Reasons why I personally don’t think Elesa is Lacey’s mother. 1. Elesa, from what I’ve researched, never used Plusle and Minun. Plusle and Minun’s abilities, Plus and Minus, are specifically meant for double battles, hence why they were chosen out of the other Pokémon. Lacey herself even states she was using a Plus and Minus strategy. 2. While Lacey doesn’t resemble Clay, if we assume her mother is a character we haven’t seen before, then we could just say she takes after her mother. It’s like how Silver doesn’t look like Giovanni, so he must take after his mom who we don’t see. (And yes, I know Ariana exists, but she’s never confirmed to be Silver’s mother.) 3. Cyrano states that Lacey is the daughter of ONE of Unova’s Gym Leaders. I feel like he would’ve said two if Elesa was Lacey’s mother.
Ironically, her Plusle has Lightning Rod while Minun has Volt Absorb. Plus it's also due to them both being in the Fairy egg group and Fairy is her specialty (Galarian Slowbro and Excadrill are both the exceptions).

there's a character we see all the time: pokemon center nurses. Consistently pink haired, even the ones who didn't become actual nurses. (like jessie and Mollie in the anime) uses Fairies, or pokemon related to healing, which tangentally relates to Fairies.
I'm still considering the possibility that Elesa is not mentioned as a gym leader by Cyrano because she retired *as a gym leader* .... because, considering what happened to Ingo, I imagine Emmet might not be able to function as a Subway Boss and thus *he* retired and Elesa took over the Battle Subway.
I think they're just saying about her influental father who just happens to be a Gym Leader, as Clay is still a business Tycoon and simply being a Gym Leader still won't make you as influental as Clay

Elesa is not the only model from Nimbasa, there is an entire trainer class of models that use electric types. It wouldn't make sense to mention her father is a gym leader but not her mother.
This is such a weird theory considering the DLC was very upfront about who was related to whom. It mentions Clay, it mentions Drayden, and it has a direct reference to Adaman's Leafeon. Lacey doesn't have a Zebstrika; no character in the game mentions her mother being a gym leader, and the only electric pokemon she uses were never used by Elesa. Elesa has as much chance of being Lacey's mom as Burgh has of being Amaris's father, since she uses a bug type on her team.
She likely uses Plusle and Minun because they're both part of the Fairy Egg Group. And also because their whole gimmick is about being played together in a Double Battle format (even if they're not the best at it).
Nembassa city is more of housing area, one of the big cities, it's shouldn't be surprised any character referring to it as the place they live in, maybe even clay lives there, but just got work in the city you meet him in.

We literally have a character in the game (Perrin), who shares similair traits with her ancestor (Adaman), that being the eyecolor (Brown) and the haircolor, even so many generations after the fact. This means that Lacey takes after her mother in terms of haircolor and eyecolor... ergo... it rules out Elesa.
Elesa is in her twenties and Clay is already past his forties. Those two have a professional relationship considering that they're both gym leaders. => So I seriously doubt they're a couple. Like seriously, that would be so gross.
The dialogue that Lacey's mother is a model is fake. If Elesa was Lacey's mother it would have been stated like Clay being her father. People be shipping whoever they want just cause she lives in Nimbasa city should mean that Elesa is her mother?,she's one of the most famous gym leaders of Unova they wouldn't just ignore her if this fan shipping was real.
I like the theory and I wish it could be real. There's just one problem I have, there's zero mention of Elesa, or anything mentioning Lacey's mother in the DLC. You would think that a famous model would be just as well-known as a mining tycoon, but apparently not. Still though, solid theory.

There's not much for her around Driftveil she can work with, so I'm sure Clay would never want to see her potential be wasted. And boy, did she discover a number of things outside of Driftveil... I'm sure she and Clay love each other as father and child. Even though they don't have much time to see each other, I'm sure they missed each other and wishing the best in their endeavors.

Here’s the problem with this in my opinion: Elesa seems to be implied to be in her early to mid 20s. This is evident by her hanging out with Skyla and Caitlin who are both also fairly young. Clay appears to be at least in his early to mid 30s. This implied by the way he talks to the player character through BW/BW2.
I don't think that matters too much considering we have Mustard and Honey's age gap. Plus there are couples irl with much bigger age gaps than someone in their 20s and 30s.

First time I saw Lacey I immediately thought of Tulip but I think her mother is either a random character we won't get to meet or will be a new character in a future game

There's never a mention of Leon (or anything Galar Champion for that matter) in Iris's Masters dialogues. It's a hoax that was spreading around years ago. But yeah, like manoftruth0935 said, it's somewhat believable.
I know everyone has been talking about this. However what I hardly see enough of is about Crispin. I believe that Crispin is related to Chili, the former Fire-type gym leader in Unova. Both are Fire specialist that loves to cook, especially spicy foods. As for Amarys, I honestly don’t know about her. The only steel specialist in Unova is Colress, and I highly doubt she is related to him.
No way Elesa hooked up with old man Clay lol. Clay most likely commutes to work(as Driftviel and Nimbasa are right next to eachother). And they definitely would've mentioned that both parents are gym leaders instead of one.

You know...pink hari, live in Nimbasa...I that'll be more connected
My problem is with this theory is the age gap. Elesa is too young to have a daughter as old as Lacey. If she were to have a kid, they would be the age of a youngster or preschooler. Not a lass.
I mean, Elesa seems to be in her early to mid 20s during BW and the remakes. We don't know how long SV takes place after Gen 5. I'm not supporting the theory but it could still be possible. Just not very likely.

The only way they could confirm it is in the anime. I'm pretty sure when BW 2 released, they both are not married yet but maybe later they do. And 12 years later, we got introduced to lacey.
While I like this little theory, and it does show, I still hold the belief that Clay married a regular person and settled down a little after some Gym Leader duties. It makes sense, and Lacey does have more features that are Clay like in her way of expression, and simply because she lives in Nimbasa City and have Plusle and Minun doesn't really provide much strong evidence. She could be a fan of Elesa that's for sure.

There’s no direct allusion to Lacey’s mother, which is egregious considering Elesa’s popularity; why only refer to one gym leader as her parent? Plusle and Minun are mentioned, but they’re the principal double battle mascot. Elesa has never used them, and Zebstrika or Eelektross would’ve made a better reference. Some of Lacey’s features don’t reference Elesa either. She has dark-brown/black eyebrows and orangish eyes, which doesn’t match Elesas natural blonde hair or blue eyes. Masters, while not mainline. offers a potential clash. Nemona is part of the cast and she’s a similar age to Lacey. If she’s interacting with Elesa, whose around her early/mid twenties, then Elesa would be too young to have been a mother.There is a distinct age gap with Clay too, which while not unheard of doesn’t match their personalities. And really, there’s just no synergy. In mainline and supplementary material, Elesa has never meaningfully interacted with Clay. Most of her interactions are with Skyla, and while there’s no confirmed relationship there either, it at least makes a more feasible foundation and potential for progression. Just turning around and saying ‘oh she has a kid now with a guy who one time she asked to lower a bridge’ feels really stagnant, just slapping a random man and woman together. This was a tangent, and I acknowledge the pairing could happen. If Gamefreak commits to it, that’s that. But as it currently stands I don’t see any substantial creativity or meaningful reference..

Yeah, Elesa is only 18 years old so there is no way the Elesa is Lacey's mother unless Clay were to be a Pedophile. I believe Lacey is somewhere around 11-12 years old so if this were the case then that menas that Clay must have gotten Elesa pregnant when she was around 6-7 years old.
I don't think Elesa is her mom. Lacey mentioned she's a second-year at Blueberry Academy. Since Unova is in New York, second year in high school is Sophomore year. Lacey should be 15-16 years old. That doens't prove anything). , she's not known for double battles, and above all, no interaction or interaction other than letting Clay know the player is ready to challenge. Oh and looks nothing like Lacey at all. So Clay's wife is just a random woman we've never met. Elesa in any case is with Volkner anyways. Also it turns out any fake lines or anything were proven to be fake. Elesa is not with Clay at the end of the day but Volkner.
Is it confirmed Clay is her father? I like to think she idolizes Elesa and uses Pokemon similar to her. Just because characters share similar designs and Pokemon team doesn't automatically make them related to that person. They could be master and student or something who admires and inspires to be that person. Considering the Pokemon games seem to be a few years apart from each other, like maybe 2 or 3 years at best? I know when Red and Blue appeared in USUM it's been years, but it's like maybe 5 years or so. And if you go with Pokemon Masters it seems like everyone exist together and no time has passed. This is likely my last post about this matter. I just want to mention one more thing which I take as a possible evidence to support the theory that Elesa is Lacey's mom. Lacey sometimes precedes her catchphrase "That is not right!" by saying "Bzzt! Wrong!". Thing is, in some languages such as English, "Bzzt" is usually an onomatopeia for electrical devices (not to be confused with "Bzzzzzz" that doesn't have the T, which is instead onomatopeia related to bugs). So, Lacey's tendency of using electric onomatopeia hints there's some electric-type specialist in her family tree, once again hinting at Elesa.
Sorry but this is not true. First if Elesa was the mother then it would have said “Her parents are famous gym leaders” instead of just the father. Also Lacey would have had a more on the nose Pokémon showing who the mother is. I mean she has an excadrill which is an on the nose pokemon of who her father is (Clay has one) so if Elesa was the mother she would have had either an Emolga or a Zebstrika. Also gym leaders don’t have to live in the same town their gym is located. I mean look at Mays father, his gym is in one town while his home is in another town…. Her father living in Nimbasa makes sense since he is a buisness man and is always on the go so having easy access to the subway station makes it easier for him to get around faster. (Also since unova is based on New York it is not uncommon to live a long time away from work and prioritize owning a home near easy access to transportation)
Not only that... Neither Clay nor Elesa have pink hair... yes, Lacey could have deyed it... but then her eye color still is the issue, as Lacey has yellow eyes, while Clay has brown and Elesa has light blue.
Here's a theory for ya: Elesa is Lacey's older sister. I don't really have any evidence beyond Elesa looking too young to be a mother in official artwork, and the apparent age gap between herself and Clay, but it'd be a heck of a twist.

There is no way in hell Elesa is Lacey’s mother. This theory is about as stupid as “paradox are imaginations” was. There is no mention of her mom. And it’s been shown spouses will live apart for family for work with Norman in Gen 3. Lacey has a plusle and minun because she likes cute shit. She’s got a ton of other stereotypical cute pokemon for her challenge too. It literally means nothing more. Do people honestly thing a hot young model would go for an ugly old dude like Clay? Ew. Such a big age difference and would make Clay look like a creepy old dude.

It is a weird year gap considering Clay is a much more experienced man/business man and Elesa would have been an almost freshly teenager 18 to 20 years old, still too young and naïve. The only way they could confirm it is in the anime. I'm pretty sure when BW 2 released, they both are not married yet but maybe later they do. And 12 years later, we got introduced to lacey.

While I like this little theory, and it does show, I still hold the belief that Clay married a regular person and settled down a little after some Gym Leader duties. It makes sense, and Lacey does have more features that are Clay like in her way of expression, and simply because she lives in Nimbasa City and have Plusle and Minun doesn't really provide much strong evidence. She could be a fan of Elesa that's for sure.

I like the idea myself, but I'll hold this as a potential parent theory. But the odds of Elesa being an honorary aunt (possible godaunt) to Lacey would be a far more likely idea.
The best i can come up with is her mom is a assistant/works for Elesa.

Main point, the model line was confirmed to be fabricated. There’s no direct allusion to Lacey’s mother, which is egregious considering Elesa’s popularity; why only refer to one gym leader as her parent?
Plusle and Minun are mentioned, but they’re the principal double battle mascot. Elesa has never used them, and Zebstrika or Eelektross would’ve made a better reference.
Some of Lacey’s features don’t reference Elesa either. She has dark-brown/black eyebrows and orangish eyes, which doesn’t match Elesas natural blonde hair or blue eyes.
Masters, while not mainline. offers a potential clash. Nemona is part of the cast and she’s a similar age to Lacey. If she’s interacting with Elesa, whose around her early/mid twenties, then Elesa would be too young to have been a mother.There is a distinct age gap with Clay too, which while not unheard of doesn’t match their personalities.
And really, there’s just no synergy. In mainline and supplementary material, Elesa has never meaningfully interacted with Clay. Most of her interactions are with Skyla, and while there’s no confirmed relationship there either, it at least makes a more feasible foundation and potential for progression. Just turning around and saying ‘oh she has a kid now with a guy who one time she asked to lower a bridge’ feels really stagnant, just slapping a random man and woman together.
This was a tangent, and I acknowledge the pairing could happen. If Gamefreak commits to it, that’s that. But as it currently stands I don’t see any substantial creativity or meaningful reference..

Also Clay is implied to be more in his mid to late 30s rather than his 40s. Still a big age gap but less than expected at least.

Yeah, Elesa is only 18 years old so there is no way the Elesa is Lacey's mother unless Clay were to be a Pedophile. I believe Lacey is somewhere around 11-12 years old so if this were the case then that menas that Clay must have gotten Elesa pregnant when she was around 6-7 years old.

Considering the Pokemon games seem to be a few years apart from each other, like maybe 2 or 3 years at best? I know when Red and Blue appeared in USUM it's been years, but it's like maybe 5 years or so. And if you go with Pokemon Masters it seems like everyone exist together and no time has passed. I just want to mention one more thing which I take as a possible evidence to support the theory that Elesa is Lacey's mom.
Lacey sometimes precedes her catchphrase "That is not right!" by saying "Bzzt! Wrong!". Thing is, in some languages such as English, "Bzzt" is usually an onomatopeia for electrical devices (not to be confused with "Bzzzzzz" that doesn't have the T, which is instead onomatopeia related to bugs). So, Lacey's tendency of using electric onomatopeia hints there's some electric-type specialist in her family tree, once again hinting at Elesa.
She just seems too young for Clay to me. But then again, Pokemon Trainers are 10... So idk

Sorry but this is not true. First if Elesa was the mother then it would have said “Her parents are famous gym leaders” instead of just the father. Also Lacey would have had a more on the nose Pokémon showing who the mother is.
I mean she has an excadrill which is an on the nose pokemon of who her father is (Clay has one) so if Elesa was the mother she would have had either an Emolga or a Zebstrika.
Also gym leaders don’t have to live in the same town their gym is located. I mean look at Mays father, his gym is in one town while his home is in another town…. Her father living in Nimbasa makes sense since he is a buisness man and is always on the go so having easy access to the subway station makes it easier for him to get around faster. (Also since unova is based on New York it is not uncommon to live a long time away from work and prioritize owning a home near easy access to transportation)

Neither Clay nor Elesa have pink hair... yes, Lacey could have deyed it... but then her eye color still is the issue, as Lacey has yellow eyes, while Clay has brown and Elesa has light blue.

Here's a theory for ya: Elesa is Lacey's older sister. I don't really have any evidence beyond Elesa looking too young to be a mother in official artwork, and the apparent age gap between herself and Clay, but it'd be a heck of a twist.
I mean, Elesa can be a mom, but not Lacey's. Elesa is way to young to be Lacey's mom and she is a model and they tend to get cast aside the moment they become mothers (IRL anyways).
