  • Another run in with the cops! Someone gets schooled on the Logbook… but who?
Truck driver questioned about alleged fatigue breaches in the Work Diary.
As an Australian Truck Driver, you’re bound to have Police and other enforcement agency interactions. It’s just what happens. Make sure you always know the rules and confidently challenge any incorrect charges. This Highway Patrol Officer would have fined me, or more likely given me a court attendance notice as it would have been a major breach, if I hadn’t been able to show him that I understood the law, and was working within its limitations.

The ole 'Book of Lies' or 'Book or Hopes & Dream's causes more fatigued driving and thus accidents than it'll ever fix.
Yeah, OK, rest when needed etc but the # of people that say you must do the 6 hours (on BFM) without a break as it has to get there etc and the pressure put on drivers to do such.
Add the speed limiter and you've got a recipe for accidents.

It’s hard to know what’s worse drivers that don’t understand the work diary or the authorities (cops & DOT).🙄

Log books are just like a cheque book to those blokes. You do need to know what your doing.

He was waiting for you to admit you made a mistake, and then give you a ticket. Cops, Vic Roads have been doing it for years. It's called fishing. Luckily, you knew the law and didn't admit anything which would of been audio recorded without you knowing.
