@@David-bb7mt maintaining their brand image is very important. Is probably how they can become heritage, carefully curating and pricing appropriately. Problem with microbrands is a lot of them price at bargain level to try and attract, damages their brand. Like Dave said, I prefer they make effort to offer a unique case and bracelet only and charge more, rather than extra generic straps.
This is a beauty, Dave! I have a great respect for Miyota movements, both quartz and mechanical, based on my own collection. Do you have the May holiday in Japan? Either way, have a great weekend. Cheers 🍻!
I think it is important to note that, until relatively recently, most people wore watches and most people had one watch. ONE watch that can be worn for nearly every purpose is a highly valuable tool to own and use. Jack Nicklaus was evidently gifted a Datejust in his youth and it has been his only watch since.
I think Primitive House totally nailed it with this watch. Its like a fresh modern day field watch. Urban field. I like that. Great review as always mate.
Bauhaus design is defined as so reduced that you can't take away anything without negative influence on function. But you're right, there's a lot of Nomos influence, especially the Clup Sport Neomatic. The white one also has a Farer vibe.
I don't know how many can afford £263 UK for a Watch, thus having 3 Straps included is superb for someone like me - one who could only afford such a thing once every 5 yrs at most, as things stand now - I think it shows customer care. And though the Movement is 'Basic' it's probably going to last a lifetime. For someone who's been considering new Watches regularly, over a long period, perhaps such an offer isn't as valuable. Is the Vid for rich folk? The Seiko SRPE is just a little cheaper, I'd get that, which apparently shows how competitive the market is, even at this price-point.
Cool watch, but I think I speak for the entire watch community: the ubiquitous oyster style bracelets need to go. Collectors do NOT want the same bracelet on every single watch. It's a sheeple move, as is the closed case back. For $329, a different style SS bracelet (bor for example), and an open case back are a must.
This looks like a really fun watch with a lot of versatility and the variety of colors works surprisingly well. Didn't know that Primitive Haus existed but I'm glad they do. I dislike the way the bracelet attracts fingerprints so I'd probably wear it on the rubber strap. Most likely pick up a second strap that is orange and mix the strap with orange on one side and white on the other to really lean into the playful color. Wouldn't bother swimming with it or taking it on a boat but it would probably make a good casual watch to wear around town or on a walk
Very tasty design, and great specs, especially for the price! This is a great alternative to the Sternglas Marus with a less sporty and more playful and elegant look! The Marus is also an interesting blend, a decluttered diver with strong Bauhaus cues that fits many styles without looking too generic. But I prefer the Timekeeper Type-A for its size, and it's kind of like a Nomos for the rest of us 😉
This is a very basic watch, it does not "do it all". The watch lacks elementary features that I need: stopwatch, day-date, electroluminescent back light display. I use the stopwatch function daily. This watch is useless lacking that. Plus there are many other less expensive options if one only wants to get the basic time. Cheers.
Good looking watch indeed. But being produced in China with the one of the cheapest available Miyota movements this watch should cost no more than 200 bucks. Dave, given your role as influencer in the watch nerd community ,you should strive to keep true to yourself and not advocate constant price creep that we see nowadays
Looks like you got the new Erebus in. Looking forward to that review. As or this one - eh, I guess I'm not the target audience for it. I think they are trying to do too much with too little, and the result is inoffensive, but bland. Even with the color options. I did have a little chuckle at the extra straps - they are indeed generic Aliexpress straps. I just received a Tropic just like the one here with the same exact mold separation lines.
Love the content and how you bring it, congrats! kee the good job! great Bauhaus alternative, clean and yet playful. As for the straps, the brace seems the best one over the three. That said, the premise of the watch seems to me to ask for a leather strap: minimalism.
This Chinese made watches are doing good. I do t agree with your comment about the 200m wr. Because if they have made it 50m. Then it will be a complaint. Final thoughts = 3 bands, clean cases, different designs (white clownface), sapphire glass. Overall, it's not bad. At $300 usd is the standard price. For some watches with a little more character. 😊
Very cool. I saw Jody talk about this, and was impressed. I especially like the blue and orange. Looking forward to your Erebus Ascent review.
Can it do it all? No, it can't. Can't even tell you the date. So no it cannot do it all.
This strongly reminds me of my Nomos Ahoi Datum, especially with the fact that it doesn't have that traditional diver look but can go the 200M depth.
Regarding the bracelet - don't reinvent the wheel. Rolex just happened upon one of the best designs very early.
Seems that the most innovative styling is coming out of micro brands rather than the heritage brands. I guess they have no risk when taking chances.
It should be the other way round. I imagine it's a huge risk for micros due to limited budget.
@@GodIsInHisHeaven true, but I think the heritage companies really get boxed in because they have a certain image they need to maintain.

Great looking dials! I love how different each of the colorways look from each other. Awesome that it comes with three straps too.

I like it all except.. the crown position .. 😔
Cool Erebus Ascent sneak preview!

That’s true, but they were usually really really good watches at a time when such watches were probably more attainable.
Love the white one. Very clean design.
I think Primitive House totally nailed it with this watch. Its like a fresh modern day field watch. Urban field. I like that. Great review as always mate.
The white version is absolutely wonderfull 😍 It would have been perfect with a date function 😊

Meh looks very childish. All black and I'd be interested. Oh and fully brushed bracelet

Straight up Nomos Club homage. Not really much originality, but then, is there much you can do with "bauhaus"?

Fun watch. I think the red one looks gorgeous.
Also I can’t wait for the Ascent review 🤩 I feel like Jody has nailed it this time.
I'm a big fan of JOMW but really the Ascent is just a colorful SARB033 but hey that might work for some people.

These are ugly. 😂 I’m sorry, honestly. But these are a hard no for me. The hands on this thing are messy too.
If that's not a fun Summertime watch, I don't know what is. The specs would be great for twice the price
It tries to give you everything? It doesn’t even give you a day date. Smh.
The mix of bright colors screams "kids watch" to me.
I like the design, but just can’t get past the 00 at 12. Ah well
I don't know the name but this is an homage of watch that exists already
Does the bracelet fit right out of the box, using the micro adjust? Or did you have to remove links?
That question is dumb
I think that you said it all when you mentioned Aliexpres
I kinda love this watch. It wasn't on my radar at all before but it is now.
Wonder if this the same case as Vario.
I wish it was a quartz instead!!!
Would be better as a quartz...
Pretty cool. Small for me and no date
Strongly reminds me of my Muhle Glashutte Big 29er. Great work from Seattle!
I like the black and pink.
Nahhh
Good value
Cool watch
love it
The fact that it says Type A on the face, would suggest that it's fleiger inspired. It certainly looks like it.
Fun watch, great value. Thanks for sharing
I totally agree, this watch would look best on a leather strap. Great revue!
great looking watches, the white one reminds me of the first generation of swatch watches
Decent looking watches. 👍 Great specs and I really like the bracelet and straps.
Only thing that name and logo. No
NOT EVERYTHING, it Does NOT have DAY - DATE.
Excellent style!!
