I have an old red Weller gun, bought for peanuts off Gumtree. Good as new, saves hours of time. Some very fiddly jobs on PCBs might be better suited to a small iron but many bike and car jobs are perfect for the Weller. It can heat a bike's Bowden-type brake cable end enough to let you solder it _prior_ to cutting with snips -- very neat, and eliminates frayed wires.

That weller is a bad mofo. I just got one from Lowes and wow. I soldered a plug in basically seconds. Serious tool right there compared to any iron I’ve found on a shelf.

Hi, i want to buy this gun because the other Weller guns like the D550Pk and D650PK are junk from what I've seen from the reviews on amazon. I need to do some heavy chassis soldering. Can i use this 9400PKS soldering gun for heavy chassis soldering? Hope to hear from you, many thanks

Nowhere near as good and as longer lasting than the older models. Ive purchased one of this new ones before and it broke after 3 months of light use. I've had my old 8200 for over 10 years now and is still as good as day 1.

7 year warranty that you have to ship to them and back to you on your own dime.. takes away alot of value from that warranty imho

Weller is pretty much junk now. There high end stuff is still OK, but even it is not what it used to be. Stay away.
