Whenever I watch Pine and Prospect Home, I am simply inspired to declutter and wipe surfaces and stylize my home in a minimal and cozy way. Love, love, LOVE! We need this channel!
Good morning I love the idea of wallpaper in your bathroom.peel and stick.just as nice..If I could use it I would but I live in a apartment.Have a bless and safe weekend 🙏💐❤️
I lived through the 90's of wallpapering everything, then eventually stripping it (NOT fun), I recently used the self adhesive (peel and stick) in our new (OLD) home and LOVE it! As long as you can find a pattern you like, I would recommend trying the self adhesive. Have a great weekend.
If you are afraid or not a fan of wallpaper, whichever kind, removable, peel and stick or prepasted...then do stencil on your walls..it's genius! If you don't like it then you get the thrill of picking a different color paint and livening up your room that way 😊 I've seen stenciling done and I literally could not tell the difference between that and wallpaper unless i walked up and ran my hands over it 😂
Timeless wallpaper is the best as I can see. You have chosen the best color's and patterns to fit the style of your home. The color's are easy for people eye's and not on people's faces. Your right there's color's for different people. All over the world, if we would of liked the samethings I guess it'll be a boring place to live as other's say.
Aww I think wallpaper is classic! I grew up in a house that was wallpapered, my mum was an excellent wall-paperer and always picked the most classic designs, I’ve used wallpaper in my own home, and sure it’s popularity has gone in and out, but classic, timeless wallpaper always looks fantastic 😊, I think you should look at Laura Ashley Wallpaper, just beautiful!! love the videos xx
Hi Andrea, I have recently used wallpaper in my rented home. I used cornflour paste to apply it. It came off like a dream, no residue or damage. The main benefit is you can you can use any wallpaper you like and not be restricted to peel and stick. I think your style is impeccable and whatever you choose I am sure will look amazing. I take so much inspiration from you. Thank you. Diane from the uk
I’ve done a lot of wallpapering in my life and I think prepasted is the easiest to use because you can slide it around to adjust. If you’re doing short walls like you are I think peel and stick would be fine. A full length wall is a real challenge! It’s messier to apply prepasted and more difficult to strip however easier to smooth out bubbles. I’ve been considering papering a wall in my living room and you just gave me the motivation to start shopping for the pattern/color that would look the best for that space. TFS! You are so beautiful inside and out!
I agree! I’ve only used prepasted wallpaper that I typically add additional paste to and not peel and stick, but the ability slide the paper around on the wall to match seams is key for me. Peel and stick might not be like contact paper but I’ve watched lots of RUclipsrs still have problems with getting it installed on longer walls.
I love seeing wallpaper in small spaces as you suggested. I have removed a lot of wall paper from our home which was built in 1979 so you know what the colors were in the 70's. Harvest gold and greens. I had a very large wall with grass cloth on it and it was a bear to remove. I enlisted the help of my kids, nieces and nephews and we ended up dubbing it the "wailing wall" because it took us 8 hours to remove and we stood in front of it for so long!! Never again!!! I think if wallpaper is done correctly with timeless patterns it looks great. And basically a person can do what they want with their home if they love it. Thank you for sharing!
I love wall paper that don’t have a busy pattern or large prints in cottage/country style homes with the right furniture to go with it. My house inside is a little too modern with gray kitchen cabinets and very light gray walls, you know the colors that most people are so sick of😂. It wouldn’t match with the vibe in our home but I love it in other people’s homes.
My biggest tip for someone new to wallpapering is look for a pattern with a small repeat that is easier to match the pattern at the seams or wider stripes. Most homes built before 1920 were wallpapered and most of those wallpapers were floral or stripes. While checks and plaids have been around forever in fabrics, they were not seen much on walls until the 1970’s or 80’s. Part of the reason is because old homes were not especially plumb and level and checks and plaids accentuate their wonkiness at the corners! Wider stripes are more forgiving if the corner isn’t quite plumb. Florals or all over prints are the most forgiving of all. If it’s the first time wallpapering, doing a single wall without windows or doors is easiest. The more obstructions the harder it is. A bathroom is cheaper because less wallpaper is needed and if you are only wallpapering above a wainscot or tile that helps. However there are lots of obstructions if you are trying to wallpaper the whole wall and the steamy environment of bathrooms can cause them to lift at the seams. I would not recommend wallpapering inside a shower area, so if there’s not a good stopping point just outside the shower that can also be an issue. I love my bathroom wallpaper and wish I could find the same pattern again, but it’s been up for 30 years and the seams have been curling at the edges for at least half that time.
You are exactly right on so many points. My home was built in 1908 and the walls are not straight. So a stripe or check would show how "off" the walls are. An all over pattern would hide the imperfections. Also, for a steamy bathroom, this is a need for vinyl coated paper.
I also am afraid to use wallpaper but I love it. What I'm going to do first is attach it to the back of poster board and use it as the background and my Hutch and my bookcases. This way I can have many options and even change it with the seasons. Maybe this will give me the courage to actually Stick it to the wall
I’m 65 and I can tell you that however you choose to decorate your house, in a few years it will phase out. I have seen so many styles and trends come and go over the span of my life so just go with what you like. In five or ten years it may be totally out of style or you may just be tired of it but it’s going to happen. I’ve wallpapered and stripped a lot wallpaper over the years (ugh) so I doubt I will ever do wallpaper again except maybe a small area or one wall of a room. I love the prints they have now but I just don’t enjoy the whole process, although the peel and stick is tempting!
I completely agree with you. The modern farmhouse with the fake distressed look are going out I’ve noticed. Replaced with more Boho style/Ikea look with natural wood. Now I’m starting to see the trend with influencers switching to mid century, sort of dark tone furniture with “antique” looking decorations. I gave up following the trend bc it’s expensive to switch out and the thrift stores are full of stuff already that people got rid off. Not following the trend has actually made me happy and content with my home.
I have wallpaper in almost every room in my house. It's been 20 years and I still love it. I chose mostly neutral colors so I can change decor with the seasons.
I have used both kinds of wallpaper. I’m into peel and stick now for the reasons you said. It’s easy to remove if I wanted to. Although I don’t think I will for awhile. I did an accent wall in our half bath, and one bedroom, also grass cloth in our family room. All look great. You definitely should consider in your bathroom. I’m sure it will be stunning like everything you do.
I have had wallpaper in my cart trying to make up my mind. I love classic English Timeless Wallpaper. My childhood home had beautiful wallpaper in my bedroom especially and I still dream about that room. Soooo I found a classic English wallpaper that is ivory/green. It's a white hydrangea and green leaf 🍃 vine with an ivory background.....it's going on 1 wall in my entryway. Im so glad you convinced me to do it. It was a little pricey but doing a smaller space it helps make a statement without consuming the whole room or my wallet. I ordered an extra roll to be safe so I hope I have enough to line a cabinet or the laundry closet.
Wallpapered my bedroom and bathroom 37 years ago. Stripe in one room and coordinating floral in the other. Still up and I have never grown tired of them. Don't care if others think it is outdated.
I have experimented with almost every kind of wall coverings including wallpaper. I did the sponging and the painted stripes and the ombré. I’ve seen wallpaper come and go several times in my life and loved it but after 12 - 24 months I always get tired of it and it was always a pain to get the walls back to the original condition. Haven’t tried peel and stick, just the pre pasted, past the wall and paste the paper. The paste the wall was the easiest to use.
I used the peel and stick wallpaper in my dining room, and I absolutely loved it. It was easy to put up and if I decide that I am tired of that pattern in a few years, it will easily come down!
I have done it all, pasted and peel and stick. Recently I found a wallpaper which was not prepasted, but I put the recommended paste right on the wall. It was thick, not runny at all, not messy and so easy! Will never do it any other way!
A couple of things...be careful with peel and stick wallpapers. They are not all the same. My daughter chose a pattern for her laundry room in her new house. Thinking it would just come right off the walls she decided to go with a different pattern. Unfortuneately when she pulled the paper it litterally ripped the drywall apart. They had to have the walls resurfaced by a professional drywall person. It was a devastating event. I'm a fan of prepasted paper. Measure, cut, dip in water and then apply. Easy peasy! Secondly, I'll just say here that back in the late 90's wallpaper was very in vogue. I had it in nearly every room in my house. If I could get my hands on those same patterns today. I'd hang it all over again. So yes, choose timeless papers that you love and even if wallpaper it's self is in and out of vogue with the trends you'll still probably be happy to keep it through the years despite the trends. I think it gives a room a warmth and welcoming feel that you just can't get with paint alone.
Oh my goodness that's crazy! 😳 Sorry that happened to her, but thanks for sharing that helpful tip! And yes, ultimately choose whatever kind of wallpaper YOU love!! 🤗
Wall preparation is important too. Some folks installed wallpaper in the 90’s directly over drywall and that’s a huge no no without priming the drywall to seal it first. My home had wallpaper applied to bare walls, but it was built in 1918 so it has plaster and lath. Huge difference!
@@trinaroe5132 An excellent point! My daughter's walls were new drywall but they were primed and painted by the builders. Walls with any light texture to them should also have a layer underlayment paper put on before the pretty wallpaper goes on to get good adhesion and a smooth surface.
I love Andrea's tips. With paint it's easier, but wallpaper scares me. It's intimidating that you don't like it on a whole wall in a short time 😨😅. Thank you!!!! Blessings and much love ❤🥰🌹
I don't think I could EVER do wallpaper. Wallpaper is beautiful, HOWEVER, we have bought a couple of houses where they've used hideous wallpaper! We've seen where it has worn and curled over time. To remove it was a beast! It does not last forever.
I've used both, and would definitely use peel and stick! I Love it because I live in a rental, and if I ever move, I can take it down without ruining the walls! I'm looking for something timeless now for my kitchen in my rental, and my bathroom.😊👍
I suspect wallpaper is here to stay thanks to peel and stick. I am using the heck out of it now because I know I can remove a room full in 10 minutes if I get sick of it. You cannot beat that!
Always enjoy your videos Andrea. Love the beautiful patterns of wallpaper you've shown here. If viewers are not sure whether they want to bite off wallpaper since it can be expensive, challenging to put up, time consuming, and difficult to remove, they can consider using a stencil and paint to get the same feel or if the person wants stripes they can use tape and paint. This way the pattern can be lived with for a while to see how one feels about it. And if it's something someone grows tired of or they just don't like the look, it can quickly and easily be painted over. I'm planning to do a stencil project on the wall in my entry and/or kitchen soon and don't have to feel worried I won't like it when it's done. This also gives me the option to make the pattern as scattered or as dense as I want. - Angela
I love wallpaper. My husband, not so much, lol. However, we have used a tin tile textured paper to do our kitchen ceiling and a different tile pattern for the backsplash.
I made a few mistakes with wallpaper many years ago and learned from them. Your advice is right on. Started with the fads of the time, then switched to timeless stripes and a colorful timeless floral above a chair rail in the dining room for instant elegant decor. I agree that two color wallpapers like the ones you showed are very calming and less likely to "get old." Wallpaper can also be helpful in hiding uneven walls or tone down colors that are fighting each other. Example: dark wood cabinets and avocado kitchen appliances, countertops, and flooring. Yikes! That was my first condo, and I couldn't afford to renovate, so a garden trellis wallpaper with soft yellow flowers, shades of muted green (avocado) leaves and vines, and some wood tones on the one large wall pulled the dark brown and avocado colors together to make sense and tone it down.
As a major flora and fauna gal, I love wallpaper! I feel like it could feel a little busy if I did it in every room but you gave some great tips! Also, if you are really nervous, you can try out decals. They have come a long way. I have a fun tangerine and leaf wall in my laundry room with decals.
Dunno how many of you have textured drywall - it's most of what's done in new construction in Texas. I'm not sure I'm up for the sanding needed to have a smooth surface before the paper job even starts. But I'd absolutely love some paper otherwise
I’m sending this video to my mom. I have an old victorian farmhouse and have been having fun with wallcovering in this house (I’m also a commercial interior designer and much more adventurous than she is.) She always tells me she feels stuck in her color palettes and any deviation from her beige/green/burnt orange feels scary and wrong. I need help breaking her out of this mindset. 😊
I love wallpaper! I used a peel and stick wallpaper in our half bath and I like it, but I wish I would have gone with something more understated. I chose a floral pattern from Rifle Paper Co and it’s beautiful, but I wish it had more of a watercolor feel to it. Thankfully, it’s only on one wall, so it wouldn’t be a big deal to take it off and do another pattern
hey girl- loved the video😀😉 Thank you for the tips! I have never used wallpaper. But it does look tempting. Such pretty ideas. Maybe someday🤔 Y'all have a blessed weekend🥰
The problem…the Timeless Wallpaper I want I’d need a 2nd mortgage to afford it! I did splurge on Sanberg Raphael for my dining room, but used a wainscoting below to save money. And William Morris paper ❤ ❤ ❤ …just lovely 🥰
Hi Andrea, here from Michigan. I've always wanted to do wall paper but I get so nervous just thinking about doing it. Lol maybe Ile attempt my small guest bathroom, like a accent wall. Thanks for the tips.
Thank you for all your wonderful videos! I am actually a long time follower. My question for the peel and stick wallpaper is that the wall has to be %100 smooth. I have a tiny texture on my wall . Do you think it’d work or not? Thanks again
I am a little intimidated by it too. I just ordered some for a wall and if I don’t like it, I don’t know what I’ll do! 😂 It’s a small wall sooo..🤞🏻 Loved the video, Andrea.🫶🏻
Oh dear, lately I can’t even pick a paint color, how would I ever select a wallpaper?😘 I did do wallpaper in my kitchen years ago in my first house and I loved it. The person who lived there after me did not. In fact, they tore down the house and built a new one. I doubt it was because of my wallpaper choice though 😂. I do think wallpaper is one of those classics that goes away and re-emerges over time in a new form. It’s hard to really pinpoint what is timeless (although you showed some really nice ones) because even if the pattern is classic, colors go in and out of style.
I don't think wallpaper itself is a trend, but patterns come and go. In particular, very busy or very bright ones can become tired after a few years. I live in a 130 year old house but it has textured walls over lathe and plaster! So wish I could put up wallpaper in at least one room! It can be so warm and cozy.
Wallpaper , like paint is not set in stone. It can always be removed or redone to a different type. Its fun, its temporary if you want it to be. And as far as outdated.... everything we have or do now, will be outdated in 20 years. Colors and styles will always either evolve, or go retro and nostalgic. I personally feel , if your bed was on that window shuttered wall , that would be a perfect small space to try a small repetitive color and pattern. It wouldn't need much paper, so the cost would be minimal for such a great impact. And of course, the small bathroom would be a great way to dip your toe into the world of wallpaper.
I love wallpaper, but like you not the wilder faddish kind. For instance we'd rented a house one year that still had old foil wallpaper in the dining room. Yuck. But the ones you featured are all beautiful and timeless. I saw no difference in the peel and stick.
Hi! Sweet Andrea, I think wall paper is timeless. And I have be thinking of doing my mud room. Was so excited to see this video. I also am leaning towards peel and stick. Where did you purchase your peel and stick?
If you use real wallpaper, not peel and stick, place a wallpaper liner first- it not only helps to smooth the surface but allows easier removal of wallpaper.
Thank you for a very thoughtful post about wallpaper. You almost convinced me ;) But I lived through the 70's and 80's and still can't get that look out of my head! I don't think I'll choose to wallpaper but enjoy the look in other's homes. Thanks !
After twenty years of marriage, we put up striped wallpaper on half walls in our entryway. My husband threatened the “divorce” word, if I ever asked for wallpaper again. 😂Well it’s now 43 years of marriage and still no more wallpaper. I’m drooling Andrea, as they look stunning!
Wall paper is great and fun and being a seasoned paper hanger I wouldn’t suggest plaids or checks for a beginner. Those patterns require matching and can be really frustrating. I suggest small patterns such as florals and stripes although stripes can be tricky as well. After a beginner has mastered these then move on to something such as checks etc. to build confidence….great video otherwise.
In 30 years from now the styles of today will be out of popularity, too. If something lasts for 30 years…..it’s time for a change. Just wait for your daughter in law will think your home will need a change, too. It’s the rotation if life.
Okay bye!…Andrea has been here for a long time and it’s her first year doing this! Just fast forward! Have you ever heard of a JOB or people trying to work?
Andrea, you selected the prettiest wallpaper and rooms. I think you're right! If you pick a timeless pattern, you can truly love it for years to come.
Aww thank you!! You're absolutely right! 🤗
I’ve been turned off from most influencers lately except for this channel .. she’s sweet and and watching her is like having coffee with a friend
So sweet of you to say! Thank you!! 😄
Such a sweet comment
I feel the same way ❤

I love peel and stick wallpaper because I like to change it up and it doesn’t damage the walls
I just love wallpaper. If it is done right and not overwhelming it can be so cosy and warm and inviting. Looks lovely. God Bless.

I don't think I could EVER do wallpaper. Wallpaper is beautiful, HOWEVER, we have bought a couple of houses where they've used hideous wallpaper! We've seen where it has worn and curled over time. To remove it was a beast! It does not last forever.
Andrea I just love all the images you shared! I’ll have to look them up on your blog!!! Thanks for sharing! Enjoy Germany!!!
I think wallpaper is best for classic houses. If you live in an older home, it is a must.
I think that peel and stick is a great option! I'm pretty sure most is removable. I think wallpaer is timeless no matter which kind you choose!♥️
I have been wanting to do wallpaper for a while now just looking for something that I like ❤👍
I've used both, and would definitely use peel and stick! I Love it because I live in a rental, and if I ever move, I can take it down without ruining the walls! I'm looking for something timeless now for my kitchen in my rental, and my bathroom.😊👍
Love the visuals, very clear!
I suspect wallpaper is here to stay thanks to peel and stick. I am using the heck out of it now because I know I can remove a room full in 10 minutes if I get sick of it. You cannot beat that!
Right?! Haha It's such a great option in my opinion! 😄
❤ 🥰 checked Wallpaper❤🥰
As a major flora and fauna gal, I love wallpaper! I feel like it could feel a little busy if I did it in every room but you gave some great tips! Also, if you are really nervous, you can try out decals. They have come a long way. I have a fun tangerine and leaf wall in my laundry room with decals.
Just loved the look of the wallpaper, even the peel and stick looked great.
Thank you!! 😊
Dunno how many of you have textured drywall - it's most of what's done in new construction in Texas. I'm not sure I'm up for the sanding needed to have a smooth surface before the paper job even starts. But I'd absolutely love some paper otherwise
Yes, definitely a big decision to make!
Love wallpaper ❤❤❤
I’m sending this video to my mom. I have an old victorian farmhouse and have been having fun with wallcovering in this house (I’m also a commercial interior designer and much more adventurous than she is.) She always tells me she feels stuck in her color palettes and any deviation from her beige/green/burnt orange feels scary and wrong. I need help breaking her out of this mindset. 😊
Adorable I’m ready to try peel and stick!
Yes, that's the nice thing about peel and stick! If you don't end up liking it, it should be easier to remove!
hey girl- loved the video😀😉 Thank you for the tips! I have never used wallpaper. But it does look tempting. Such pretty ideas. Maybe someday🤔 Y'all have a blessed weekend🥰
I read in House Beautiful Magazine you’re either:
Blue or Green
Sweet or Salty
Floral or Geometric
I’m green, sweet and floral!
Love that! 😄
Hmmm. That's a hard one. Although cosy, a colour or pattern can date. I am inclined to just paint a wall.
I love William Morris wallpapers - timeless!
Yes!! 😀
This was very wise advice for people like myself who like wallpaper but are concerned about actually using it.
Happy it was helpful for you!! 😀
Thank you for all your wonderful videos! I am actually a long time follower. My question for the peel and stick wallpaper is that the wall has to be %100 smooth. I have a tiny texture on my wall . Do you think it’d work or not? Thanks again
What blue/gray paint color was on your nursery room board and batten (before you updated jt)? Thank you
I am a little intimidated by it too. I just ordered some for a wall and if I don’t like it, I don’t know what I’ll do! 😂 It’s a small wall sooo..🤞🏻
Loved the video, Andrea.🫶🏻
Thanks Sarah!! I bet it's going to look amazing! 😉
Thanks for the helpful feedback!! 🤗
I still have.nightmares about trying to remove wallpaper in my house. Never again!
Yay! I agree!! 🤗 We got ours from Home Depot! Heres the link: rstyle.me/+WMHxBmFs_rYMFNNswSORPg
Thanks!
Trendy
Andrea do you have an upstairs bathroom?
Yes, we have a master bathroom upstairs!
I needed to have a fuller picture of my dream house lol. Thank you so much for answering my question 🙏
timeless
If you use real wallpaper, not peel and stick, place a wallpaper liner first- it not only helps to smooth the surface but allows easier removal of wallpaper.
Thank you for a very thoughtful post about wallpaper. You almost convinced me ;) But I lived through the 70's and 80's and still can't get that look out of my head! I don't think I'll choose to wallpaper but enjoy the look in other's homes. Thanks !
Taking it off the walls is why most people don't want to put it on.
I do like wallpaper. But it dates faster and it never comes off easy at lea s t not for me. Much easier to change the paint color. And its cheaper!
After twenty years of marriage, we put up striped wallpaper on half walls in our entryway. My husband threatened the “divorce” word, if I ever asked for wallpaper again. 😂Well it’s now 43 years of marriage and still no more wallpaper. I’m drooling Andrea, as they look stunning!
wallpaper was beautiful until it had to be removed it was hard work
Wall paper is great and fun and being a seasoned paper hanger I wouldn’t suggest plaids or checks for a beginner.
Hard to match wallpaper to carpet
*beadboard😅
OK, I'm unsubscribing here. Getting fed up with the sales pitches....
Okay bye!…Andrea has been here for a long time and it’s her first year doing this! Just fast forward! Have you ever heard of a JOB or people trying to work?
