The banks are fkn morons loaning money on these money pits.. yeah okay when they are new and under warranty but the class of people driving 7, 8 and 10 year old Mercedes they get used with high millage do not have cash sitting around for expensive repairs.
I worked in the healthcare industry for over 33 years and watched people purchase high end luxury vehicles that cost more than their rent/mortgage. One woman I worked with that made an above average salary was complaining one day and asked for some advice. She had some financial issues because she was paying $1,500 in rent, $1,000 a month for her Infinity SUV, paying substantial credit card/student loan debt, was a single mom and was working 2 jobs + weekends to stay afloat. I told her to get rid of her car and buy an older one that was more affordable. She says absolutely not, I love my car. People have their whole identity wrapped up in material things and it's sad.
Sometimes older cars are just as costly with repairs. I'm not knocking the woman cause I don't know her but as of right now rent, and the cost of living has increased. Not sure how long ago this was.
@@taraking8555reliable used car, when repairs are needed is still a savings when you look at the interest being paid for 1 or 2 years. If you need a 5 or for year loan for a car, you are paying to much.

I had one car repoed... I called my bank before I missed a payment and told them I forfeit it. They came and got it.... No Point in fighting a tow truck driver...
Same here. I bought it right, they picked it up clean. Only ended up owing $1000 after it went to auction, which I paid. This was back in the 90's before all the car buying services, that I would probably try and use today.
Cars are so overrated. I got me a cheap 2009 Accord 5 years ago and now have 220,000 miles on it with no problems yet..
I got my 2017 accord for 20k in 2019 with 25k on it lol. Its the best thing ive ever bought in my life

Remember, that vehicle you are financing has a *gps tracker installed by the dealership* so they know where it is at all times. He’s was definitely living beyond his means buying premium gas & the full coverage insurance required for that overpriced Benz. He then spent 2 nights in jail, still has to see the judge, *faces court fines & tickets, owes the bank total price of the loan plus interest as per the signed contract now that the car is totaled… He was at a *Title loan* about to make yet another poor financial decision before the repo guy interrupted him. Life’s definitely harder when you’re stupid.😂

We are of course assuming that he was paying his full coverage insurance premiums but not the car note. I doubt he was paying and it wasn’t already voided. I could be wrong. Ha!
@@isaac198428 The loan has coverage from the bank. Just in case the owner does not. The car was payed off by insurance by the driver or the bank. mostly the bank coverage of the loan amount. Brother in law is a banker. said the bank lost no money as they also have insurance for this situation.

Folks: Do a self repo. Call your bank, tell them you can’t make payments. Either come get it or rework the terms of the loan. The bank doesn’t want your car and will work with you in most cases. If you damage it like this idiot, insurance won’t pay and now instead of being on the hook for the difference of what it sold and what you owe, you’re on the hook for all of it.

What terrible luck to be trying to get a payday/title type loan possibly to make your over due car payments then totaling the car trying to run from the repo man in the parking lot. Almost wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it.
I can almost guarantee you he wasn't trying to get a loan to pay the car, he was trying to title loan the car. Obviously he can't do that without the title but I've seen ppl make it happen. Title loan the car take that money do whatever with it then leave the bank and title company to fight over the car after he tears it up and stops making payments. It's sad but I've seen it happen many times.
This is not about being poor. It's about getting a car that you're able to afford. Here in Los ángeles California I met 2 repo drivers that got shot by doing their job repossessing a car. It can be dangerous. I myself have been offered to do repossession, but I happily declined you can make good money, but it is a dangerous job. People think you are stealing their car, which is not really their car until it is paid off.

There is no reason to ever get a car repossessed. If you know you are not going to be able to make that payment, all you have to do is call the finance company before your payment is due, and have that payment put on the end. When I was young and struggling I did this every year at Christmas time knowing that Christmas was going to cause a money crunch.

Insurance won't pay for damages and will probably drop coverage. The car can't go to auction because the debtor wrecked it.
The bank will put a line on his income return checks and this will ding his credit big time. He won't even be able to get a loan for a beat-up lawnmower without having to pay 350% in interest.
Now the owner will be responsible for the damage he did to the car.
I walked to work and took the train for a year to save up to buy my car in cash. At the time I bought a 2012 Ford Escape and I was only the 2nd owner. It had less than 10k miles. In 2024 it JUST hit 100K miles and still runs well! Idk what’s wrong with ppl’s priorities

Under the law. It's illegal to continue a repo once it causes a public nuisance. The drive wasn't allowed to get inside the car inside the car or tow the vehicle with someone inside.

I worked with a man that was a repo dude and he had been shot in the head a couple of years ago he asked me to get into repoing with him and I had to tell him it wasn't worth it to me what happened to him. When you are poor the loan interest rates are outrageous and your choice of vehicles is limited to generally unreliable autos. It is a vicious cycle. And impossible to get out of.

I own 3 vehicles. ALL are paid off with a combined value of $10K, (only one is a beater with a heater) it's possible to have a nice car without bankrupting yourself.

Entirely the tow truck driver's fault once again. He tried to steal this guy's vehicle. Yeah, sure he had 'paperwork'. It's no different than a bank robber handing a bank teller a handwritten note telling her to empty the cash register into a paper bag.
