    The pan would make an excellent video series because of your ability to fix stuff from top to bottom. Most of us are the low buck builds too and I'd love to see everything you do from case repairs, frame safety fixes, head rebuilds, alignment, wiring, troubleshooting, engine rebuild. Everything about that pan from start to finish would help us all learn since you are one of the very few real deal builder's with a heap of talent. I know its extra filming/editing but having the videos in your library will keep kicking off add money as you grow. You go into great detail to show and explain and thats what makes you one of the best.

    Most interesting thing for me would be watching that huge case repair in detail. Pre heating and post cooling, what type of rods. How to get the casting as clean as possible. Etc etc. super interesting. Great videos as always. Really enjoy them. Cheers man

    On that hot rod cone - the external drains are used generally with bores 3-13/16 and larger since bores that size will typically leave very little room for internal drains. There's also the added benefit of oil cooling since you aren't directing oil flow over a scorching exhaust port. You may also find that engine to be using o-rings instead of a traditional head gasket - potentially the source of the smoking. Measure the cylinder length for an idea of stroke or check flywheel stamp. 96" 9:1 cylinder length is 5.440", 98" 8.9:1 is 5.530", and 103" 9.7:1 is 5.630". With decomps that motor is at least 9.5:1 + unless it just has a big ole cam that isn't kicker friendly. Heads look like super sought after STD units with the 3 bolt flange - external drains were an option when purchasing these back in the day but I think max lift was only around .500 on Shovel. Incredible motor, would like to know more info!

      You now I was looking at it more and it looks like ultima cases and heads, not STD.

    Ground up build of the panhead, i personally wont miss an episode. Your videos are always super precise and informative. My buddy’s selling me a hodgepodge panhead, all different stuff.. but it’s complete, minus the crank and gears. I do have a set of 80 inch flywheels i’m thinking of throwing in it. What are your thoughts on that? Heads need repairs, case needs repairs. Long term project, but my first generator bike.

    • @PhilsWorks
      @PhilsWorks  Месяц назад

      I want to do an 80inch crank in one in the future too. Depending what flywheels they are you'll just have to do some working out to see which pinion and drive shafts to use.

    Hey Phil I'm learning a lot from you so when you weld your frame do you use mig or tig welding ?

      I 100% tig weld my frames. Sure you can mig them fine. I just find tig welding is a much nicer and stronger weld
