Same. I know nothing about mtg, I would occasionally watch matches when they came on TV and there was nothing else on, but was never actually interested until watching these commander games
The fact he pulled a masterpiece at all is crazy, the fact it was the Sol Ring which is like the second most expensive is even more crazy, then he had the guts to put that $800 card in his deck to play and some how manage to draw it on turn 1, only to have it destroyed before he can even untap with it is some of the craziest luck I've ever seen.
@@TypicalOtaku Yep, one in four boxes. There's also 54 of them. Sol ring is at the top financially together with manacrypt. So hitting this is like mindblowingly rare. Like 44/54 are still really cool, but sub $100. Crazy hit and for sure one of the coolest bling cards to own!
1:01:48 In order to not pay 2 commander tax, Charlie spends 2B and a Card instead while forgetting the additional text of the card. Marvelous gambit Mr. Charlie
I like these games because they feel like actual commander games you see at a shop. People get things wrong, have to back track etc. This almost surely happens in other commander shows, but they are edited out if possible
Love the series, been wanting to see content like this for MTG for a while, kinda wish this was more like the progression series people do for yugioh though where every episode you add cards to your pool and build decks from that but also understand that it wouldnt really work for this series where your hoping all over the place in magics timeline. Some of the older cards would never get a chance to see play if you have a pool filled with power crept modern mtg cards.
Congrats on the sol ring! I’m so hyped to see the best pull showcase at the end of the series! Especially after the serialized Cleopatra! Keep up the great work guys!
Opening Kaladesh takes me back... to cracking so much of this stuff for masterpiece cards (when I should have been buying NVDA at a good price)... now we live in the full on variant days. What a strange trip it has been.
Great video, but did you know that in commander, when you are playing sealed, that all monocolored commanders are treated as having partner. This is so that you can play multiple colors even if you didn’t happen to open a multicolored commander. Should help for future videos
@@christopherreay3242"For Commander Masters drafts, all eligible commanders with one or less colors in their color identity are treated as if they have partner in a Commander draft. This rule was borrowed from the Commander cube draft community in order to allow players to draft cohesive decks without being tied to their early pick Commanders."
@@RM_3D not sure where that quote is from, but it applies specifically for Commander Masters. There were different rules in place for the two Commander Legends sets. Don't get me wrong, it seems like a sensible rule, it's just not something that's automatically applied to something like this
@@christopherreay3242 it was added to commander masters draft rules because the set didn’t include legendary creatures with the partner mechanic like the previous commander draftable sets. So while you are correct that it isn’t a rule set in stone, it was the official way to draft for the only commander draftable set without partner. It stands to reason that if you wanted to try and draft every set in magics history (most of which not having partner) with the intention of creating a commander deck, that you would want to use this rule
Heads up for future videos in this series. My playgroup does draft for commander instead of sealed. That way you can color fix way better and everyone has opportunities to grab legendary creatures. We sometimes do a pick two out of the first pick on a pack to further help people fine tune their decks. Everyone ends up having some great synergy this way. Some sets don't have many legends (we found this out recently with Ravnica RMR), so the any creature for commander is necessary sometimes.
Kaladesh was so much fun and the masterpiece treatment is so iconic. I have toyed with making a Kaladesh + Aether Revolt CUBE with some of the Modern Horizon 3 Energy Cards thrown in
Channel has not only both increased my love and interest in playing dnd and prompted me to make a character (just need to find a cool party) but as well gotten me into Magic. Currently trying to build out my first deck and learning the rules on how to play irl besides the online version
This is a great series format! I'm building my first EDH deck for Leonardo Da Vinci. I bought the Angels and Cats and Dogs SL back when as well as the new MH3 Eldrazi deck, so I've just been jamming precons until now. Never a better time to get into the game
Now this.. IS POD RACING!! Speaking my language and playing my heart strings. Love limited formats 🥰. As Garfield intended! Do more of this please 🙏 Some suggestions for this box brawl: • No singleton rule • The player last in the turn order starts as the monarch to encourage combat further • Or even no commanders or color restrictions in the deck building and just play multiplayer magic 🪄 with 60 card decks.
I cant explain how happy this channel makes me, I love every video. Mtg is my favorite game and I truly enjoy seeing my favorite internet personality big moist play ❤
I love this all of it even tho i dont have cards or play i know magic through these guys and getting to live vicariously through them wothout spending money is very entertaining cant wait for the rest of the box battles
Y’all should draft them instead of sealed! You’ll build more synergy into your decks because you are picking between more cards per player. More ability to build around your commander too.
the fact that matt never realized the enchantment he had out lets him make a thopter with his commander, pay 1 mana and immediately get 2 of the 3 energy back pains me so greatly, he should have demolished everyone, please matt hmu ill tutor you
New Idea. Each of the players bring 3 decks. One for each of their opponents. First die roll winner gets to pick who they think made a good deck but only one of the decks are good decks and two are meme decks. They get what they get and the decks not picked are put to the side for another game.
I get it the desire to want to play commander with the boxes but id honestly love to see these played in small 1v1 tournament style games. Not only is that more hype but it also means we get to see the sets shine in their natural habitats
you guys should put all the commanders in the middle and everyone can pick from them except you have priority to pick one of the ones you pulled first.
Id recommend having everyone start with a Prismatic piper. I love the idea of using anything as a commander, the piper just allows you to have more color options
One Idea if no commander is pulled, can be to have the 4 worst commanders from the set and you get one at random. Adds to the best magic player ever idea
I would rather do how they did than this option, since the latter gives players 0 agency on the colors of the deck... anything besisdes it should be better actually...
@@kms199x2 I’m sure opening 9 booster packs gives you enough variety to make something work especially if you don’t pull any Legendary Creatures from those packs.
As a suggestion, I think the way you did it with the “commander” being whatever creature is great! I would though suggest having life be 20 life or 30 instead of 40 to prevent late game stall situations
Matt not realizing the amazing synergy between Era of Innovation and Whirler Virtuoso makes me sad! He had all that mana and could have produced so many Thopters throughout his turns!
Charlie playing mtg is never something I thought i needed until I had it
I was amongst a group telling him to play for yearsssss. he played yugioh first.
Hes going to go through the entire series

the masterpiece sol ring goes hard! moist and his crew have insane luck
That’s the nuts best hit!
is it a normal box or collector?

it was actually a 4mana tax but he still did forget to bring an artefact to his hand also :p
Drew getting so upset while missing his triggers is classic magic
All these displays definitely proves we need more shock collars games lmao
Drew never gaining the energy from his commanders attack damage is sending me through the wall xd
the fact that he immediately forgot after remembering is so funny to me lmao

I have a feeling a condensed version of this is making it to the main channel. That Sol Ring is insane
I just finished watching the last commander episode on the channel and here I see a new one! Lovely timing!
i think for the next box you should try drafting the packs so everyone gets access to cards that work with their decks
Charlie spending three mana to save a two mana commander tax is a huge flex.
it would of been 4 mana tax as its the second time its died, he would of cost 7
You can still see Matt flinching like he's about to be shocked
Charlie missing all of his cambal triggers for vehicles ahahaha
So excited for this series!!
The best pull on the wall after each draft idea goes so hard, Hope you guys do it!!

Love the editing on these videos, good job
The soul read on Sol Ring Masterpiece was hilarious.

Charlie needs at least two players to stop him, he's a real Menace.
