This technique is so cool!!! I've seen it before, but I forgot about it. And it wasn't as pretty as yours!!! I definitely will do this. Its very unique!!! Perfect for journals! TFS Austin,TX USA
All I could think of when I saw the textures was how neat it would to be to emboss sheets of tin to use on ceilings and how neat those papers would be to make cards or use in junk journals... Really enjoyed your video...
I am thinking if you used sandwiched the wax paper between two pieces of card stock, put the copy paper on top, and then ironed, you could get twice as many pieces. Also, as I was watching, I was thinking the strip might be from one roller in your die cut machine not pushing as hard as the others. Just an idea. I know every machine is different and most of them have more pressure in some spots than other spots. Either way, thank you for your time to do this video! I appreciate you sharing your talent!
Gotpaintinmyhair - First - I would like to say, "Happy Holidays!!! To you and yours!!!" Second - "Thank you!!!", this video is awesome! Beautiful work! Your instructions are extremely clear, leaving no doubt on the "how" parts, and you didn't even speak a word! I'm kinda with the majority though, on the whole "music debacle", that is ;) That's the only thing I think that could make this video better than it already is - a voice-over of the steps, other than that this video couldn't get any better - it's perfect!!! So thank you for that! I'm a "newbie" in this exciting, amazing, beautiful, fun, relaxing and gigantic world of Arts and Crafts, so I need "step-by-step" instructions on things. You know, like "How to make a ... for Dummies", type instructions. You achieved that to me, and I'm grateful for you! I do have one question though, please. I see you are using ink, different types, but is this the only thing that can be used? To add the color? Would this work with acrylic paints? Tempera paints? (I still don't know what that means, or how it actually differs from acrylic paint, even though I have spent countless hours Googling to try to understand it). Basically any kind of paint. Or is a type of 'ink" - specifically ink - the only way? I look forward to any, and all, information you can give me, and I am thankful for your help, the time you have given me, and this awesome project video!!! I can't wait to dive in, head first, and give it a shot!!! Happy Holidays to you and yours!!!
Happy Christmas to you and yours too! I do plan to re make some of these old videos next year with voice overs now I know how to do it haha! This particular technique is an ink only one I am afraid, any dye or water based ink will work, dye based works best. Tempera paint is student grade acrylic, you can blend and colour mix, so its a step up from £1 a bottle/kinds paint and is a step down from artist grade £10 a bottle paint. But it is just acrylic paint and probably what you have already.
Just wondering why most of the pieces showed like a 1" pale swath of less color horizontally across the piece? It's like there was a 1" part across the piece that didn't take much color. I agree with the others...creepy music. But I love the effect that your process created!
This is so cool, beautiful idea and very well presented. Is it weird though that i'm really loving your dinky little iron? I want one of those. :-) Love your work hun. xxx
Or - did you use something that would of left a residue on your machine's upper roller? I once discovered a thin strip of glue got on mine after some 'missed' spots appeared.
Good suggestion but the encaustic card didn't go through the cutting machine, it does it randomly in the same place on several sheets so I think it is a flaw in the paper. Its almost gone that lot now, only taken 4 years to use it all up LOL!
Interesting, never saw this before. They could be cut out for mixed media projects...not sure what else these might be useful on? Any ideas... for all the work? Maybe cut up and made into Paper Mosaics? Or cut out and put on Light Switch plates to dress them up? Yes...the music is annoying, I had to turn it off because it was so repetitive :-/ Most video artists don't seem to understand the Music is suppose to be background...like in movies...You barely hear it, it's subtle. haha
+Juliana Leo I used them as backgrounds mainly, but I haven't made one since I did the video, it is almost 3 years old now........ I do voice overs rather than subtitles instead these days.
+Gotpaintinmyhair It was a good video, I'm always afraid I'll miss something if I turn the sound off..LOL I'm an Eye and Ear person... Love watching, and love listening ...but it's twice as much work to do both at the same time. HAHAHAHA Cause of being a musician. And an ARtist, I love seeing to learn. Heck, I can't even play music while I sleep...I'll never sleep!!!
Hiyah, thanks for watching. Their is a white line because of a flaw in the card stock used, that wont happen to you. Never treid it with a sponge so if it works let me know! Just be sure to use glossy card or encaustic art card.
Are your art card glossy (before ironing on the wax paper)? It looks shiny. What causes the white stipes about 2/3rds down the card? Thank you so much for such a beautiful tutorial!
Melissa Edwards HI Melissa, I got behind on this series I need to pick it back up! I use Encaustic Art card, it is shiny but it is made so it does not melt when heat is added, so perfect for this technique. I am not entirely sure what caused the stripe , its almost a perfect stripe and in the same place on all pieces so I can only guess that the piece of card had a flaw in it.
What embossing folder is that? I have never tried this technique before and now I need to see if I have double sided wax paper! Thanks for sharing! Also is that glossy paper you are using? couldn't really see the package itself!
Glad you enjoyed it. The card stock is glossy card that will take heat, I use encaustic art card. The embossing folder is Couture Creations, I dont remember the name of it, its one of the first release.
thanks for watching! sorry for the late comments, I just got notified of a load of comments I never received! It is encaustic art card so its glossy but it takes heat so you can fast dry things.
+Mama K yeaaaa it is a bit creepy isn't it LOL Didn't notice till you pointed it out! I shall be deleting that one from my library or re categorising it as a Halloween song!
Mama K Haha now I'm thinking creepy music lol didn’t notice it either til you said something! I was actually enjoying it cuz my baby was falling asleep next to me 😂
Gotpaintinmyhair I happen to think it's beautiful, please don't change it. It's a nice refreshing change from the crappy pseudo techno electronic generic music in every other DIY video. My only suggestion would be to actually explain what you are doing as you are doing it, I find those videos a lot easier to follow than the ones with no one speaking. I usually end up subscribing to the channels that have someone speaking through out it if their product turns out well. You did beautiful work, keep it up! My only question is you seem to have already had paper that had a pattern on it, did you create that yourself or purchase it? I'm new to alcohol inks and a little guidance on this would be much appreciated. Thanks!
I'm a visual learner myself, but I can't follow this. It's me, not you. Just what was that envelope thing you used to emboss? I honestly prefer demos where the person shows the technique rather than ones who never stop talking, lol, but I'm confused. The result is really lovely.
I am going to be re making this video now I am brave enough to do voice overs LOL and I am better at making them so watch this space, it will be 100% better and no creepy music......
what I find that helps in these vids is to slow the speed down. Go to the bottom right and there is a wheel thing, click on speed and slow down as much as needed, it really helps me
Not sure what you mean by no precise instruction's. Everything is clearly pointed out by brand and setting and the video is not cut so you can see every step. This is a very old one it is on my list to remake with verbal instructions.
You point to the iron settings, but I don't see the setting is it low, medium or high? Also, I see the pattern on the wax paper but how did it print on the paper, do I need a special machine? What kind of paper is the shinny one.
The caption says ''hot iron'' and the setting I pointed to is hot. The pattern says cuttlebug on it and the caption says ''emboss the wax paper'' this can be done by hand or with a folder like the one I used.
Puzzled me a bit, until I watched it 4 times, then got it. But the reason I watched in the first place was because I thought it was a tutorial on doing original work. But it wasn't. I don't copy other people's work, all I do is original. But have fun.
Says quite clearly in the title it is a technique, and and old one........ I couldn't have got any clearer..... A technique is not an original work, its a technique............ If you think a technique is copying then everything you do is a copy and nothing is original. Holding a paint brush and dipping it in paint is a technique, inking up a stamped image is a technique, dipping a pen in an ink well is a technique, brayering ink is, have you guessed it yet? a technique! My god who would have thought it! a technique! To help you understand a bit more, here is the dictionary definition of the clearly labelled title of the video..... en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/technique
Theo wow! that is some weak game, brother. BTW- the whole idea is not to copy other artists. It's to take what others have done and make it your own by taking it a step further. It's called art history.
This technique is so cool!!! I've seen it before, but I forgot about it. And it wasn't as pretty as yours!!!
I definitely will do this. Its very unique!!! Perfect for journals! TFS Austin,TX USA
So happy to have reminded you about an awesome technique :) Happy new year and happy crafting.
All I could think of when I saw the textures was how neat it would to be to emboss sheets of tin to use on ceilings and how neat those papers would be to make cards or use in junk journals... Really enjoyed your video...
I was just really annoyed theirs a flaw in the paper that crated that line down it all :( Thanks so much for watching, its super easy!
Thanks for the video. Have never seen this technique before. Can't wait to try it! Cute music, reminded me of a child's music box.
Mic Kline so glad you will give it a go, it gives great results!
Ooooo! That is so cool! I love the results. Thanks for sharing this technique!
Thanks so much, so glad you liked it.
Very cool and pretty process! TFS the inspiration!

Cindy DeGroot it is a flaw in the paper. Didn't know it was their untill after and it was too late. Thanks for watching.
loved the music box.
Very nice! Always Loved this technique.
+Shay Franklin thanks so much, the old ones are the best!
This is so cool, beautiful idea and very well presented. Is it weird though that i'm really loving your dinky little iron?
I want one of those. :-)
Love your work hun. xxx
this is fascinating! I hadn't seen it done before. fun!
Thanks so much!
Wow, I loved the technique and the results. The music...not so much!
I do voice overs now instead since I gained more courage LOL, so glad you enjoyed the technique!
I actually really like the music box music!
Nice video. What kind of paper do you use whit the wax paper? Thanks
Encaustic art card.
I think the strip effect is merely due to your cutting pads weakening in that one area, anyhoo cool effect!
Or - did you use something that would of left a residue on your machine's upper roller? I once discovered a thin strip of glue got on mine after some 'missed' spots appeared.

Right but you rolled the wax paper through didn't you and same suggestions - but I'm willing to chalk it up to mischievous craft faeries, lol
love the music.

Thanks for sharing this cool technique! Do you think glossy photo paper would work?
Yes so long as it will take heat, otherwise it will melt the plastic coating.
Can ou use a sponge instead of a brayer? why is there a white line through the images? Nice video. Thank you
Hiyah, thanks for watching. Their is a white line because of a flaw in the card stock used, that wont happen to you. Never treid it with a sponge so if it works let me know! Just be sure to use glossy card or encaustic art card.

thanks so much for reply! Much appreciated! :)
Penny Fairman
your welcome :)
May I know the specific name of that steampunk cuddlebug embossing folder? I am a newbie, so I hope I could make it as pretty as you did!!
yaya bubibu Its Cuttlebug one called Clockwork. Its quite old so check e-bay you might find a used one cheap.
It's 2000205 Clockworks - if you google it there are still a few places you can get it. (I had to check too - this is a great use for it!)
this was great once. I turned it down since there is no voice. that sound made my ears hurt. hahaha
thanks for watching! sorry for the late comments, I just got notified of a load of comments I never received! I am gonna re make this video soon! LOL
Great idea! Where can I find that paper?
bakery department. thanks for sharing my video!
how did you emboss the pattern into the wax paper the video was not very clear ? perhaps words explaining would be more useful than music.
At 48 seconds into the video, you put the wax paper into an embossing folder then run it through a die cutting machine.
what kind of paper is that? it's neat!
thanks for watching! sorry for the late comments, I just got notified of a load of comments I never received! It is encaustic art card so its glossy but it takes heat so you can fast dry things.
love the technique but the creepy music box music has to go!!
I was actually enjoying it cuz my baby was falling asleep next to me 😂
Personally I like it! Better than the over-the-top goopey tunes :)

Thanks :)
I love it! You did a fantastic job! I'm a new subscriber, thank you!
Thanks so much, I have a load of crafty videos to edit and upload, I do beauty vids too, hope that does not put you off!

Hate the music, would have rather you explain what your doing!
I made this in 2013 when it was the trend to have captions, it is on my list to remake though! :)
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Could do with verbal instructions - finding it hard to follow without.
