    It was still draining! That's the best part about DIY, is that you can walk away and let it fully drain for 15min+

    Always fill the filter with oil prior to installing it. This avoids a "dry" start . RUclipsr mentions "priming" the filter which is half correct. It is recommended to put a thin layer of oil on the gasket to aid in removal on the next filter change.

      The oil filter is mounted in a horizontal position. If you fill the oil filter most of the oil will drain on the floor.

    • @autopurlieu
      @autopurlieu  2 года назад +1

      @@smb1014 I’m pretty sure he meant just to “prime “ it with a little bit of oil in the filter. 👍🏽

      @@jonathanhantke6314 Obviously dude!! You can't "fill" a side mounted filter to the top. But, you should still pour some oil into the filter to saturate the inner medium. The less the car runs with a "dry" filter the better. For a side mounted filter I will still fill it and deal with a little spillage than risk a dry start. To each his own though...you do you man!!

    0-16 will lose its viscosity to 0-10 or 0-5 as time goes on, it will damage the engine. 5w-30 has proven to last a million miles in scientific testing. Use 0-30 the least to 0-40 because it will get thinner as the oil get wear away. We see old oil is much thinner because it worn away.

    • @autopurlieu
      @autopurlieu  Год назад

      You are right but this is a 2 yr old engine. Can’t put that thick yet, really low miles right now.
      Still under warranty, when you start putting different oil. Might lost the warranty

      @BibleExposition2022 The thin oil is for fuel economy, if your engine was designed with that viscosity in mind your wear parts are built for that. It’s not bad for the engine, 5w-30 would cause a lack of performance and poor fuel economy. Also it has different properties in cold weather than 5w-30. Long story short, use what they recommend.

    • @patrickhenry2845
      @patrickhenry2845 5 месяцев назад

      The 0W-16 oil is for fuel economy. Once the engine is out of warranty and the engine is broken in. I would change to 0W - 20 or 5W - 20. Never 0W-40. Or 5W-30.. The 5W-20 full synthetic oil can withstand blistering outside temperature up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
