal i have!! all her beatles covers are just dreamy
@Oblivion been there, done that. dodie is my favourite artist and jacob is up there too, so you can assume i've seen all their beatles covers hahaha

Dodie's here, yess! Been following both Dodie and stories for a while now, nice when the musical legends of youtube combine their talents.
Just lovely and delicate. I was a child when the original came out, and this is an incredible version. I believe pretty much any Beatles fan would wholeheartedly agree.
The lyrics still apply... unbelievable.

I never realized until now how Dodie’s voice fits this song perfectlyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
I got chills listening to this cover. Her voice, emotion, she's blessed. She made me tear up.
Ryan and George, I can't believe how you squeezed these sounds out of acoustic guitars :D
This is hauntingly beautiful. I've replayed it countless times. Great job!

Dodie just reminded me how much I love this song. What a beautiful cover, the instrumentals are beautiful, especially those guitars wow
Dodie is really growing into their lower register! Like butter ✨
Butter grows?
@@michaelnorris2522 smooth like butter:)
Their?
@@jeremysmith9694 dodie uses she/they pronouns

Dodie your voice grows with everything you do. Wonderful.
this is such an amazing cover. you really get to hear the emotion in the lyrics
Dodie is a perfect fit with stories!
2:03 I don't think I've ever heard a better use of rivets! Typical stories, subtle but brilliant.
This channel never ceases to surprise me! A true tribute to one of the best bands the world has seen.
perfect song for this singer! Dodie has that haunting, melancholic voice that's a perfect fit for "Eleanor Rigby" I wouldn't be surprised if Sir Paul McCartney himself gives her a thumbs up.
It's amazing to me how well this works in 2 when we are so accustomed to hearing it in 4. Great arrangement, and beautiful singing!
what's the difference, really?
This is my favorite version of this song. You, your voice, and this song - perfect.
Incredible arrangement and the mix is SO good.

This Beatles song and Blackbird is what made me a Beatles Fan - Such a deep song

You've really captured the heart of this song. I can't stop listening. Thank you!

eleanor rigby is one of my favourite beatles' song and i feel like doodie captured its essence in greatness here
Masterful arrangement beautifully sung and performed. So good . . .
.
Beautiful - and very sensitively done!
I love this. I think the song is so ubiquitous it's easy to forget how desolate and sad the lyrics are, this version brings that out.
Maybe the best cover ever made.
BEAUTIFUL COVER. would love if this was on spotify
Man I just stumbled on all these great videos - talk about a nice playlist to listen to on a nice Sunday evening throughout the house on my Sonos
that cut to total silence at 0:48! incredible

Anybody knows if this is available on Apple Music? Or even in Spotify? Can’t seem to find it yet.
I would buy a collection of stories' covers on vinyl, if you ever press one. I love all of these covers.
Love this cover so much.
This is magical! Thanks for blessing us dodie and band
Those classical riffs adds some nice *flavour* 👌🏻
Quite an apt choice of song given this post-covid isolationist mindset many have now. Lovely arrangement too.
