re: the Goodwill
"I didn't intend to go in there. But then I did."
STORY OF MY LIFE, lolololol. I love finding great things at thrift stores.
Linda, wear the 70s pants with the fur vest and you could be Cher for Halloween! I love these type of videos! You always have the best tips!
Linda as Cher! Have to admit that one never crossed my mind even remotely! Now I can’t wait to see it! 😂
I was thinking the same thing!
Love the Turquoise vase, put it in the shelf behind you bed....on top of the cream 2 books ! Love the Vest Too❣
Our oldest and only son joined the Marine's in 2000 and left for boot camp that summer. I dived into his closet and am still wearing some of this old high school basketball t-shirts for working in the garden. Now that he is married with 3 children and 2 step children, living in California and retired from the Marine's, I still am wearing some of those t-shirts. I will continue until they are filled with holes. Throughout those years as he was deployed, 3 times during his Marine career, those t-shirts brought me great comfort. I prayed my way through those years and his closet. I could see you tearing up while talking about those jeans of Johnny's. Had those cargo shorts too!! I understand. Hugs.
Loving recycling & repurposing - it’s a great message for influencers to be demonstrating instead of this fast-fashion, throw away culture we’ve got into, great work Linda 🌟
You are such a likeable person! I also always show my husband my thrift store finds 😄
I love seeing ALL your thrift finds no matter garden related or not ❤️
I enjoy when you share your excitement with us! I just love seeing people joyfully passionate, speaking about things they love. It's so fun to find treasures, especially for low prices! 💚🖤 Can't wait to see the new jeans!
Hi Linda! Here I am, having recently turned 50 and in the middle of perimenopause and feeling glum...and then I watch your videos and you perk me right up, make me sit up straighter, and remind me that the spark of life comes from within. You are like my cool, wise, savvy, fun, young aunt!
And proud to be so! I promise… You are entering the happiest part of your life :-)
The pants will be adorable on you with that white blouse! The faux fur is so gorgeous on you. Yes, definitely style with tall boots and slim pants but wear a wool fedora or straight brim hat to complete the look. The orange and turquoise pants are so retro…they go with your beautiful turquoise vase. ❤️ I love that you share you wonderful ideas with us. The embellished jeans project is perfect!! You do not talk too much. 😍
Joy I can tell you are a person with style from your suggestion :-)
@@LindaVater you’re so sweet, Linda, I can only dream but you can pull it off. ❤️
My son lives on the other side of the country. I have a pair of his old sneakers in my potting shed! 💜 they remind me of when he mowed my lawn and helped me out in the garden.
I love this video. It’s something sisters or mothers and daughters do with each other.
All of your finds and ideas are amazing! It's so endearing that you are wearing your son's clothing that he left behind after moving overseas. What a great mom!
We are channeling the Joy Linda. Thank you for sharing. 🌸❤️🌸. Robin from Texas
HAROLDS!!! My very first job was wrapping gifts at Harold's when I was 14 and I worked there off and on throughout college and after:-) I remember meeting Harold himself when they came to open their first store in Memphis. Great memories! I STILL have some of those beautiful clothes in my closet!
Hi Linda, I started to follow you for gardening tips. Then I found we have same hobby to reuse/purpose things for their second life. Then you brought tears to my eyes when you talked about your older son. Congrats first and then hugs. Many of us have families overseas, so I feel you. And thank you and Steward for your wonderful videos!
Who says you talk too much? Le' me at 'em! That's why your fans watch you. We love you talking!
You’re a beautiful spirit Linda….sharing as you do, whether a thrift find or otherwise….you elevate beauty and style wherever you go! ~
Love that tunic length vest. It reminded me of Ralph Lauren style. A pair of riding boots with camel pants tucked in the boots and a brown turtleneck would be such a classic look! Great finds Linda!
I agree!
It is wonderful to know someone with such great taste and style also recycles and helps others realize that it away to contribute to saving our planet
I love your thrifty shopping of those two vases. I also like your fall challenge. Will join you and make one myself! Have a good night! Thanks, Linda!
Send a pic!
You style it with such southern grace and real intent, i like your real Love on this ! good day
I love that wall of bookshelves in your bedroom!!
I love the repurpose, reuse , thrift ideas. I grew up in the 70’s and love all the clothes from that era too. Love your videos!
Oh those Harold's pants I would have a tailor sew a fabric insert down each leg and make them fit well. Orange, blue, or any color from the print. Way to cute and nostalgic to cut up. And the fur vest is you. Really like the pottery pieces. You are so lucky our goodwill is a junk store.
So proud for your son's marriage but sorry you were not there to celebrate. Thank you enjoyed this video.
How can anyone give this sweet video a thumbs down? Come on people! You go Linda! Love it! 💜-Laura
Lol😂🤣😂
Love your style! You actually motivate me to dress a little more stylishly - thank you! I usually thrift for home and garden but now I think I'll take more time to check out the clothing, too. Have a nice weekend, Linda and Stewart!
You have a great fashion sense, Linda! Fun to watch.
Yes! Style the vest with the black turtle neck, black skinny jeans and black tall boots! So chic. And YES to the project.
You never talk to much, you are a fantastic explainer and story teller. You are so unpretentious and totally interesting.
Thank you dear!
Love the animated intro with the pumpkins...
I’m an angry “sewer” but my daughter is great at it so you now just gave me a fabulous idea for a project for us during a snow storm - she’s very artsy.
I absolutely love the fur vest!!!!!! Yes, conservative turtle neck with tall boots!!!
😁😁😁
When I bring stuff to the thriftstore I always find something I cannot live without and take it home. So happy I'm not the only one, LOL. Your finds are GREAT Linda!
Oh my gosh, what a great tip about using an earring to close your top!! Can't believe I never thought of it. I love your style and you inspire me.
You’re a delight!! No, you could never talk too much for me. I re-watch many of your videos, and your knowledge, intelligence and charm are the reason. (Enjoy gardening, but as a fellow thrifter and amateur decorator, I especially love these videos. You’ve got wonderful style.)
Thank you 🙏
Terrific video, love the idea of your using your son’s old clothes! So enjoy listening to you as you’re going along explaining everything! Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Diane
I do enjoy your enthusiasm!! Thanks for sharing and can't wait to see those jeans. I am sure you miss your Johnny a lot. Wearing his clothes will be a lovely hug. Love those two jars!! Thanks as always.
Loved everything especially the vest,,love vest . ....glad you share your fines
I would wear either vest with an off white sweater dress. The shirt you are wearing is perfect.
Your clothing finds are spectacular! You do NOT talk to much.
Thumbs up on everything thing you got at GW! Love the material on the flower jeans and the idea of doing the patchwork on your son’s denims. Congratulations on your new daughter-in-law! Mom, I very much understand having a son live overseas - my oldest (I also have two adult sons and youngest is married and has a son) also lived out of country for many years and although I was so glad he was doing something he loved and was so well suited for (as your son must be also) it was challenging at times to have holidays, birthdays and other family times w/o him being with us. He now works for an organization where he works out of country for short periods of time so he is home for most holidays ,etc. But I think I will ask for him to search his closet for something I can have to wear. Thank you for the ideas! And so enjoyed your purchase reveal in your lovely bedroom - love the global look.
Hi Linda, I would take the pockets off the shorts and create new ones from the floral material. Possibly using the seat part of the pants to create new pockets. Especially if they have patch pockets. Love from England.
I love that you shop for fashions at second-hand stores. I watched a documentary recently that showed what happens to much of the clothes we donate. There's so much waste and much ends up in the ocean where garments get tangled and look like huge tentacles.
Whoever donated those 70s clothes probably didn't realize that look is back in style.
I noticed Target has blouses where the billowy long sleeves are gathered with a big cuff. I'm old enough to have worn that style the first time. (Just got my Medicare card.) ☺️
I teach a renewable energy class at my high school, and just this year discovered what I bet is the same documentary. I had NO IDEA how many clothes are not recycled, but just trashed.
Loved the white shirt on you
My son just married not long ago, moved to MN. Found like you I have been missing seeing him regularly. He left stuff at my home he will not wear any longer so I snagged some of his flannel shirts that will be great for this fall. Fun repurposed video, loved it.
The layers, mixing and colors in your home are so classy cool comfortable. Not sure if I'd get rid of much in the paring down process. I'm all in with the floral gauzy pants. Fun styling. Stay forever fabulous LV.
Thanks sweet pea
Bedroom looks beautiful-your friend in the Spanish bungalow will probably really love it too. The red-orange highlights of the lamp shade and books give it great seasonal flair and energy. A perfect, restrained use of red. ❤️
Oh I agree! Love the bedroom.
Great finds & I love how you recycle & repurpose everything! Also, the red pants are so fun!!
I love your idea with the patches, super cute.
I was thinking styling your vest with a black turtleneck and boots too! 😊
Diggin the hippy pants! Those vests are a definite for Colorado.
I concur!
I so enjoyed your video and and all your tips and tricks. Made me smile. Thank you 🪴
How funny. All the clothing you showed from Goodwill, I was already thinking how they would make cute pillows! The red pants in particular, 2 lumbar pillows or bolsters and a throw pillow. I do sew occasionally, only for myself now though I used to sew for the public, and I'm still obsessive about fabrics. My first ever pair of bell bottom jeans, I made them in 1972 when I was in 8th grade, were a pair of 1960s Lee jeans purchased at a local thrift store for a quarter (left over from my lunch money) and then I split the leg seams up to the knee and hand sewed in a triangle shaped floral fabric which was a scrap from my mother's sewing pile. I loved those jeans! ...I'm really sympathetic and a bit jealous concerning your sons. My son passed away in 2009 following a battle with Lymphoma/Leukemia (he survived the cancer, was in total remission, but the cancer treatment killed him). He was 28 then, so would be 40 now. He left a widow, after only 3 years of marriage, and no children. However, she will be my forever daughter-in-law, and she remarried to a wonderful man--who maybe not so coincidentally very much resembles my son--whom I've adopted as my son-in-law, and together they've given me 3 wonderful grandsons whom I wholeheartedly claim as mine! With the blessing of both of their biological grandmothers too. I don't get to be with them often since I'm in TX and they're in TN. I do have a daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren here in TX too. But no one can replace my son and I do miss him terribly. I often imagine him just being away in a far away land and I look forward to being with him again. Keeps me sane. ...Anyway, thank you so very much for this fun, very pleasant, memory inspiring and thought provoking video! Made my day. Thank you!
The clothes are adorable and buying in thrift stores is a pretty kind deed for nature!😍 Much respect💚👃
Love goodwill so much fun and so noble saving the planet
Love the pant fabric. The jeans will be soooo cute.
You dress so much nicer than I do in the garden LOL! But I do have to say I have some shorts I wear of my boys in the garden! I'm in the south - TN - and our house if off the road so no one sees me gardening...Thank goodness!!!
You do not talk to much !!! Love thrifting......If you ever come to Rhode Island we would have a ball!!
I totally understand feeling homesick for your son. Mine lives in Ca and doesn’t want to travel due to COVID…..and NO you do not talk too much! You are amazing and if you lived in my ‘hood, we’d be friends💕🙌🏼
I LOVE your style. Everything about it is so Boho Chic. Can’t wait to see more!!!!!
Pair the red hippie pants and the fur vest and you’ll have Cher nailed! 😄😄
Someone else said that too!
I've been finding arts and crafts, craftsman and bungalow Mission style items thrifting, I have a 1925 Craftsman, and a few year's ago it became a huge craze, everything was expensive now not so much so finding pieces for cheap, has been really fun.
A wide Hat band would be fun in that fabric. Luv all of this.
WONDERFUL IDEA!!!
I love your style and mini haul...yes, to the red pants and yes, to the diy/upcycle jeans. OMG, the Harold's pants....Harolds was my favorite store. I am from Mississippi, we had one store and I would travel 3 hours to go and shop there...I still have items that I wear...miss that store so much !! Look forward to the jeans upcycle !
What fun I had watching you share all your great finds...Score!!! Also loved the tip with the lone earring!
I love your honesty and class. You are so interesting to watch.
Great tip on the earring closure, love that
I love your thrift finds and your son’s clothes are going to look great on you. A sweet way to feel close to your son.
Your recycling your adult son's old clothes is a fabulous idea, very creative and fun to watch😀
Love that you’re shopping your sons closet. You’re adorable! Just found your channel today (Christmas day…sounds a bit sad…not…our celebration will be tomorrow…binge watching today.) and enjoying your content.
Welcome to our community!
I get it with your sons clothes. After my dad died, I wear his baseball hats when I garden and always think of him when I put them on. Especially as he was so supportive of my yard renovation efforts- he loved to spend time sitting on my back patio enjoying the scene and watching birds visiting the water feature
Love this Mary🙏
Linda all those pieces look good with what you have on.
Hi Linda! I love all of your videos, and this one was extra special to me! When I saw your coffee mug and you mentioned Hungry Holler, I got so excited! 😃 I’m originally from Oklahoma, and many years ago Jan’s husband, known as The Zen Spoonmaster, custom-made many beautiful wooden spoons for me. He was the nicest fellow, and I absolutely treasure my wooden spoons! It’s so nice to hear that Jan is still sharing her incredible talents with the world, and I will definitely check out her Instagram! Thanks for sharing! I’m a little homesick now, ha! 😊
Great find in the fur vest and sweater. Looks so cute on you! I love a great deal and always have to show my husband my finds. He always humors me!
I love the vest you purchased 💗 The jeans you plan to make are going to be very adorable. Thea know you for the idea. I love the ideas of using your sons clothes 💗💗💗
I have never seen your bedroom, I love it!! Great finds, those brightly colored pants are super fun 5 thumbs up and faux fur vests and jackets are going to be all the rage this fall and winter! I'm with ya on the collar standing up-- love, love, love the project with your son's jeans!! So much fun!!
Aww I have lots of my sons clothes too. Neither live at home now but one is local so stealing his stuff is easy. The other is in Florida and whenever we go to see them and the grandkids, I always take something of his home. Usually a sweatshirt.
I have them all tucked away and wear them when it’s cool and, like you, I think about him when I do.
Enjoy wearing them!
The 1st 2 clothing pieces say “Legends of the Fall” and “ Dumb and Dumber” LOVE THEM!!!!!
Yes!!
I love the pants, the long vest and the pottery
I love your enthusiasm and total joy of everything you do. Your finds are amazing but I must say the finds from your son's closet sure brought a huge smile to my face. As a mother of two sons as well I know how you feel. You are a beautiful soul and I could listen to you all day. Stay true to YOU. PS I am a bracelet hoarder lol
Love the idea of the challenge. I do sew but I am thinking of revamping some of my older well-worn jeans with fabric paint, or I can do patches and paint. I, too, am a huge fan of white linen shirts. Good quality ones are hard to find, but worth it as they are classic and last forever. As far as some gapping, I love to wear the Duluth Trading company No Yank Tanks under my shirts. They work great but love the earring idea. 😀 And I do love your room, you just gave me some great inspiration for the two areas beside our bed. I love books, all kinds, but in our small home I don't have a good place for them but putting built-in bookcases beside our bed like that would be perfect. They are odd walls as our two-story home has sloped walls upstairs.
Linda I love this. I have been collecting Vintage Hankerchiefs and vintage fabrics to make a pair of Jeans. I wish we could post pics. You are so full of life… Plus I painted my fence to match yours. You are such an inspiration.
Loving this video! I love thrift ing as well! Thank you for demonstrating repurposing and recycling and elevating it to something beautiful. Love your style ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Linda, I suggest you keep the vases and place them on the bookshelves behind you. I enjoy your program!!!
Watched this video to the end...I’m all in on your custom denim project! Perfect for fall! 🍁🍂
Love the patchwork jeans idea! I have three faux fur standup collar vests… Absolutely love wearing them. Have had loads of complements. Keeps me warm when driving my car without the bulk of a coat. Skinny jeans, black boots, and a cool hat. Lots of bangles and jewelry. Like is short, live it up!
Yes!!!
I would love a video on your hair and how you style it, and the cut. I love watches , either I have my Fitbit or a watch , even at home .
This was a fun video, Linda! I love your GW haul & shopping your son’s stored clothing…hilarious! Great gardening clothes, too! Probably better quality than some we see today. Thanks for sharing your interesting life. We live in Nashville and planted some plants you recommended for under a crepe myrtle last spring. This is the first time anything has done well in that spot. You know what you are talking about! Thanks enormously! 🍁
Linda you are looking younger. It is obvious you take good care of your skin and body. Its working girl!!😊
Well thank you!
Linda I love your channel. I have only just found your channel. You are so elegant and stylish. You look terrific in your outfit, and I love your thrift store finds. I look forward to seeing more of your content.
Linda,
I have always loved blue & orange together. Love that groovy flowered pattern on the pants.
Glancing down at a elegant watch is so much classier than pulling out your phone to check the time IMHO
Love love love …..house tours your the best……fall?Thanksgiving?Christmas?
From Ontario Canada I love watching your videos! We have a lot in common with gardening and thrift shopping! Your an inspiration and look forward to watching more of your videos!
ABBA vibes with those pants. Love!🥰🥰
Exactly!!!
I love shopping Goodwill for jeans and cool interesting pieces to work into my wardrobe. Those patchwork pants will be amazing!
What a delightful post. I’m looking forward to doing the jeans project!!
Linda I am so laughing at you! You are styling to work in your garden and I work in my yard in my pj’s!!! 🌳🌳🌳 I do love that khaki jacket though. I am a watch girl too. I have many.
So far because I watch you I have purchased more than 2 things you own and use on your show. I love them.
I’m so glad!
I love the red 60s vibe pants! Great finds from GW and your son’s closet!
