You hear the soft voice of Roger Daltrey as well the lion-like roar of Daltrey in that song as Roger puts on a vocal clinic for the ages. The drumming by Keith Moon is off the charts. I adore "Love Reign O'er Me." It's not my favorite Who song, but it's up there, and I can't fault the taste of anyone who ranks it a bit higher than I do.
Favorite. Way back when, I’d choreographed a figure skating routine to it. For me, the song just screamed spins and jumps. 😂 Beautiful piece of music. 💜💜💜
Rumored to have been talking to Robert Plant and Jimmy Page before the dawn of Zeppelin, as they were pissed off with Pete and Roger (again) and thinking about leaving The Who and joining the “New Yardbirds”. Supposedly Keith Moon was the one who commented about this possible defection that it would go over like a lead zeppelin. Hence the name.
@@dggydddy59 YEP! Rob and Amber, you need to do Won't Get Fooled again, it is one of the greatest rock songs of all time and one of the best REACTION songs ever. Hearing it for the first time is an experience you will never forget. VERY IMPORTANT: do not, do not, DO NOT PAUSE the song. Am I right?
Who has such a legacy and 3 distinct styles from different eras. 60s stuff like My Generation, 70s rock like Won’t Get Fooled Again and Who Are You (released 7 years apart) and the 80s style of Imminence Front. So many other great songs! Love Reign On Me is my favorite you need to react to.
Keith Moon is the Drummer, the top 5 easy of rock and roll drummers. Another sweet soul we lost too soon. Hit up Biography or Behind the Scenes on the Who's story. Well worth the watch. Thanks for all you do!
You really should check out the video of them recording this amazing song in the studio. Keith Moon’s wild drumming was an extension of his wild persona.
The Who were an INCREDIBLY talented band. First, "THAT DRUMMER" you mention is the late Keith Moon, undeniably one of the best drummers (and craziest human beings) who has EVER lived. Second, the man on the bass guitar is the late John Entwistle, regarded by many as one of the greatest bass players of all time. On lead guitar you have crazy talented Pete Townshend, who was the principal songwriter and did violently entertaining windmill moves with his guitar before smashing it all over the stage. (Look up the videos). And finally, you have Roger Daltry, who I still maintain is one of the best rock vocalists of all time. Thanks for your reaction! More WHO, please!!
Overall one of the most talented bands of all time. Moon and Entwistle were pure gods. Daltry and Townsend weren't quite at that level as far as raw talent was concerned, but Daltry makes up for it with his unique and powerful voice, and Townsend makes up for with the ridiculous songwriting abilities.
This was the intro song to CSI, CSI New York had “Baba O’riley” and CSI Miami had “Won’t get fooled again” I believe, so all The Who songs. There is an incredible “music video” with footage from the recording of this song that you should really watch.
This song has kind of a funny story: Pete Townshend had just come out of an exhausting meeting with record executives over The Who's royalties, and even though he got what the band was entitled to, he felt totally demoralized by the experience and went on a drinking binge to get it out of his system. Waking up in a Soho doorway and a police officer letting him go because he recognized him really happened. The funny part of the story is he ran into the Sex Pistols over the course of his binge, and they were legitimately concerned with how drunk and despondent he was. Just the idea of Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious patting Townshend on the back going "It's gonna be okay man" just cracks me up.
What makes the story even funnier/sadder is that Townshend THOUGHT it was Johnny Rotten, but it was actually Steve Jones and Paul Cook, the guitarist and drummer. Pete just assumed if there were two Sex Pistols there, one of them must be Johnny Rotten. So he was embarrassed, which made him extra pissed, and he staggered out and passed out shortly thereafter.
@@kevinmac1989 he was demonstrating how easy it was to get to those sites and how ineffective the policing measures at the time were at stopping them. He's an outspoken opponent of the exploitation of children, it's a recurring theme in his music. The man's innocent.
The Who has one of the 5 greatest drummers of all time and quite possibly the best bass player of all time. Combine those with Townsend's song writing and Daltry's voice and you get an amazing band.
Certainly one of the best bass players ever...that's for sure...but you also have to consider Geddy Lee, John Paul Jones.....possibly your top 3 right there....and then you have players like Flea and Michael Anthony, who probably don't quite get the recognition they deserve....and that's without going into jazz! Some years ago, John Entwhistle held a bass clinic here in my hometown at a local music store.
On the album cover---Keith is on a chair that reads----Not to be taken away---And passes away after releasing this record. That always haunted me. Love you guys. Keep listening.
Each different CSI series uses a different Who song as a theme song. All highly remixed. Their very best is Love Reign O'er Me. Keith Moon. The Loon. Watch their live performances of A Quick One from The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus.
One of the greatest bands of all time! Keith Moon is my favorite drummer. John Entwistle on bass. Best rhythm section ever. You should definitely watch the video for this one! It’s a lot of fun. Also, check out the live version of A Quick One While He’s Away from Rock ‘n’ Roll Circus. It’s a masterpiece and such an epic performance to watch.
I always tell people, 'Everything you’ve heard about Alice Cooper , you can believe maybe 40 percent of it. Everything you’ve ever heard about Keith Moon is true - and you’ve only heard 10 percent of it - Alice Cooper
“Moon the Loon”, the manic maestro. Only got to see him once, but the sound he put out from a basic drum kit totally outdid his replacements Kenny Jones (Faces) and Simon Kirk (Free, Bad Company) who I both saw live as well. Both are incredible drummers. Moon was simply better.
The Who were another example of band mates that didn't get along making incredible music together. Soooo many great songs! You should listen to Love Reign O'er Me and Behind Blue Eyes. Brilliant!
Sadly, Keith Moon has left us all behind, but the incomparable talent he graced us with will live on forever. He was a pretty amazing character, and was the man who gave Led Zeppelin their name. RIP Mr. Moon 🌝
There's a natural high you get blasting this song in a classic car with the top down. Thanks for bringing it on with your video - brings back good times!
One of the greatest bands ever to record a song or set foot on stage. If you like the angry man persona Roger cooks up for the vocal, you could have a listen to a track of theirs from the Who's Next album "Behind Blue Eyes". Who's Next is also the album that "Baba O'Reilly" and "Wont Get Fooled Again' come from. Just listen and get lost into the whole album. You will NOT regret it. ♥
When I first heard this song on the radio way back in 79 or 80 the radio stations I listened to played an edited or censored for radio play version. Another song around the very same time was Charlie Daniels Devil Went Down To Georgia & the only version I heard on radio then had lyrics "I done told you once you son of a gun" instead of the exact same song only not edited that I heard 20 years later that says "S.O.B." I abbreviated here.
Yep, I first noticed it on the radio ~35 years ago when I was old enough to listen to music not sung by cartoon characters, two f-bombs! No idea how they get away with this.... but love The Who!
Seeing Keith Moon on the drums live in concert is a must. He was one of the best drummers and is even funny the way he does his drumming. He is a one of a kind drummer that you must see in one of The Who's live performances. I even think they did a song on video in the studio and it was just focused on him.
Pete Townsend is a genius. He writes all the music on every album. They use other songs on CSI as well as this one. I'm not sure you have heard "Won't Get Fooled Again" but it is heavily used on CSI. Great Reaction
You really need to see their live performance. It's like watching one cool laid back guy (Bassist John Entwistle) and three ADHD adults...yet the sound is amazing!
Title track of the 1978 album. the last album before drummer Keith Moon's death. The piano part is played by Rod Argent from The Zombies. You should try Pinball Wizard next. Also try Time of the Season by The Zombies.
He died only one month after the album was released. You can see the album cover! He is sitting on a chair that says "Not to be taken away." The irony!
Keith Moon was the drummer. He and John Bonham (drummer for Led Zeppelin) are two of the top ten greatest rock drummers of all time. They were both brilliant, but crazy. And may they both Rest in Peace.
They did the soundtrack for the movie Tommy. Elton John played The pinball wizard. Worth listening to the entire track. Based on their album Tommy. Sure plays a mean pinball~~~
This song was the theme song of CSI. The theme song of CSI:Miami was We Won't Get Fooled Again. The theme song of CSI:New York was Baba O'Riley. They even had a fake CSI show made on Two and a Half Men where the theme song was Mamma's Got a Squeeze Box.
You should check out the official video for this song showing them performing it in the studio. You will love watching crazy Keith Moon going nuts on the drums!
The drummer Keith moon was one of rocks larger than life characters everyone from that era has a story about him usually sounding too bizarre to be true but they actually happened the biggest wild child ever
Congratulations to both of you for recognizing The Genius of Keith Moon's drumming. Keith Moon was considered one of, if not THE greatest rock and roll drummer of all time. Unfortunately we lost him shortly after this album was released. If you look at the cover picture on the album he's the one who is sitting on the chair, and the irony is that that chair says "not to be removed"... I remember buying this album the week it came out, and how devastated I was when I heard the news about Keith. He is sorely missed. And Amber the other place you recognize the song from (other than CSI) is the cartoon movie "Horton Hears a Who". You have three kids I'm sure you've seen it😉
Someone may already have mentioned it, but the part J thinks is acoustic guitar is actually John Entwhistle playing the bass. He was criminally underrated as a player.
Yes! ‘Who are you?’ Excellent rockin’ choice! Their whole Quadrophenia album is great… ‘love Rein on me’, ‘behind Blue eyes’….. soooo awesome! The show where they do forensics… CSI. (Crime scene investigations or such)
"Who are You" is my ringtone! Saw The Who with and without Keith Moon. Opening to "Pinball Wizard", Keith is standing on his drums, yes, the drums twirling his sticks and then pointing them at Jon when he hits his opening to the song...AWESOME!
In my opinion, you have to watch Keith Moon when The Who played “My Generation” at Monterey Pop to get a sense of his ridiculous skills in motion. Boy hit the snare so hard he broke a stick… didn’t even faze him. And there were some fills that were silly-hard. It was masterful. Oh, and then the end of the song… yah… 😉
When he played Substitute at the same show, he did one of his most awesome stick tricks. During the break, he grabbed a handful of sticks and counted off the quarter notes by bouncing sticks off the tom, and they flew off spinning 10 feet in the air. Then he magically had two sticks left and never missed a beat. The audience went nuts. You can find the video here on YT.
Back in the day when we actually had groups and the lead singers were rock gods. The drummer is not just any drummer but Keith Moon. Jay and Amber, I think you would enjoy the "Tommy" movie with lead singer Roger Daltrey as Tommy and two of your favorites Elton John as the Pinball Wizard and Tina Turner as the Acid Queen. It's based on the Who's album of the same name.
@@Waterloosunset2 I disagree, I think the movie was incredible. I will forever think of Ann Margaret as Roger Daltry's mother. The only bad casting choice was Oliver Reed.
John Entwistle, bassist for The Who, voted bassist of the millennium, called the ox and thunderfingers. Atlanta 2000 John Entwistle solo. You’ll watch it more than once
The Who is my favourite band and it is amazing to 'watch' others 'hear' what I've enjoyed for - 44 years! The drummer is Keith Moon. He's the guy in the chair. ('not to be taken away') He died 3 weeks after the album was released. You guys are great. Peace.
Aw, that was a joy to watch! What a great Who song! You guys reacted and appreciated it so perfectly! By the way, if you want to hear a utterly mind-blowing song on the DRUMS, you should listen to their song called "Bargain"!! Keith Moon, the drummer, just goes OFF on that song! Total, full-on drummer onslaught! Check it out!
I remember when i was a kid back when that whole British invasion thing was happening The Who was a big part of it . The first time i heard Keith Moon's drumming on their song " Happy Jack " my mind was blown !!!
That magical, manically crazed drumming, Keith Moon ( RIP). This is one of the best rock albums ever, period .I grew up on this stuff , and Led Zepplin, etc.
Great song off the last album with Keith Moon still on drums. To see the original WHO in complete flight, try the My Generation jam off of Live at Leeds, it is an absolutely legendary performance! Great choice, the WHO is always worth a listen, Enjoy! 🎸
The Who's last studio album with the Late GREAT Drummer KEITH MOON...RIP. Brilliant Drumming and Brilliant Song written by Pete Townshend. LOVE IT...Newk from Kentucky
The difference between the louder and softer parts is called "dynamics" in music and very few have used them as effectively in their songwriting as Pete Townsend. In 2001 a benefit concert (The Concert for New York City) was organized by Paul McCarntney for the victims, their families and the first responders following the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. The Concert was like a who's who of popular artists including The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Elton John, James Taylor and many others. Other celebrities spoke between the acts. It was a very moving Concert. First responders and people who had been in the towers during the attacks and victim's families were given seats in the front rows. In most people's opinions (including mine) The Who stole the show. One of their most powerful performances, and their songs "Who Are You" and "Won't Be Fooled Again" took on a whole new meaning. I think the concert may be on RUclips, but you should watch it, even if you have to buy the DVD I guarantee you'll be glad you did.
The Who are simply my favorite rock band. They have been since I got their rock opera "Tommy" and "Who's Next" when I joined the Columbia Record Club in the early 70s. Too many favorite songs to mention. So I'll just mention a few I don't see too often. "Long Live Rock", "Join Together", "5:15", "The Music Must Change" and a few songs written by bassist John Entwistle, "One at a Time", "My Wife" and "The Quiet One"(Still waters run deep, so be careful I don't drown you). Also, Roger Daltry starred in a movie called "McVicar" and sang several songs on the soundtrack. One I can't get enough of is called "My Time is Gonna Come".
This song used to be my ring-tone, "Who Are You" for years. If you want to be blown away by The Who check out 'The Real Me'. You may not know the name of the Who's bassist, but after listening to this song you will.
Keith Moon is the drummer. He passed in 1978 at the age of 32. He blew up his drumset on the Ed Sullivan Show. He was the craziest drummer ever and that's what everyone loves about him
it was actually the Smothers Brothers show where he blew up his drum kit! it was a real bomb, Pete's hair caught fire and he had permanent hearing damage. They're lucky someone didn't die. He knew how to make his own bombs and he loved blowing up hotel toilets. No toilet was safe from him.
it's CSI Las Vegas. Baba O'Reily and Won't get Fooled again are used on the other CSIs. The songs came out about 25 or 30 years before the TV shows

I agree. "Love Reign O'er Me" would be a great choice -- it's unlike any other Who song.
Pearl Jam covered this awesome masterpiece also, and did an amazing job ❤❤
Love the whole Quadrophenia album and it's beach vibe feeling. "The Punk and the Godfather" is my favorite.
Keith Moon was one of the great classic rock drummers of the era. Hands down unconventional and unique and unreproducible! RIP
Not just the era, instead EVER!
Keith Moon on the drums, this band shook up things with their music, simply awesome stuff from a period of simply awesome music..🍺😎
One of the greatest Rhythm sections the world has ever known Keith Moon on drums and John Entwistle on bass
100%
One of Moon's last great performances.
To be fair, although classically bass is a rythm instrument, Thunderfingers played it like a lead instrument. That's a testment to how great he was
....the "stereo headphone effect" from left and then to right and back again..
That's the icing on the cake; it's a feast for the ears throughout!!
"pinball wizard", "you better you bet", and "love reign o'er me" are other great songs by The Who
Would love to see you guys check out Love Reign O'er Me
"Reign O'er Me!" Is a must! Pay attention to the intro though! Fabulous drums!!!
Literally endless songs from one of the most gifted 4 musicians ever. Top 5 all time bands, if not the greatest.
Have you done The Who "Love, Reign O'er Me" yet? THAT is absolutely a MUST hear, from their rock opera Quadrophenia.
Apparently they have not done that OR Won't Get Fooled Again. They have absolutely no idea what they are in for.
CSI i think is where you all heard it
@@loosilu Aha! Amber will just freak over either one! Cheers!
Am I right?
There she goes!! The Amber Sway! Eyes closed, lost in the music. Appreciation of the artistry being performed.
you can tell she's feeling it!
I had the honor of seeing The Who live (twice), the best was Shea Stadium 1982, with The Clash as their warm-up band, epic!
Very 70s ... Aug of I978 RELEASED ,
I was their.awesome
Who has such a legacy and 3 distinct styles from different eras. 60s stuff like My Generation, 70s rock like Won’t Get Fooled Again and Who Are You (released 7 years apart) and the 80s style of Imminence Front. So many other great songs! Love Reign On Me is my favorite you need to react to.
“Love Reign O’er Me” is a classic, and the “anchor” song of their 2nd rock opera “Quadrophenia”.
Eminence Front is such a great song.
Pete Townsend is an awesome guitarist. Has busted up more guitars than anyone ever !!
THis drummer Kieth Moon), was Niel Pert's (Rush) Fasvorite and who he idolized (he said so himself).
Some other songs from The Who to check out: Behind Blue Eyes, Love Reign O’er Me, 5:15, and Squeeze Box, a personal fav.
Keith Moon is the Drummer, the top 5 easy of rock and roll drummers. Another sweet soul we lost too soon. Hit up Biography or Behind the Scenes on the Who's story. Well worth the watch. Thanks for all you do!
You need to watch the video of them in the studio singing this song. It's a MUST watch video!!!
Also look for the Rockumentary The Kids are All Right.
You really should check out the video of them recording this amazing song in the studio. Keith Moon’s wild drumming was an extension of his wild persona.
That's what I say! Same with Won''t get Fooled Again. Should have used the movie clips!!
Keith had to tape his headset onto his hat so it wouldn’t fly off while he was drumming! That is a good video.
The TV show you're thinking of is CSI. Great song, and great reaction. Next on your Who list needs to be "Love, Reign O'er Me".
Man, seeing it through your eyes, or hearing it through your ears, makes it new for me again. Blessings.
Where was every one in 1978 when this came out ?
@@theodoreritola7641 I was in middle school.
This was the intro song to CSI, CSI New York had “Baba O’riley” and CSI Miami had “Won’t get fooled again” I believe, so all The Who songs.
There is an incredible “music video” with footage from the recording of this song that you should really watch.
At ruclips.net/video/PNbBDrceCy8/видео.html I do believe.
they made some much needed dough with that connection
LOL!
Ifthe first thing I saw after waking up was Sid Vicious, I would stop drinking.
@@Oxmustube 🤣
I was lucky enough to have seen The Who three times live. They were moments in time I will never forget.
The Who has one of the 5 greatest drummers of all time and quite possibly the best bass player of all time. Combine those with Townsend's song writing and Daltry's voice and you get an amazing band.
Every band member is top five.
@@loosilu Zeppelin will always be my favorite band but I will always think that The Who is the best.
@@kdm71291 no Jack Bruce in there? 😂
@@kdm71291 Don't forget Chris Squire of Yes. A big influence on a young Geddy Lee. Paul McCartney is also a great bass player
On the album cover---Keith is on a chair that reads----Not to be taken away---And passes away after releasing this record. That always haunted me. Love you guys. Keep listening.
This was the lead in music for the CSI series. Keith Moon was their drummer. He died tragically. He was a GOAT. 🙏🏻💜
"The Real Me". The isolated bass and drums track alone is enough by itself. More The Who please!
Each different CSI series uses a different Who song as a theme song. All highly remixed.
Their very best is Love Reign O'er Me.
Keith Moon. The Loon. Watch their live performances of A Quick One from The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus.
It's freaking brilliant! He looks like the love child of a figure skater and a jackhammer.
Join Together and Athena are great Who songs. I saw them live in 1975 in Baton Rouge when I was 14 years old, Love them!!!!
Alice Cooper is an AMAZING story teller. Ketih Moon stories are always EPIC, and no one tells them like Alice.,
Here him tell some Keith Moon stories here ruclips.net/video/mRnwzOPPLdQ/видео.html
“Moon the Loon”,
the manic maestro.
Only got to see him once, but the sound he put out from a basic drum kit totally outdid his replacements Kenny Jones (Faces) and Simon Kirk (Free, Bad Company) who I both saw live as well.
Both are incredible drummers.
Moon was simply better.
I've read like Keith Moon biographies. Alice was understating things.
Barroom floor is the best description of Daltrey's voice I've ever heard.
The Who were another example of band mates that didn't get along making incredible music together. Soooo many great songs!
You should listen to Love Reign O'er Me and Behind Blue Eyes. Brilliant!
THIS! ^^^^^^^^
5:15 Out of my brain on the train!

Sadly, Keith Moon has left us all behind, but the incomparable talent he graced us with will live on forever. He was a pretty amazing character, and was the man who gave Led Zeppelin their name.
RIP Mr. Moon 🌝
He graduated from here to Rock and Roll Heaven.
they have not heard WGFA!!!!!!
Great songs, but to think they haven't been heard would require them having come here from Mars.
IT'S the theme music from the original CSI crime show series . They also did a rock opera about a deaf pinball phenom named Tommy . Great song.
Yes it was used for the show but the song was released 22 years before the show began
The CSI franchise also used 'Won't Ge Fooled Again' and 'Baba O'Riley' as theme music for CSI Miami and CSI NY.
This is one the few hit songs in which the artist gets away with an "f-bomb" without being bleeped. ;)
yrp, it was played on the radio! I remember!
Moonie was an INCREDIBLE showman, he flowed over the drums like water. You cannot begin to understand the Who until you have seen them live.
I think it was this song in that video!
Also "Hold Your Head Up" by Argent.
Keith Moon was the drummer. He and John Bonham (drummer for Led Zeppelin) are two of the top ten greatest rock drummers of all time. They were both brilliant, but crazy. And may they both Rest in Peace.

And Neil Peart from Rush.
Dino Danelli from the Young Rascals made Moon look slow.

The drummer Keith moon was one of rocks larger than life characters everyone from that era has a story about him usually sounding too bizarre to be true but they actually happened the biggest wild child ever
We've never even heard his craziest stories. He is the prototype of the wild rock star.
Absolutely legendary. The Who had one of the best overall stage presences in rock history.
Underrated? He usually comes in at or near the top of most best bass player lists.
I was going to mention that same thing if nobody else had, so I'm glad you did!
There’s a live studio version of this floating around on RUclips. We’ll worth a watch. Keith Moon’s drumming outstanding.
CSI Intro Song 🔥🔥🔥

The Hollies - The Air That I Breathe
Keith Moon (drummer) was legendary when it comes to fills. May he rest in peace.
The drummer was the one and only KEITH MOON! This was his last recording, because he died in the same year wich this album was released, 1978.
To me Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend were the perfect singer songwriter. Pete was born to write songs and Roger was born to sing them
Yet they have trouble staying in the same hotel while on the road. They actually hate each other.
It’s Townshend
Back in the day when we actually had groups and the lead singers were rock gods. The drummer is not just any drummer but Keith Moon. Jay and Amber, I think you would enjoy the "Tommy" movie with lead singer Roger Daltrey as Tommy and two of your favorites Elton John as the Pinball Wizard and Tina Turner as the Acid Queen. It's based on the Who's album of the same name.
The whole ‘Tommy’ album is a masterpiece of rock opera.
@@carolinekennedy3689 Agreed. It's a true piece of art. The movie, on the other hand, is cringeworthy.

Got to see them live in the 80’s. Considered the loudest live band at the time. It was awesome 👍
You should watch the promo video of them performing this in the studio in 1978 - it's funny and amazing!
That sonic explosion after the quiet section blows my mind every time!
This song used to be my ring-tone, "Who Are You" for years. If you want to be blown away by The Who check out 'The Real Me'. You may not know the name of the Who's bassist, but after listening to this song you will.
Bargain, Real Me and their other darker songs are my favorites. Who Are You is about the Sex Pistols specifically, and the punk movement of the 1970s.
