I’m Probably Going To Jail. Over 100 logbook Offences!

  • Just when you think you have all bases covered, trucking throws you a curve ball. Southbound from Port Kembla to Port Melbourne with a fully loaded b-double, I get pulled into Marulan Heavy Vehicle Checking Station which leads to a run in with a transport enforcement officer that rapidly escalates from a good experience to a frightening finale. After catching me out on technicality he’s found over one hundred logbook offences and I’m left thinking, “I’m never going to drive again, I’ll never pay off this fine and I’m probably going to jail!” What scared me most was that I know the logbook (heavy vehicle work diary) inside out and this could still happen to me… Australian Trucking, it’s always an adventure and there’s certainly no shortage of excitement.

What you just explained is why i gave up a job that i truly loved, gave up in the end because of all their pathetic excuses to get a find, was a waste of time and put
more pressure and worry into a job that wasnt needed. I could go on but would end up in jail. Apart from my rant I love your uploads. Take care.

the problem with the driving profession is that its damn near impossible to get a fair and just trial within Australia, so most are forced to give up their right to self represent in order to continue working (Driving), as they are likely no where near the court house on the date of the mention as they drive around Australia, so most will plea guilty simply because they have too, Its not a fair and just trial and its really an issue that goes unlooked, most Australians dont realise their rights, and the DOT know this and feel untouchable

That's RICH! I never could run a log except in a mixer and got out before the e-logs came out. Barely. I don't miss the days that you drove until you just flopped over. I wasn't a pill popper so I flopped right easily but had to go to get the job done or make it back to the shop from somewhere. Keep on burning that diesel and burn some for me. I miss the company of other tale tellers such as myself but not the hassles that now go with it. CHEERS and Blessings!

They can’t go back more than 28 days, hence why you only need to carry the old BS book for 28 days .

    Great story…….and dead right too…….
pretty sure the Magistrate would have dismissed it….given the extent of supporting factors…….
