      @@NightFlyyer Thanks. When I opened mine the tip was loose and doesn't fit snuggly in the gun the screws are too short so I am looking for better ones now.
      Is is supposed to be that loose? The set screw(s), fully inserted dont even touch the tip. Any suggestions?

    • @NightFlyyer
      @NightFlyyer  2 года назад +1

      @@waynk3798 Well, mine has 2 big phillips head screws, and they don't move much. I guess I never looked to see if it was loose till just now since you mentioned it, and it is slightly loose. I guess I was using it while being loose. It heats up very hot even though. I just tightened those screws, and they did not move much and felt like they were already tight, but now the tip is tight, so they must've moved enough. Maybe a bit longer screw from ace hardware will be the trick for you.

    You can stand the soldering gun upright on its spool and handle. Unfortunately with the hot tip pointing up. So be careful.

    • @NightFlyyer
      @NightFlyyer  Год назад

      Yeah. That is not the greatest of ways for me, as the cord easily pulls it right over. I lay it on the side on a soldering iron stand and that is the best for me. Thanks.

  • @6strings1pickup12
    @6strings1pickup12 Год назад

    Pardon me if this is a silly question, keep in mind I am a complete noob at soldering as I've rarely ever done it.
    I thought the best way to solder was to hold the tip against whatever is being soldered, heat it up and then feed the solder in from the opposite side so that it flows through or around the connection toward the soldering iron. Does this make sense?
    So, in other words, do you still get a good long lasting solder joint when just sort of squirting solder onto the surface of the part like this?

    • @NightFlyyer
      @NightFlyyer  Год назад +1

      This is not squirting solder on the surface. In soldering, you heat the surface then apply solder. In most cases you need to touch the solder to the tip to get it start the flow. The solder will flow properly into the surface as it heats up and make a good connection. It’s Not a silly question.

  • @tomfuller7401
    @tomfuller7401 2 года назад +1

    That's a nice gun Dave, I really like the solder feed on it. Does it heat up real fast ? The price is nice on it. I might have to order one. I have 2 Weller duel heat guns, and a Ungar pencil type that I use most of the time when I put RF fittings on coaxial cable, but I do like the self feed feature on the Saker. Tom

    I just got one through Amazon. It is just more Chinese CRAP. Solder won't feed, it just winds all around the cheesy plastic gears and turns into a blob. Every part of it is cheapest possible material, looks like a 4th grade science project but probably works far less well. Junk! Never even bothered to plug it in. I have been a skilled solderer for 70 years and I know badly engineered junk when I see it.
