This video popped up in my suggested videos, which reminded me it's time "recharge" my K&N filter on my '11 CC. I'd forgotten how involved getting to the filter is.
Or just remove the t25 screws around the housing and lift the lid enough to remove the old filter and pop in a new one. All in less time than it takes to watch this vid

Thanks for the great video. A question here... I asked my oil change guy to install a KN filter on my 2013 CC. 6 days later my engine light was on and saw the error code P0101. The car was stalling and till I get home at a traffic light the engine just shut down. Restarted the car again and slowly drove it home. Thinking to open the MAF sensor and clean it. Should I go back to a factory installed air filter? did anyone run into such issue? Thanks for the suggestions and great video.
My only question is does removing the sensor and putting it back on cause the car to need to be reprogrammed as well, i’ve heard of a lot of people removing sensors to do easy work on VW and check engine lights come on due to unplugging or faulty sensors
There was actually a test that was which which compared K&N filters with other filters and it did boost power by a noticeable amount, but it allowed *significantly* more particles through than the other filters

what is that small hose on the front of the air housing that you removed first? Mine was disconnected on my GTI and I was noticing engine shaking, and a brief flash of the ECP check engine light. Wondering if that could have been the culprit.
It's the secondary air intake (SAI). I think it's an emissions requirement for cars sold in California and maybe some other states as well. So not all VWs will have it.
Exactly what model of hose clamp pliers did you use? i see alot of different kinds. thanks. also what model of torx bit tool screw driver? seems like it has to be long. thanks
Hey how do you check to see if the heating system is working properly? My heat has alot of trouble heating up during really cold temps. Usually 15 and under. Also, what`s the little box connected to the box with the air filter for?
Sounds like you might have a thermostat issue with the heat. Its best to have is diagnosed to be sure whats going on. Not sure what box youre speaking of. If its the box in the front of the engine bay that is an air duct for intake air.

Tried to clean with solution then ended up replacing the MAS with a new one. Check engine light still on after 200 miles with new MAS. Could there have been a mistake made when changing the air filter that would have triggered this?

I'm telling you, that spring clamp is a pain to put back with out the proper tool! Wish I read that I didn't need to do that.
@@ixquiz I just use channel locks. need to do it in two moves through. wide open to get is part way on then. narrower to seat it properly

This is a very common question, but does the K&N offer any performance advantage or is it just the re-usability that is the benefit?

I removed the filter only to find a mouse nest in the space UNDER the filter pre screen. How do I get into that space without damaging the air box?

MY 2014 2.0L FILTER HAS FOUR PHILIPS SCREWS AND YOU REMOVE THE TOP- REPLACE THE ROUND FILTER THAT'S IT. BABOOM

All the tools with the exception of the ratchet are from Snap On.

VWGTI every 20k miles is the recommended interval.
Looks the same as my GOLF GTI MK6.
Misleading video. You can't use normal pliers for the clamp. You won't be able to reposition it once removed from original place.
So is this almost the same for a GTI?
