Super Megatron probably was not the inspiration for Movie Megatron, but he definitely was the inspiration for Animated Megatron. Just look at his funny judge wig head!

@@masterfarr8265 Ayup, but his earthmode design was pretty clearly pulling from Battlestars. Optimus had some in there too, especially the chest windows.

Well Last Knight Megatron def has the Dark Nova Megatron alt face that Gen Selects Megatron has.

Animated Megatron's robot mode design is loosely inspired by Super Megatron because Derrick J Wyatt is a hardcore nerd himself.

@@HBRice17 I think that face was inspired by TLK and didn't show up in the manga but I wouldn't know, I've never read it. I suppose we could ask mr. smartypants wolfclaw719 one comment up.

@@BurninNomander "Shin" is generally used as a linguistic appellation. Depending on the Kanji, it can mean "True", "New", "God," etc. The joke is that Super is also an appellation and they are often used in similar ways. And also that Super Megatron has big shins.

I thought about explaining the chest flip and face flip, and then I remembered this figure is meant to be absurdity cubed and decided that was a good enough explanation.
I said TR Galvatron had potential and was going to be retooled into something good, no one believed me... LOOK WHOS LAUGHING NOW!
Personally, I never hated TR Galavatron. Like, if I could have one with a retooled head to get rid of the gimmick that'd be even better, but otherwise I'm proud to to include him in my collection.
Straight up, this figure was amazing imo. It might not have like.... "incredibly accurate alt modes" or whatever, but it's just a big dumb sack of fun, and isn't that what toys are about?
This is a great thing to wake up and watch on my birthday. Best gift ever Thew!

oddly enough I actually know this obscure fact, the alternate chest and head, with the wings extended and fusion cannon transformed a different way are to make him into Ultra Megatron, the form he took after this form.

I was hoping this Megatron was gonna make it into a monthly. My personal fave Megatron ever since I got it.
You have to pick up the upgrade kits, they make this already excellent mold near perfect.
This is one of those toys that in no way appeals to me personally whatsoever, but at the same time, I am really happy knowing that it exists out there in the world for Transformers fans to enjoy.
actually Thew I recently picked up the official translation of the TF manga which features this incarnation of Megatron so by the arbitrary rules of youtube comments I get to act smug and superior about knowing a completely pointless fact that you said i wouldn't for a few minutes before a spam-bot using a name similar to yours tries to sell me bitcoin.

The tragedy of TR Galvatron, one has an iffy robot mode with two great alt modes, and the other has a fantastic robot mode with two nonsense alt modes
I thought he was gonna say "Leg-atron."
I love how the only thing the upgrade kit added that substantially improved this toy was a little assembly to hide the hands in the arms a bit better. Everything else was gap fillers which may or may not be necessary depending on your taste.

When this figure announced, my first thought was how this is what Movie 1 Megatron should’ve been. He transforms into a weird cyber spacecraft thing but he still actually looks like Megatron

-Love this figure, he's awesome. Tank mode is kind of weak. But his robot and jet modes are great.

I get to flex with my obscure Transformers lore knowledge on the account of Star Convoy being literally the first Transformers toy I bought as a collector, plus the big Japanese collection of all the G1 manga being one of my earliest purchases as well.

His head sculpt reminds me of animated Megatron and his reversed face reminds me of the last knight Megatron, his spaceship mode reminds me of movie 1 Megatron and his tank mode reminds me of revenge of the fallen Megatron. He’s pulling em all off today, innit?

The alternate chest, face and forehead are for the mid-season upgrade the Super Megatron had.
Only reason i know that is cos it was pointed out in other reviews of this figure.
Also the dark face reminds me of The Last Knight Megaron with the face horns.

It is supposed to be a retool of Titan's Return Galvatron but they only reused the arms and legs and relocating the tank threads. Head, torso and everything else is completely new, it's not like the Combiner Wars retools where they only changed the heads and the colorss.
The tank mode looks better closing the legs, the feet end forming a battering ram.
The jet mode make more sense with the threads downwards, turning into landing gear.
Super Megatron could pass as fusion of G1 Megatron and Cinematic Megatron.
But yeah, I'm impressed how Takara über retooled TR Galvatron mold to make this hella version of Megatron that has lacked plastic presence.
Heck, I'm even surprised that no 3P version of this Megatron was never made.
well there is technically the battle mode where you do something with the canon and flip the face around which is also I belive where the torso flip comes into play but ya know. not every con can be an animated longarm/shockwave.

Super Megatron was supposed to be the inspiration for S4 Animated Marauder Megatron
The chest swap & face swap are for the powered up Ultra Megatron mode. You also split open the cannon and a couple other things. (And that wack tank mode is the alt mode for Ultra Megatron, too...)
Personally, I really want this figure. It works for my head-canon I'm working on. Basically, it goes Siege Tank Megatron to United Gun Megatron to Generation Selects Super Megatron. Just something I've been thinking up for a while.
Update: As of last year, I got this figure in my collection now! I had to pay $116 for him off of ebay, but at least I finally got him! Also, to add to the awesomeness of Super Megatron, I got him a Dr Wu Asura Sword, which is a BIG-ASS sword based on the sword accessory that came with the Japanese version of the original G1 Megatron toy! On top of that I also figured out you can sit him in SS86 Starscream's throne! So, I got him sitting there, holding the sword, looking like Conan the Barbarian at the end of the Arnold Schwarzenegger movies! Love it!
This is my definitive Megatron for my collection; don't care about the place its from I just love the design! I wish it wasn't an exclusive because imagine being a kid and seeing this in a store.

I am pretty certain your supposed to open the main canon, put in the 3 barrelled gun and then switch the mask and torso, to make it into like a more powerful megatron
I'll admit I had no idea who Super Megatron was. I honestly thought, when I first saw the figure, that this was some Megatron designed by some artist type. like those Square Enix Batmans and the like. Where they're all a bit over the top and silly in a way where it feels like the designer didn't know when to stop designing. Gawd I want it.

Looking especially handsome in this one king, this is an all-timer. I’ve been waiting all week for this and it didn’t disappoint! I prefer the ‘suped-up planet-smashing maniac’ Megatrons to the more serious or nuanced portrayals of him, and this absolutely did justice to that kind of energy.
This looks good. Might consider getting this one day.

i was able to get this when it showed up on hasbro pulses back in stock section and i'm glad i didnt miss out. because i got this i had to get do the preorder for starconvoy at bbts and good thing i did, the next day it was sold out.
It's never made me laugh before, but for some reason this time the single utterance of 'groink' made me bust my guts laughing
Super Megs doesn't even get the full obscure Japanese manga props. There was like one full manga Battle Stars story, but Super Megs (if I'm not mistaken) only appeared in the really sad two page TV Magazine spreads when Transformers in Japan was in its death rattles. He only saw slightly more pages than the even less hyped Operation: Combination which focused on *ugh* Micromaster combiners.
