I heard some Gambale and Greg Howe in there. But the economy picking is really amazing. and the jump sweeping where you literally jump back down to high strings and sweep up over and over is pretty effective. like a pianist or keyboard player is able to do easily.

Too many shredders sound like they're stringing together a whole bunch of really fast-played rudiments and exercises, alternating with some tricks or gimmicks. Music first! Alex is among the best of the bunch.
1. First time I hear someone play ghost notes on hammers(?) (0:56) and palm muted slides (1:57) not accidentally and in musical context. 2. Alex, if you still have this guitar, I think playing it more on the channel will make you stand out even more. It's a gorgeous guitar that does catch an eye and it fits you well.

Well said, I LOL'ed because I never thought if it like that but you're right, Gambale uses the pinky as an anchor or fulcrum too. Troy Grady video of Gambale entitled "Frank Gambale's Cascading Sweep Harmonics" shows the master in closeup, Alex is absolutely the most worthy successor to Frank's astounding playing in my humble opinion, their phrasings and note selections and playing technique are truly godlike.
And this now also explains why it was such a problem when he broke that pinky on his picking hand, I never realized how important that "forgotten little finger" is to this style of sweep picking.

Alex I've been playing guitar for the best part of 40 years and still not up to this standard. Sounds amazing. I had an accident where I chopped through my picking hand thumb a year ago and lost the feeling in the tip of it so don't have as much control over the pick as I used to but still love to play and am getting back to where I used to be slowly. You're a real inspiration.

Lets be straight and frank. Long time ago i discovered jazz fusion by listening to Tony Macalpine and Greg Howe and i was not much into this genre but one day i saw Alex hutching's song called feeling fine with red fender and then i was like wtf this dude is king of the game and then i started to follow and check all the songs further i was blown away how Alex can play so clean, effortless, flashy and melodic at same time. I watched one video with Greg Howe jamming together and you played alot more better jazz fusion than Greg. I know Greg is backbone of Jazz fusion but you and guthrie are just monsters that i havent seen any others and since then to now i am huge Alex Hutchings fan and i loved jazz fusion just from Alex. Lets be straight and frank. Long time ago i discovered jazz fusion by listening to Tony Macalpine and Greg Howe and i was not much into this genre but one day i saw Alex hutching's song called feeling fine with red fender and then i was like wtf this dude is king of the game and then i started to follow and check all the songs further i was blown away how Alex can play so clean, effortless, flashy and melodic at same time. I watched one video with Greg Howe jamming together and you played alot more better jazz fusion than Greg. I know Greg is backbone of Jazz fusion but you and guthrie are just monsters that i havent seen any others and since then to now i am huge Alex Hutchings fan and i loved jazz fusion just from Alex. A big love and salute to you sir from Nepal😃
