I've seen The WHO live several times. This is one band that will kick your ass and come back and kick it some more. The first time we were sitting in a dark theatre, when suddenly the blast of a loud guitar almost blew me out of my seat. Next, Pete comes sliding across the stage on his knees banging his guitar on the floor as the lights came on. My hair stood up for a week.

John Bonham, while a fine drummer, wasn't anywhere near Keith Moon in abilities or personality. Moon at 17 was acknowledged to be the fastest drummer in the world. He only got better as he aged, until he flamed out, OD'd and died. He might not have been the greatest. Maybe Ginger Baker should get that nod. The 60s saw many genius drummers emerge.

The Who are, imho, one of the top ten bands of all time. They are spoken of in the same breath as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Segar, ect. They have a HUGE catalog of killer songs. As with many top tier bands, all of the members are considered to be among the best players in rock history. That little intro bit you recognized is most likely from TV. The Who revised this song and created the intro for the show CSI. And later went on to also write and perform the intros for CSI: New York and CSI Miami. 😮😅 However, I don't know if the latter were also revised songs or original works. But just guessing, I think Who are You was serendipity and the other two were written specifically for the shows. As always, loved your reactions!! 😊❤❤

I never belittle anyone for not having heard classic rock. You can’t help when you were born or that music has devolved catastrophically since the 60s and 70s. I’m just glad to see you discovering it now and allowing me to share the experience with you. I was truly blessed to grow up during the golden age of music. Watching and listening as you hear these songs for the first time is like going back to the first time I heard them. You are why rock and roll will never die. When your time comes, be sure to pass the torch on to your kids and grandkids. Much love ❤️

Pete Townsend actually has permanent hearing loss because he didn't wear ear protection when performing. He has tinnitus which is constant ringing in the ears.

The Who are considered the godfathers of punk rock, hard and progressive rock. Many bands that followed were heavily influenced. Keith Moon ,drummer,John Erstwhile, bass guitarist,Pete Townsend lead guitarist main songwriter vocalist, and frontman harmonica player Roger Daltrey are considered some of the GOATS and the best in each of their respective roles. So to answer your question the drummer is one of the greatest drummers ever!

I have 2 books, one written by Pete and one written by Geoffrey Guiliano that cover Pete's life from childhood till just a few years ago. Both are amazing reads if you want to learn about all the members and their music. Pete(who I think is brilliant) was an absolutely tortured soul when it came to his musical experiments. Trying to get the sequencers programmed properly, live or in studio, is just one of the the imperfect things musically that he wanted to be perfect. He worked on it till he got what he was looking for. Genius.

Interesting video, it shows the way the song was built in the studio in several passes adding layers of sound. They wear headphones to play along with the previously recorded parts. This song is from 1978 when punk rockers were calling acts like The Who "dinosaurs". The verses tell the story of the hardships and low parts of their growth, and the chorus points at the punk rockers and asks "Who Are You" (what have YOU done?).

Keith Moon is always in a he top 2, 3, or 5 rock drummers of all time. He’s #1 on my list. Energy, energy, energy. He played with the singer and guitar. The bassist, John Entwistle played lead almost - always playing a counter melody, while Pete Townshend invented the power chords. Roger had to scream to be heard. All 4 thought they were the lead, and yet it worked (really well). Almost like Dixieland when all the instruments solo at the same time.

Keith Moon is the greatest drummer of all time (I've been playing for 42 years, so I sorta know what I'm talking about), John Entwistle, bass player, was voted, and is generally regarded as the greatest bass player of all time, Pete Townshend pretty much invented power chords, first used feed back (deliberately !) and his rhythm playing allowed John Entwistle to play, in effect, lead; and Roger Daltrey can Really sing - check out Won't Get Fooled Again, live at Shepperton. The essence of rock music, and greatest live band in Rock history, xxx

Oh man, y'all are in for a treat! It is so fun watching people listen to these classic rock bands for the first time. The drummer, Keith Moon, was renowned for not only his musical prowess but his crazy antics. He's among the top three drummers; Neal Peart of Rush is probably the best (nicknamed the Professor) right along John Bonham of Led Zeppelin. With his band mates Roger Daltry, John Entwhistle & Pete Townsend, The Who gave us some timeless albums chock full of bangers. Keep going down this boulevard of phenomenal songs!

Amongst the very best bands from the 60s who grew in the 70s to superstar status that is well earned. Their album Who's Next is full of huge hits like Baba O'Reilly, Behind Blue Eyes and Won't Get Fooled Again, all classic tunes that you will love. They also have 2 Concept Albums with stories to tell with magnificent rock and brilliant production that are best heard as the entire album, pick a weekend night when you are home, dim the lights and put on Tommy and/or Quadrophenia and grab your favorite way of relaxing. Sit back with your headphones and get lost in some of the best music ever composed. Some of their best known songs from them are Pinball Wizard and Love Reign O'er Me. If you want a total rock jam thrill, for audio do from their Live at Leeds album, the My Generation jam, 15 minutes of arguably the best live segment of a classic live hard rock you will ever hear, the interplay between the instruments is mesmerizing and as powerful as it got back then. You can see them live from that era on You Tube at Woodstock, the Isle of Wight and Tanglewood from 1969/70. Incredible stuff that has stood the test of time and is still loved today. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

Word of mouth about this HEAVY sound coming out of The Who's recording section made Paul approach John and the guys to write something heavy themselves. The result was Helter Skelter!!! Just a cool little factoid that's out there!!!
And Keith Moon was considered a crazy assed but skilled drummer. He was the inspiration for Jim Henson creating Animal!!! 🤘😝🤘
