22:33 I just looked up this 747-400's tail number (B-2464) and to my surprise in 2001 she was one of the 747s that was converted into a Dreamlifter. Her registration is now N747BC.
Bizjet Pilot it wasn’t efficient. The mainline and regional market seems to only be able to sustain 2-3 players each. The Boeing and Airbus duopoly will continue to exist until either company collapses or is forced to split. I doubt that any airliner efforts from the Russians or Chinese will materialize into a reliable or desirable product. Most of the buyers will be airlines existing within the Russian & Chinese spheres of influence
51:51 captures the very MD-82 that was involved in the flight 6136 crash in 2002; I've flown on it once. It brings back good childhood memories. Thank you.
Incredible footage! I remem er going on a school trip to Beijing in 2001 on an MD-11 we parked next to an Air Koryo IL 62 and JAL DC-10. I didn't think so much of it at the time, but what I'd give to see such a variety of aircraft types and sounds again!
KLM just broke my heart yesterday by retiring their whole 747-fleet after 49 years (instead of 50 next year) because of the coronavirus and now this is in my recommendations!? 2020 makes me sad. :(
That's what old low bypass engines sound like when they don't have a hush kit installed on them. BAC 1-11s and DC-9s made that same crackling noise at takeoff power. It's completely normal.
Man, where have two decades gone?!?! But anyway...great vid. Quite a few Soviet era planes in here. Also cool to hear how engine sounds have changed over the past 20 years.
4:38 The outstanding ethnic liveries of BA (widely known as Utopia Livery or World Tails) created by London-based design agency Newell & Sorrell. i felt a bit of sadness knowing most of those planes no longer fly. Perhaps, except for the BA 747 - I believe it is still flying- G-CIVN. Was great to see the MD-11s once again. Thanks for taking us back to another time.

Another thing I've noticed is that the planes in these videos from the late 90s and early 2000s make much more of hissing noise than they do now whereas now they make more of a roar or whoosh. I'm not sure whether it's the planes rather it is an artifact of the microphone/speaker.
It was golden time, so many different birds, no matter, Soviet, European or American, they just were in flying, and it was great... And now it's very boring to look at modern airports, the same typical planes everytime, everywhere
2:19 This aircraft (9V-STP) was hijacked by four Pakistanis in 1991. The plane would land safely, and all hostages survived. It was the only time Singapore Airlines was hijacked
Wow 32.18 Yugoslav Airlines ! Never knew; imagine I (still do) did travel a lot in China / Asia / World in those days. Big chance I've seen those planes and even flown a few, but those days I only saw them as a way to get from A to B......
2:24 What engine type is that on the A310-300? This looks like PW engines but it doesnt sound like PW4000 engines. Are these JT9d's like on the Air China 747SP after this one?
10:19 well that is someone who has not gotten new planes

Unbelievable what a diversity of aircraft there still was begin 21st century.. would love to go back in those days for a day 😃🤩
Pre 9/11. Lol. I remember when you could smoke on flights.
While it’s true that there isn’t very much diversity, most airliners today are nonetheless incredibly efficient and safe.
Bizjet Pilot it wasn’t efficient. The mainline and regional market seems to only be able to sustain 2-3 players each. The Boeing and Airbus duopoly will continue to exist until either company collapses or is forced to split.

Is everyone gonna ignore the fact that we just saw a tupolev-154?
Edit: I have just now realized that there's also Air Koryo
