I can't believe that in Japan there's a shrine of the same name referencing Moriya Shrine. They even have you there for some reason. Guess they watch your videos.
I believe the Moriya shrine is based on the actual place called Suwa Shrine in Nagasaki on top of Tamazono Mountain which also has a very long stairs branching to the other places near the shrine. People there also celebrate the Onbashira Festival which they'll slide 16 meticulously chosen fir trees which are cut clean to serve as a post down the mountain and erect it on each corners of the shrine complex or (perhaps) replace the old ones.

I've never really heard anyone say Cirno's name, but I've always read it as "sir-no" I'm not sure why you guys read it with a "Ch". I've also never heard anyone say "Suika" and I've always read it as "Soo-Ih-kuh"
@@1MaxVader1 we read it that way because the original work is Japanese? Japan use a syllable writing system. Every letter is read one way, though there may be differences in tone. Cirno's name is writter as チルノ, Chiruno. Not サーノ or Saano (Japanese writes Sir as Saa, see サー・ナイトアイ Sir Nighteye). So for a lot of us, it's really, really obvious it should be Cheer-no, because that's literally what's written (unless you're going full Japanese and pronouncing it Chiruno ofc).

it was shocking when i was reading the higurashi spin offs and keiichi suddenly started talking about touhou and gladius among others to distract the villain, he even mentioned he cant beat the "little sister" (flandre) and that he has yet to see yukari
It's not the first time Neptunia has referenced Touhou. Gakuen Game Neptune: Katsudou Dairy's first chapter has the cast trying to come up with ideas for a video game to which Neptune literally recommends making a Touhou clone after making several other unoriginal ideas. Nep's pretty lucky Shanghai Alice wasn't brought into the Neptunia franchise until recently or else I'm sure Alice would've been glad to give Nep the good old Histy treatment. Also, Bullet Heaven (a literal reversal on the genre name Bullet Hell) and Epic Battle Fantasy 3 reference Touhou too with the latter being officially called Epic Battle Fantasy 3.3, having many Danmaku patterns that reference various Spell Cards such as Flandre and Utsuho and on Kongregate the references come from two achievements called Imperishable Player and Ten Desires while the former as an attack called "Bullet Hell" and even completes the reference by having the character Lance say "I'd like to see them get through that with one life and no bombs!" Although I'm slightly concerned about those individuals who wanted to become actual dolls. I wouldn't call that a strange addiction, I'd call that an unhealthy obsession that needs major help. Either rehab or therapy. Venus, one of the folks featured in the same episode as Emily and another person named Justin, literally travelled to the Republic of Korea to have weight loss surgery despite weighing only 53 kg (or 117 lbs) at the time of the procedure. She claimed it took her 50 attempts (which involved calling doctors from around the world) before she eventually got someone to do it which eventually resulted in her going to a hospital after the surgery with injuries on her stomach, requiring stomach medication and an IV Drip.
Oh yeah, dont forget that there is a touhou hijack on a Filipino Show called iBilib. It's a show aimed towards children where they show various science experiments using everyday objects and other stuff. Each and every episode has a different cosplayed character by the hosts.
My real life Touhou Hijack moment was when I was eating at a local sushi restaurant and realised all the music was Touhou remixes. 2:29 I see Keine, Kasen in Byakuren's clothes, Marisa, Reimu, and China. Not sure where you found Yuugi. 🤔 2:55 Maid Guy to the right and Mahoro just to the left. Deep cuts. 6:27 Touhou stuff is in a bunch of rhythm games at this point. I have like 80 Touhou songs in Groove Coaster 6:51 Did you look at the rest of the band? They're all in costume. 7:15 Man openly admitting to being influenced by Touhou accused of being influenced by Touhou. Maybe DON'T feed the pointless drama?
I still remember the time in my grade 10 art class where the assignment was to make three clay figures and got jumpscared by the fact someone from another class/period made a small figure of a Reimu Fumo Still don't know who made it, but I still think about it to this day
I allways leave the bell on bc i love this youtube channel, it gives a lot of info and some interesting stuff about touhou. Which makes me like it more its very entertaining
You mention Lux's Ultimate's apperance but not the fact *it is literally called Final Spark* Also her old lore she copied spells; and she even has a "spelltheif" skin and another skin which is basically blue Marisa. On the other hand; saying "there's characters called Yuyuko; Letty and Lyrica" are touhou references is a streach since... well they're all names used elsewhere.
Zun contributed to the development of Magic Pengel and Graffiti Kingdom and this is why there is a "Miko of Hakurei" in the series. It's also the first appearance of Reimu's signature Fantasy Seal bomb attack, back then called Dream Seal. Zun if I recall correctly used to work for Taito until 2007.
2:22 That’s clearly Kasen wearing Byakuren’s out fit for some reason yet he calls her Yuugi and then shows Yuugi who looks nothing like that. Also Meiling in the back.

My favorite Touhou Hijack is 100% the return of r/place since I actually had the chance to participate in it. Good times, watching Canada not make their leaf and genshin being vandalized in the process of it was very entertaining.
2:28 I'm shooketh you didn't mention the Byakuren + Kasen fusion cosplayer next to them and Hong Meiling here...but you said Yuugi and I am looking at the panels of the comics and see no character whose resembling Yuugi... Just Reimu, Marisa, Meiling and Kasen + Byakuren.
i don't know if it's a reference but in Rabi-Ribi if you hold attack button (hammer) and move to the sides you can move slowly like using the focus and also you can watch your hitbox, also the game is bullethell. and some attacks could be a reference to some spells but idk the names, but one of them definitely most be a reference to Marisa's Master spark (one of the attacks of ??? in the last chapter) and in the same same boss fight, you have to endure her final attack (Last spell?) like in some bosses where you have to resist until the time is up. also, there are a few sections like bullet hell just like 2hu. it was a nice video. i'd like to play the taiko game for switch.
Dude, in a recent chapter of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime literally has a white wolf tengu character called Momiji. It's _blatant_ over there.
Yeah, when I read that chapter, I’m just waiting for a crow tengu named Aya ti show up at this point lol. Also I think Momoji’s hair color isn’t white in the color page. I dunno what color it is (pink maybe?) but it wasn’t white.
This is kinda obscure but its a cool one: In EBF5, there is a pocketwatch item that grants the holder to take an extra turn in battle, directly referencing Sakuya's time manipulating abilities.
Skullgirls has references to touhou and with their last character they did a pretty elaborate color set of Okuu, they even put the effect of her space cape and the atom on her leg (plus the character's helpers have colors from other characters).
I have one to throw in here myself! In a mod for Terraria, admittedly the most famous one, Calamity, there is a few directly touhou referencing items/weapons! The "Scarlet Devil", though not a spell card, is the name of the game. It's a late game spear that is a slow throw but does a boat load of damage, and releases several homing, red orbs that also do damage. Aka, Remillia's Spear Not the only one. Theres also a summoning weapon called "Resurection butterfly", which copies the name of her spellcard, is a pink hand fan, and using it summons several, small, etherial butterflies and is a clear reference to Yuyuko. There are more, but those 2 are the most fleshed out Though its my own personal speculation that the "Last Prism" in vanilla terraria is also a Marisa reference, if only subtle
I was going through the Umineko VN a few weeks ago, and I believe one of the songs Jessica was singing was called "I'm not some ordinary magician" or something along those lines. reading that really caught me off guard lmao.

Including Touhou references in obscure and random places is like an inside joke to fellow fans of the franchise. “Hey, I know if you get this reference you like this obscure things too, but if you don’t get it you probably don’t notice it”
Here's one that's the result of a fan: one strip of Heathcliff back in 2020 had a Kitty Korner segment where a Yukari Y. of Gensokyo, Japan mentions her cat Chen running with local foxes (i.e. Ran).
if the Bang Dream BAD APPLE!! remix counts as a reference then clearly forgot that for another Rythem Game titled called D4DJ they have a special cover for "Help me, ERINNNNNN!!" and couple Touhou remixies~
@@Sickcrazyneet yea. As you may know, umineko and higurashi have a lot of touhou references. And it's very obvious as well. I honestly pronounce it as “Chr-no”
I've never really heard anyone say Cirno's name, but I've always read it as "sir-no" I'm not sure why you guys read it with a "Ch".

@@SunaoFamily Ah, so they ARE different channel. How is 2channel supposed to be read in hiragana anyways?
I don't know if im crazy but i think there is another reference on the cruise missile. on the bottom it says "NO:PL-4C3 4-IN4BA" could be read as "No place for Inaba"
Holy shit the cod dev's making two touhou reference on one bomb, that's fucking mental.
Alice's theme from SWR was played as a background song in an episode of a long running greek sitcom and let me tell you when it played on the tv i literally run from the other side of the house to make sure i wasnt hallucinating. I immediately looked up the episode online back then but sadly i dont remember the number of the episode now
What was the show called?
ah yes youmuu's ghostblade.
great item ngl.
oh and lux is just hilarious, she can contend with being the most played league character of all time.
it was shocking when i was reading the higurashi spin offs and keiichi suddenly started talking about touhou and gladius among others to distract the villain, he even mentioned he cant beat the "little sister" (flandre) and that he has yet to see yukari
1:51 And that man ended up becoming one of the Creators of Black Mirror,im am no joking.
Also, Bullet Heaven (a literal reversal on the genre name Bullet Hell) and Epic Battle Fantasy 3 reference Touhou too with the latter being officially called Epic Battle Fantasy 3.3, having many Danmaku patterns that reference various Spell Cards such as Flandre and Utsuho and on Kongregate the references come from two achievements called Imperishable Player and Ten Desires while the former as an attack called "Bullet Hell" and even completes the reference by having the character Lance say "I'd like to see them get through that with one life and no bombs!"
Although I'm slightly concerned about those individuals who wanted to become actual dolls.
That time I got reincarnated as a slime. In the manga there’s a character named Momii shows up as a daughter of the elder Tengu
Oh yeah, dont forget that there is a touhou hijack on a Filipino Show called iBilib. It's a show aimed towards children where they show various science experiments using everyday objects and other stuff. Each and every episode has a different cosplayed character by the hosts.

2:29 I see Keine, Kasen in Byakuren's clothes, Marisa, Reimu, and China. Not sure where you found Yuugi. 🤔
2:55 Maid Guy to the right and Mahoro just to the left. Deep cuts.
6:27 Touhou stuff is in a bunch of rhythm games at this point. I have like 80 Touhou songs in Groove Coaster
6:51 Did you look at the rest of the band? They're all in costume.
7:15 Man openly admitting to being influenced by Touhou accused of being influenced by Touhou. Maybe DON'T feed the pointless drama?
i dont think the drama exists anymore tbh
Kasen cosplaying Byakuren just seems so funny somehow.
I still remember the time in my grade 10 art class where the assignment was to make three clay figures and got jumpscared by the fact someone from another class/period made a small figure of a Reimu Fumo
Still don't know who made it, but I still think about it to this day
You should have found out who it was
1:36 it also says "No place 4 Inaba" at the bottom
I allways leave the bell on bc i love this youtube channel, it gives a lot of info and some interesting stuff about touhou. Which makes me like it more its very entertaining
You mention Lux's Ultimate's apperance but not the fact *it is literally called Final Spark*
Also her old lore she copied spells; and she even has a "spelltheif" skin and another skin which is basically blue Marisa.
On the other hand; saying "there's characters called Yuyuko; Letty and Lyrica" are touhou references is a streach since... well they're all names used elsewhere.
best of all, she's a popular character.
truly a hijack to the millions
Yuyuko isn't really that common and even if it were....using the three in the same game at the same time is more than just a coincidence
Yuyuko is a stretch, but who would call their character Letty intentionally?
@@Suwawako Girls called Leticia: :'(

Zun contributed to the development of Magic Pengel and Graffiti Kingdom and this is why there is a "Miko of Hakurei" in the series. It's also the first appearance of Reimu's signature Fantasy Seal bomb attack, back then called Dream Seal. Zun if I recall correctly used to work for Taito until 2007.
2:22 That’s clearly Kasen wearing Byakuren’s out fit for some reason yet he calls her Yuugi and then shows Yuugi who looks nothing like that. Also Meiling in the back.
Yes, there are a lot of touhou references in the world. But why my friends don't know about touhou. I'm so lonely.
F
don't worry pal if they don't know then make them know about it, make them fans even who knows, it worked with one of my friends, who ironically was friends with other guy who also happenned to be a big Touhou fan
And he also doesn’t have to hate Yuugi…..
In Pop Team Epic S1 yukkuris made an appearance too
i don't know if it's a reference but in Rabi-Ribi if you hold attack button (hammer) and move to the sides you can move slowly like using the focus and also you can watch your hitbox, also the game is bullethell.
and some attacks could be a reference to some spells but idk the names, but one of them definitely most be a reference to Marisa's Master spark (one of the attacks of ??? in the last chapter) and in the same same boss fight, you have to endure her final attack (Last spell?) like in some bosses where you have to resist until the time is up. also, there are a few sections like bullet hell just like 2hu.
it was a nice video. i'd like to play the taiko game for switch.
Super Nice, didn't know there was so much
This is kinda obscure but its a cool one: In EBF5, there is a pocketwatch item that grants the holder to take an extra turn in battle, directly referencing Sakuya's time manipulating abilities.
matt the creator of epic battle fantasy also made a bullet hell game. it wont be surprising if he added any touhou references
That's pretty sweet, somehow never noticed this one. I should really get back to one hundred percenting that game.
There’s also an Undertale reference through Snowflake, a secret superboss. Because why have a love triangle when you can have a reference triangle?
Considering how bullet heaven is inspired by touhou, Matt adding a touhou easter egg in ebf5 is to be expected lol.
@@IodizedNaCL that bullet hell game's Steam page also directly mentioned Touhou, lol.
Skullgirls has references to touhou and with their last character they did a pretty elaborate color set of Okuu, they even put the effect of her space cape and the atom on her leg (plus the character's helpers have colors from other characters).
Wait, Black Dahlia has Utsuho's color palette?
@@HyperVanilo yeah It is a DLC color palette, the colors are Okuu, Reimu, Marisa, Sakuya and Orin if I am not mistaken.
@@christianvazquez1835
I guess it makes sense for Dahlia to have Utsuho's color, both of them have a weapon stuck to their right arm
Aka, Remillia's Spear
Not the only one.
Theres also a summoning weapon called "Resurection butterfly", which copies the name of her spellcard, is a pink hand fan, and using it summons several, small, etherial butterflies and is a clear reference to Yuyuko.
There are more, but those 2 are the most fleshed out
Though its my own personal speculation that the "Last Prism" in vanilla terraria is also a Marisa reference, if only subtle

“Hey, I know if you get this reference you like this obscure things too, but if you don’t get it you probably don’t notice it”
The frog has posted! Wake up everybody!!1
Here's one that's the result of a fan: one strip of Heathcliff back in 2020 had a Kitty Korner segment where a Yukari Y. of Gensokyo, Japan mentions her cat Chen running with local foxes (i.e. Ran).
if the Bang Dream BAD APPLE!! remix counts as a reference
then clearly forgot that for another Rythem Game titled called D4DJ they have a special cover for "Help me, ERINNNNNN!!" and couple Touhou remixies~
Umineko's reference to Touhou is also present in the original visual novel and Ouguon Musou Tensei
Makes sense since zun and the creator of umineko are friends.
@@Alexander247 they are?
@@Sickcrazyneet yea.
As you may know, umineko and higurashi have a lot of touhou references. And it's very obvious as well. The most notable being 3 characters cosplaying as marisa, patchouli, and alice.
But in a interview with Ryukishi07 (umineko creator. R7 in short) he said this:

In anime named "Seriously fall in love with me" the mc is playing Touhou in one of the episodes.
in tiny combat arena there's lots of air bases, allies and enemy jets named after various touhou characters
Everything is Touhou References.
I never thought that the Tensura Alice was related to the Touhou Alice in any way. I think it's just a coincidence.
i think she also controlls dolls/puppets
I never caught it on my own, but it's most likely a genuine reference, since later in the light novels a tengu named Momiji (whose design is a dead ringer for Touhou Momiji) is introduced.
my man really says "tawhhawh"
HE JUST PRONOUNCED CIRNO "SIR NO"
Found on a Sonic IDW comic, there were two characters that resemblances a mixture of Remilia and Flandre Scarlet as a Badger (mostly Sticks the Badger) along aside a dog maid that resemblance the time-stopping maid Sakuya Izayoi, judging by her hairstyle and she's even holding a umbrella as well
4:19 don’t know if anyone has commented this yet, but in Sister V Sister, in a dialogue Alice says “Hmm, I see…If you’re looking for something forgotten, you should try searching in Gensokyo”

In Sr. Pelo's "Spooky Month 3 - Unwanted Guests", there's a store called Gensomooru that's literally filled with Touhou characters.
