- Jenn Tran, who appeared on Joey Graziadei's season of 'The Bachelor,' will now become the first Asian American lead on 'The Bachelorette.' The big announcement came on March 25, shortly after Joey's time as the Bachelor ended with his breakup from Daisy Kent and subsequent engagement to contestant Kelsey Anderson.

Everyone’s so nasty in the comments but I’m actually really excited for her. I liked her on Joeys season, I thought she was super sweet and quirky. I thought they had a really strong connection…maybe just physically…on the show, but gotta give the girl a chance.

Before anyone jumps on my back, first of all, I think it’s fantastic to have the first Asian bachelorette. But I have to say, when they announced her, I was like, “who?” She was just forgettable to me. I couldn’t really remember her. I’m hoping that I’m wrong and she’ll be great but yeah, I was a bit disappointed.

I feel like they only picked her because they had heat on them to select an asian lead finally ,and they didnt actually pick her because shed be good television TPTB disappoint once again.

I find it fascinating how many white viewers only get upset if someone other than white is chosen as next lead. Whenever a non-white is chosen, the first thing that many white viewers say is "Well, she only got picked cause she's black or Asian" when the same could actually be said about a white lead who's chosen. There have been literally been 7 non "full white" Bachelorettes/Bachelorette Leads (Juan Pablo, Matt, Tayshia, Rachel, Charity, Michelle, & now Jen) out of the entire franchise since the show started 22 years ago. Matt gets credit for being the first black male lead but he's half white and so is Michelle so they shouldnt count as a "black" lead. Why not be happy that another race has representation? It's like some white viewers are only happy if every lead is full white because they might find it hard to connect with a lead who doesn't look like them, so imagine how non-white viewers might feel after nearly 25 years of very little representation as a Lead. It's like some white people are only happy if they have 100% of the opportunities. They don't even want to share and get mad if 7 out of 100 opportunities goes to someone other than them. You still got 93% of the opportunities and still never satisfied with that.
She’s going to be on a reality show. It’s not like she’s heading for the moon .
It’s 2024 and being the first Asian after 21 season. After 21 years and you couldn’t even have an Asian person? This show is such trash TV that people need to stop watching.
Right! Asians take up most of the human population. You’d think they would have been smart enough to tap into that audience a long time ago.

She’s absolutely gorgeous but I feel like TPTB didn’t prepare her enough. She seems so awkward and nervous. It doesn’t help that they didn’t give her a favorable edit either. now people are just screaming about her being a DEI pick. I hope her season turns out really well regardless

Always got the same impression. She was so overly confident with Joey till she realized that he wasn’t into her like she thought he was. And the way she dissed him low key by saying she wanted someone with personality. Poor taste

Like Daisy, I'm sure she was considered and was asked - but I think we can all agree not everyone wants to be the Bachelorette - regardless if they know they're ready or not. It's still a choice on both the woman and ABC.
