So im honestly curious here, been playing Pot for 8 months (the whole time ive played GGST) and im still wondering what canceling Hammerfall after certain attacks does. I sometimes do it out of habit, and i didnt research to do it or anythin, it just started happening. Like near 2:26, FAB cancels Hammerfall after Slash, and even at 3:20 he cancels Hammerfall after 5H; Is this a byproduct of Pot's playstyle, a fakeout, a setup to follow through with the attack or stall, or simply going back on the input?
Ends the animation faster so he can follow up on the wall with a stronger attack than if he hadn't; might also build a sliver of meter like Sol's gunflame feint but don't quote me on that
5H has nearly the same number of recovery frames as a Hammer Fall Brake (25 vs 27). HFB helps Pot maintain momentum for a mere 2 frames diff and also can threaten to carry that momentum with an RC. 2H has 35 frames of recovery so HFB actually cheats away some recovery.
I don't know if FAB quit playing GG for a while but ok he's absolutely destroyer. Thought he would still have some troubles dealing with matchups like every pro Pot players.

Since Potemkin is a grappler he's forced to take big risks on his own offence, and he can find it difficult to score a knockdown, he's also particularly vulnerable to a lot of the defensive systems in Guilty Gear (YRC, Faultless Defence, Bursts) while having pretty poor defence himself. Because of these things, and because its funny he gets an insane amount of damage off of Potemkin Buster.
Every Xrd character onwards's become nothing but autopressure/automixup characters with no thought behind them, Guilty Gear has fallen, millions must blame the beasts.

It’s just to move up quickly but safely. If he went further in there’s a chance elphelt could reversal and he’d get caught.

others have mentioned that it can be faster sometimes, but it also pulls back lingering hurtboxes from your normals.

Also he has one of the highest effective HP in the game. Which helps because his gameplay is risky.
