I love making paper and adding dried plant matter. I recently purchased a pack of handmade paper at an op shop - a bit over-priced really as it's a bit thick and crumbly so I was going to add it to a batch of pulp. It might use it for this technique. Thanks
thank you so much for this excellent tutorial, delivered with such sweetness! Your method of waxing paper is new to me and I think I'll be using it. So helpful.

Can you please tell me what kind of machine you use for the stitching? It looks as if you are able to manipulate the needle rather than the fabric. Thank you.
Muito obrigado pelo vídeo! Me ajudou num projeto importante aqui :D
Um grande abraço do Brasil!!!
No 1,000 here; so glad I did a search for waxed papers as I am creating some while researching. If you know, what glue might work for layering? I found several brands of glue stick work just fine for adhering 2 layers of craft paper together before waxing however; I've not tried gluing two waxed or one waxed to a non-waxed. Thank you for the demonstration.
We've not found any glue that bonds the waxed papers together easily. You could try sticking them together with a dot of molten wax, or otherwise we use stitching.
@@DesignMattersTV Thank you for the answer, I'm sure I'm not the only maker who asked. Did not think of stitching; I do not normally stitch. Might be an opportunity to try waxed sinew, leather binding style ;)
This video is fascinating, please can you say which of your many other videos is the one on making your own papers that you mentioned in this video? It's been some years since I made my own papers and I'm always fascinated to see how other people do it.
Thank you for your kind comments. Here's a link to the paper making video on our website: www.designmatterstv.com/introduction-to-papermaking/
Is it possible to somehow paint the wax on? So only certain areas become saturated? Great video! Thanks!
+danceoncardboardd Yes, you can melt the wax in a batik pot and brush it on where you want it. Thanks! Laura
gracias..
YAAA...
Thank you very much! Love this waxing technique specially with handmade paper, been looking for it since a while. Have you tried waxing watercolour on paper too? You mention about a video for handmade paper, can you share the link please?
Hi Stephanie, Yes, you should be able to wax a watercolour painted paper. We'd recommend just trying a small sample to see if it gives you the results you're looking for. The handmade papers video is on this page, along with lots of other free video workshops: www.designmatterstv.com/free-video/
What do you use for gluing the waxed papers?
It can be tricky to glue the waxed papers so we found that stitching them together works best.
Does cocoa butter work well with this procedure?
I haven't tried it, you really need something that is quite solid and waxy at room temp or your papers are going to feel greasy.
I have a question, I am waxing some papers and the smell from the beeswax isn't very pleasant, especially for the show that I will have these pieces in. My waxed papers will not be covered by glass, so they will be exposed. Is there anything you suggest to get rid of or reduce the smell?
Hi Brittany, I quite like the smell of beeswax! But if you don't, try waxing your papers with a plain white candle instead, or maybe even a scented candle. The waxing of the papers should be just the same, but you won't have that strong beeswax aroma. Hope this helps and thanks for watching! Linda
DesignMatters TV thank you!!

Well..if that excites you, you should see what I can do with a can of coke or a cup of coffee!
@Not Tryin' to Hear You---I'd feel pretty sad, too, if my channel consisted of using other people's hard work and talent. What have you created lately, sweetie??
