- This episode we play the new Assassin's Creed Universe Beyond set, and Charlie is in love with it! (Not really) Matt pulls an insane card and we got Wubby on the phone for this one!

Box Brawl is a series of Magic: The Gathering RUclips videos that seeks to answer two questions: what would happen if we played through every single set of Magics history and who would be named its champion at the end of it? Well, Charlie "MoistCr1tikal" "penguinz0", Matt, Ryan, and Drew are doing exactly that, playing through some modified sealed/limited rules for the commander format, almost close to brawl. The game works like this:
Open a box of magic cards that hasn't been opened yet
Each player gets an amount of cards to build a 60 card deck out of, naming a commander along the way (which can be any creature, not restricted to legendary creatures)
Play a game and give points out based on placements, 3 for first, 2 for second, 1 for third, and 0 for last. Also the player that opens the most expensive card gets a point for free.
Eventually we will have played through all of the sets and at the end the player with the most points will be crowned the best magic player in the world, unquestionably. Along the way we'll laugh, we'll cry, and maybe we will have a few guests in the mean time. Stay tuned!!

They made a game out of enabling the spiraling into gambling addiction, and I'm here for it.
Sadly they are just doing whats called drafting. WOTC made it up to support a this kind of gambling 😂
WOTC didn't just make 1 type of drafting either. This is SEALED Draft, where instead of passing packs around to try and be organized about which colors you pick, you keep whatever cards you pull.
Not that it would matter for this set. Way too few cards.

@@legendsofmichael4315 Draft is specifically when you pass around packs. This is not "sealed draft" it's just sealed. You might be thinking of "limited" which is the category of format that both draft and sealed belong to.
Thats why at my table while we do track points, we go first place 3, second place 1 and 0 for third and fifth. removes the incentive to kill the weakest player unless you are confident to also remove atleast one more player (through politcing e.g.), making the third not kick down on the fourth. And the first having more of a difference to the second makes it more important to get the lead down than secure your own position, leading imo to a more fun gameplay loop

I'm a returning magic player, been out of the game for 10 years or so and I'm building a red and white warrior deck and they had some cool stuff in here for that in my opinion.
Really dig the copper sleeves, I use them for my artifact deck.
am I dumb or was the points not correct at the end? I thought Charlie won last week with Ryan coming in second. Also didn't Drew finish third AND unpack the masterpiece meaning he should have had 2 points? Please correct me if I'm wrong here!

This series is so awesome. Done in a way that people (like me) who know nothing about MTG can actually follow along and learn. And showing the card openings and banter is just, as always, one of the best things about you guys' content.

Trample is a MAY ability, you dont have to do the trample damage if you dont want to.
pretty sure mjolnir deals damage to every opponent equal to the number of tapped creatures each opponent controls

They should upgrade the mana bases with duals and fetches because I think 3 colours have a pretty big disadvantage when you HAVE to draw 3 separate basics
IMO that’s just part of playing limited. If you don’t want to get mana screwed play less colors.

Commander draft. You have no card selection so you can play however many copies you want of anything in your color identity

GUYS, i need help please. I cant find an answer anywhere. Do i keep track of commander damage seperately from my 40 health? surely right. So technically its 61 health you have in commander, the regular 40 and 21. Or is it 40 and i take 9 commander damage, im down to 31, and up to 9 commander damage? sorry for a stupid question.
You have 40 health. If I do 20 damage to you with my commander, you then have 20 health as a whole but you have taken 20 commander damage from me. So if I do 1 more damage to you, you just lose.
